  1. I thought the first KFC was founded in Corbin, KY sometime in the mid 30's? Can anyone verify that?

I quit riding buses a long time ago due to a few violent incidents that happened to me. I would however ride a light rail system possibly to go to festivals, Dragon's games n such. I would ask what scheduling problems have arisen to a few of you regarding rail transport, but since Dayton/Cincinnati do not currently have any in place I guess no one could really answer that. Out of towner's wanna answer this one? :| As for my current mode of transportation, my job involves driving around the Dayton region and servicing computers. So, unfortunately I average about 500-550 miles per week, and with today's gas dilemma, it has become a less attractive job. :-(

    ^---LOL! I'll bet!
  5. Nothing yet. I've been having my eyes it and haven't seen or heard anything.
  6. ^---I agree. I think people are nitpicking the logo a little too much. Let's not forget that the Kendel logo going on Carew will probably be much much worse IMHO.
  7. ...and I noticed it the article is saying 41 stories...up from 40. Does this mean a little additional height?
  8. This was posted a month ago. Good lord we are slacking! Check out the new rendering! Sorry it's so big, but damn is that awesome or what! HOK-Designed Office Tower In Downtown Cincinnati Will Be Iconic Landmark In The ‘Queen City’ 41-story Great American Building at Queen City Square will be city’s tallest tower, crowned by a distinctive tiara. Cincinnati (Vocus/PRWeb) April 17, 2008-- The crown jewel of Cincinnati’s skyline – the Great American Building at Queen City Square – is moving toward reality following approval by the city’s Urban Design Review Board. This world-class, signature office building will complete our one-million-square-foot Queen City Square master-planned development Designed by HOK, the 41-story, 800,000 square-foot office tower awaits final approval from the City Council before taking shape as the city’s tallest and most iconic structure. HOK Founding Partner Gyo Obata designed the building and its unique tiara top to serve as a distinctive landmark for Cincinnati, the “Queen City.” “This building will redefine the Cincinnati skyline and serve as an instantly recognizable beacon to the city,” Obata said. “There isn’t another building in the world that resembles this.” The façade of the building will include a contemporary look, constructed with glass and aluminum. The building will include numerous environmentally sustainable features and is expected to be the “greenest” office tower in downtown Cincinnati. Construction of the Great American Building at Queen City Square is anticipated to begin in mid-2008, with completion expected in 2011. http://www.emediawire.com/releases/HOK/Queen_City_Square/prweb867734.htm
  9. ^^^Oh, I didn't mean to imply members should be forced to vote, sorry. Maybe there could be a "No thanks" option or whatever and they would never be bothered again. ;-)
  10. The original thread got locked, but I had a question...or a suggestion...or whatever this would be, but anyway... I know this is over (and congrats UncleRando!), but maybe next time may I suggest a different approach since there were only 34 votes cast? Is there a way to utilize a private messaging polling system to be sent to all registered members of Urban Ohio? So basically when they log in, a private message box will pop up much in the same way a private message sent from another member would. You could then cast a vote from there? That way, it's just kind of "in their face" and will more likely to get a vote from many more members than from those just browsing the forums? This may or may not have been done before, but I don't recall seeing it. Just a thought....
  11. Looks like the Dragons will advance to the next round by beating the Jamestown Jammers 53% to 47% with just over 12,000 votes. Also advancing are the clinton Lumberjacks, Quad City River Bandits and Wichita Wingnuts.
  12. Company to move downtown, add jobs Tuesday, March 25, 2008 DAYTON — Real Art, a creative services company, said it will buy and renovate a downtown building for its headquarters and design studio. Real Art said it will relocate to 520 E. First St. near Fifth Third Field in Dayton's Webster Station district. The company expects to add 15 employees to its work force of 28 full-time employees after it relocates from its current East Sixth Street offices, management said on Monday, March 24. The city of Dayton is providing a $250,000 grant from its development fund to support Real Art's investment, the company said. The company specializes in print collateral, packaging, Web site development and interactive CD-RM design. Its customers have included General Motors Corp., Toyota, NCR Corp. and the Children's Medical Center of Dayton, management said. ^^^That sounds strangely similar to Venezuela or a few mid-East countries and their oil supply. :argue:

“Investors should always remember that water flows toward money—it’s not different than oil or electricity. The booming cities of the west will not ‘run dry’ no matter how complex the water situation becomes.” - Grady Gammage
  15. This is freakin awesome! I LOVE Coca Cola memorabilia! My bathroom and kitchen are all Coca Cola collectibles! This will have to be on my list of places to see this summer. Thanks for the post!
  16. A retention pond for what? White Water Canyon? :-D
  17. BTW, voting for the logo's is currently open if you wanna have a little fun... http://www.cnbc.com/id/23791565
  18. Is the Mudhen logo in the contest? I didn't see it.
  19. The animation shows the ride going over Swan Lake. I'm sure it will be back. I'll admit, this is one thing Cedar Fair is good at...utilizing lake theming. Now if they'd just refill the pond around the Beast...

I understand what you are saying, but people are going to take vacations nonetheless. so I don't think it will effect them anymore than any other tourists destination. Everyone's saying oil prices will kill them. Well you kinda have to fly or drive ANYWHERE you go these days...not just Vegas. So if Vegas goes down because of oil prices, I would think everyone else would be affected too.

^^They STILL are trying to convey a more family oriented and kid friendly image...and they are doing quite well with it. Vegas is also currently the 5th most visited city in the US and 48th most visited city in the world. So I highly doubt that is going to die in just 20 years fellas. I hate to burst your bubbles, but this is not a suburban shopping center fighting with other suburban shopping centers. This is a unique metro that offers something no other metro in the US can compete with. As for the 20 projects dropped in 2 years, well when you build 300+ projects in those same 2 years, 20 really doesn't sound so bad anymore. In 2007, there was actually a shortage of construction workers...http://www.lvbusinesspress.com/articles/2007/02/19/news/iq_12582944.txt, so if you are having trouble finding construction work in Vegas, you are not looking hard enough.
  22. So, I would conclude by those pics, that "Mustang" is official. I kinda hope that is a working name though. I know it's a horse which somewhat relates to the old west, but it really doesn't sit well with a river town based theme....then again, neither does Beast or Crypt...I'm just rambling now, ain't I?
