Suburban Cleveland: Development and News
Lititz is also the epicenter of worldwide concert touring. Worlds largest sound company, staging company and accompanying rehearsal studios are based there, along with many ancillary businesses.

Irving Azoff famously says that the telephone is the instrument that he has mastered. And the artists who have benefitted from his deals have reaped the rewards more than any of them could have done by just being The Eagles for example. Henley and Frey were genius song writers, but when it came time to pay for divorces and jump start their careers, Azoff got them paid. I don't disagree with your prediction on social media, however I think a future music business based on this would have very few huge mega stars, and more niche small individual performers making their way with a good living, but not necessarily cutting their own $1 billion 360 deals for touring, recording and publishing.

I cannot speak to this, only to their live performances, where a massive production is not required. Of course one could argue that a massive production is not required for a band either, but that's what fans have come to expect. In addition, just the nature of musical touring increases overhead as the band each needs specialized techs for instruments, lighting and sound to travel with them. A comedian need only hire everything locally and show up by his/herself.

I'm all for it, however want to see the same video next April after it sits through a Cleveland winter!

Most artists just want to focus on making art, and leave the business to the people they entrust with it. The easiest (and most profitable) thing for them to do is to take a big check from a promoter, rather than try to be a promoter themselves. Comedians would probably be in the best position to self-promote, because they really have no overhead or production issues. A microphone and a bar stool is all they need to ply their craft.

Agora founder and owner, the late Hank LoConti Sr was groundbreaking in the concert industry deals. At it's peak, there were something like 12 Agoras located around the region (and as far as Tampa and Houston, IIRC). LoConti pioneered buying acts to play all 12 clubs for a fee, rather than show by show. Current concert heavyweight Live Nation operates in much the same way, offering 30, 40, or even 100 show deals to artists who don't have to go to each promoter or venue to negotiate separately.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
That will be crazy. It's already a dangerous situation because the existing road isn't wide enough and traffic flies by at 45 mph as people are exiting their parked cars, or walking out between them to get to the drivers side. If you travel the road enough you'll see the double yellow lines are worn out because most traffic drives 1/2 way into the turn lane rather than brush by the parked cars. If they let people park during construction the stationary cars will be even closer. Hopefully they reduce the speed limit to 25.

Cleveland: Downtown: Tower City / Riverview Development
I think there are more and more retailers willing to participate in pop ups if they can get the right rent deal. Many are doing this very thing in vacant stores over the holiday season. https://www.journal-news.com/news/ugg-pop-shop-opens-monroe-offers-opening-event-contest/WdgBPgPn9R7BtO0oNRbrfP/ If Bedrock can pull it off, it would be very good for downtown residents and workers to at least have options.

Understood--but during construction there certainly won't be parking, especially when the eastbound lanes are closed down entirely.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway / Gordon Square Arts District: Development News
One thing is certain---it will be a mess when all those apartment residents have to park somewhere else for the coming months (per a sign at 117th today eastbound closes July 19). Some of their cars don't move for weeks on end, which begs the question, do they really need the car?

Cleveland: Random Quick Questions
You might check with the folks at the Harbor Inn on the west bank Flats and see if the party room upstairs is available. If you have enough people drinking they might work with you on keeping it affordable. DM me if you want contact info.

Cleveland Mayoral Race 2021
Just received a fundraising email from Justin Bibb reminding that the election is 2 months from today (September 14). Will any local media invest in polling? Has anyone seen one?

Cars & Vehicles Discussion (History, etc)
I'm interested in your take on why bicyclists feel they want the respect of a vehicle, but feel it's ok to run lights and stop signs (I personally saw this 3 times on my morning walk today). I am pro-bicycle BTW, however I see these kinds of comments on Facebook sites etc from suburban car nuts when commenting on bike lanes, etc.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I was never a fan, as the service was usually dodgy and food meh, but sorry to see another downtown spot close.

Cleveland: Ohio City: INTRO (Market Square / Harbor Bay Development)
Had dinner with the wife at Avo last night (I recommend), so snapped a quick update shot while walking to the car and also while passing through the intersection of 25/Lorain.

Cleveland: Crime & Safety Discussion
I just received a Dennis Kuchinich mailing that seemed to be a make good mailer on the "bloody Cleveland" sign. In the new mailer he is promising to hire 400 new "Community based" officers (it also features the Edgewater Cleveland script sign with a rainbow....) If what I'm reading above is correct with the difficulties in building numbers, I'd like to know how he plans on doing this?

I wonder who Ronayne is supporting for mayor. Has he stated publicly? It would be great to get fresh and innovative people in both the county and city exec spots.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
Take a look around social media at ex military, including elite vets (Seals, Rangers etc) selling their services for advanced training. 99.9% white guys marketing themselves to their communities in rural America. I know 3-4 of them personally. But this is a topic for another thread, possibly the Police Use of Force or Gun Rights forums.

2022 U.S. Senate Race
White rural Americans are more likely to be raised in a "gung-ho" subculture of pickup trucks, AR15s and Rambo. They enter the service and volunteer for hazardous duty assignments thinking they are invincible.

Cleveland: Downtown: Sherwin-Williams Headquarters
If anything they should force Sherwin Williams to put public space on the roof of this auditorium, so the surrounding buildings of the square are not looking down at an asphalt roof and mechanicals. I could get behind a rooftop event/dining space.

Cleveland Burke Lakefront Airport
By attracting aviation related businesses like the kind that surround County airport. There are also people who buy houses and condos in airstrip developments. BKL could be a one-of-a-kind urban fly-in residential option, where condo owners can have their plane right outside their back door. Ultimately no one currently wants to deal with the city of Cleveland as a landlord, but maybe a change of leadership would swing this in a different direction.
