  1. But let's not kid ourselves. We are no longer a hub city. We should be providing amenities that similar sized airports are providing. This isn't a hard fix. Let the rental cars take over the first two levels of the short term garage. Problem solved.
  2. Perhaps so in major cities, but in small to mid markets travelers are coming to expect rental cars right outside baggage claim. There is plenty of space to take the first few levels of the short term garage for rentals, and build another parking ramp where the former long term garage was. IND, PIT, etc all have onsite rentals. BNA just built a new parking structure right outside bag claim.
  3. Ugh. In a city with 1/3 of its peak population and huge swaths of urban prairies, we intentionally designed an "open field" in the heart of the city? I haven't liked the new Public Square from the start and this response just reinforced it.
  4. When I read your original comment, this is exactly what I thought you were alluding to. And I agree.

I'm all for just getting rid of local taxes entirely and sharing state taxes equitably by population.
  6. Smells like politics. Any chance CSX is trying to gum up the works in order to get some federal funding from Biden's Amtrak expansion plans?
  7. I don't even see this graphic in the article.
  8. Europe's cities were destroyed and not only rebuilt, but actually RESTORED in many cases. Buildings were saved as best they could, and where not similar replacements were constructed. Sadly our cities have been lost to time now after 60 years of freeways.
  9. It's the "No State Tax" tornado and hurricane alley. What insurance doesn't cover our federal taxes does (socialism).
  10. It is Peloton. Maybe they expect all employees to ride bicycles to work? 🤷‍♂️
  11. Are there any early hints as to Dewine's feelings on this plan?
  12. You are correct I had forgotten about that. However in these kinds of articles directed at out-of-towners and new transplants, it is dis-ENGINE-ous (get it?) to show a steam train to people who may believe it is steam full time.
  13. Not at all. In fact I put "paint museum" in quotes as a placeholder for the site. I also won't be bothered if it's not public. If they built a 60 story tower on the PS site, I wouldn't be allowed to run freely through the building. I would expect no different from a lowrise.
  14. It's a debatable list, but overall good. I wonder how the Cuyahoga Valley railroad always ends up with pictures of a steam locomotive. I would love to see that again! 15 Things to do in Cleveland if you just moved here or are visiting for the first time https://www.news5cleveland.com/news/local-news/cleveland-metro/15-things-to-do-in-cleveland-if-you-just-moved-here-or-are-visiting-for-the-first-time?fbclid=IwAR3uQR5VUhyDAZS-YvDilnAF04N3BUUCluR4HS4zlOuruh6OYACsQPIqn40

The resurgence of Edgewater park has a big part this negative aspect. On any given nice day, the air is filled with the sounds of not only crotch rockets, but light-covered Harleys blasting music and a large contingent of "tuner cars" with loud exhausts. If you hang out near Don's Lighthouse it's disheartening to see them all wind up and take off eastbound on the Shoreway. It makes me wish there were speed camera tickets again.
  16. I was very against the Sherwin Williams low-rise "paint museum", but hearing how the surroundings might interact gives me hope.
  17. I didn't know this thread existed...but now I do!
  18. LEDs would help this, but yes, I get where you're coming from..,..
  19. This was actually realized in the mid 1990's for the city's bicentennial. Someone should do a "Whatever happened to" follow up to this "Whatever happened to" article from 2012 (updated in 2019). Cleveland's bicentennial project to light Flats bridges: Whatever happened to ...? https://www.cleveland.com/metro/2012/06/clevelands_bicentennial_projec.html

I was actually glad I stayed up for the end! Great game!
  21. Possibly a darker subject matter about emergence from the pandemic, but Lester Holt will be in Cleveland on Wednesday for Nightly News. Lester Holt bringing ‘NBC Nightly News’ to Cleveland: ‘It’s important we get out and get the pulse of the nation’ CLEVELAND, Ohio -- When Lester Holt took over “NBC Nightly News” in 2015, one of his top priorities was to take the show on the road from time to time. “As a national newscast, I think it’s important that we get out and get the pulse of the nation,” he told cleveland.com. So, beginning Monday, Holt will be broadcasting the program from five cities across the country to see how they’re reemerging from the pandemic. The “Across America” tour includes a stop in Cleveland on Wednesday. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2021/05/lester-holt-bringing-nbc-nightly-news-to-cleveland-its-important-we-get-out-and-get-the-pulse-of-the-nation.html?utm_source=facebook&utm_medium=social&utm_campaign=clevelanddotcom_sf&fbclid=IwAR1WYrteDyy8HmY3WjvONaj5dY-ArcQtAvbqQZ3Z6BnXospnVfPPh1Y7d7s
  22. Proper maintenance = the City of Cleveland cannot be in charge. They struggle to maintain their current assignments. Any future parks need to be put under the stewardship of the Metroparks.

You wouldn't believe have the stuff that happens with city employees. It's amazing anything gets done!

    What is it? Voter landscaping?
  25. Does this include Federal dollars for Amtrak station parking? And while I'm thinking of it, would we ever have a chance to load cars on an Amtrak train, like they do in some markets?
