  1. This Census and the next are likely to be highly affected by the baby boomers, the oldest of whom turned 64 in 2010 and are all moving into retirement (and physically to southern states).

There are lots of locals working the event. So much so the local IATSE (stagehands union) had to put out calls throughout the state finding more people because they couldn't staff it locally. Along with the locals, there are THOUSANDS of out of town personnel staying in hotels and spending their per diems here, which is even more important!
  3. Perhaps off topic, but why is this?

I'm sure these kinds of things are popping up all over red state America. Your tax dollars hard at work!
  5. There was a discharge "canal" that goes under I90. This of course would be below lake level, so prone to flooding even if they did drain and repurpose it.
  6. When is Dr Amy throwing her hat in the ring? 😜
  7. For those who listened to "The End" back in the 90's, we lost Sean "Bull" Robertson today (apparently from COVID according to one Facebook post). He was a staple on Cleveland radio then, and after radio ended up behind the bar and several local establishments, most recently a long run at Lincoln Park Pub in Tremont. He will be missed greatly.

The stage is coming along nicely
  9. And now Bernie is throwing his hat in the ring to be the most Trumpy GOP Senate candidate in Ohio. I'm sure he won't be paying attention to Tower City any longer.
  10. Would love to see an accountability study of this! How much was spent, vs how many businesses relocated from LA to Ohio. I'm guessing the number would start with .00
  11. True--and it would benefit downtown residents in many ways over nothing. Combine this kind of retail with the usual casino located outlet mall fare and it would be game changing for downtown life.
  12. Can't wait to imbibe there!
  13. This site seems to beg for a rooftop restaurant/bar. Am I missing this in any of the renderings?
  14. Which begs the question, "how did she get her gig?"
  15. With the older artists I work with, it really is just more a function of rest and relaxation. If we want a party, we'll find it. We certainly don't want to be forced to live in one by returning to a hotel attached to a venue. We also don't want our bus drivers staying there as they sleep during the day while we are at the show. The crew would be ok, so long as they are driving after the show overnight on buses.
  16. As a touring music manager professional, you NEVER want to stay in a hotel attached to a venue. Too many drunk fans roaming about.
  17. What's funny about this is most of the bigger shows in recent years at the Masonic have been Grog Shop productions.
  18. Very true--however with a landlocked airport in the middle of a urban area you never know. It always helps to have land in proximity. Global warming could shift prevailing winds, making a longer Runway 10/28 more attractive. Or a multimodal Amtrak/Red Line/Rental Car facility could become fashionable...
  19. I'm surprised the city isn't interested in the property for future airport expansion.
  20. I love this sound...the airhorn, the pass (with doppler effect) and the cars whisking by. If you're up early on the near west side you can hear Amtrak whisking past Edgewater and Battery Park.
  21. Such a shame. Imagine all those buildings as converted lofts right on the river....
  22. I was thinking the same. Or a cheese grater. Despite the bad rendering, I don't mind the addition to the top to add a new vertical element to the design.
  23. I'm not sure of the geography of the Columbus rail route, but it would be great to have an OSU Campus stop as well.
  24. All while the employees risked exposure and uncomfortable conditions treating patients during the pandemic. But hey...breast enhancements were not allowed for 4 months so everyone must suffer!
