  1. It's a financial decision guys. If it costs more to renovate than to build new, then build new. That will allow them to use financing elsewhere. That building is in absolute horrible shape. 30 years of break ins, vandalism, weather and wear have rendered the building practically unsafe. At least they are studying the idea of reuse. Let's give them credit.
  2. Just when I was getting all respect for you :-P lol, j/k of course!
  3. ^--- Good one!
  4. ^---I seen one ;-)

You guys know you really got Chris going when he posts 3 times in less than 24 hours on the same topic. :-D

^---Just 2 more years. Our combined metro will squash little STL like a bug! ;-)

^---I've seen a few Ohio commercials here n there....
  8. Hey! I got pics of the Peace Truck too!
  9. Ok. Now I'll even admit this is getting re-friggin-diculous. What are they going to do with these buildings when they cannot fill the vacant space? Turn them into gigantic monuments of building failures?
  10. I could not help but notice on the photos section of http://www.gatewayquarter.com, there is a link to an UrbanOhio thread. That's pretty cool.
  11. This may have presented a problem for Cincinnati during the Olympic bid. Spreading events out to 4 other metropolitan areas? I'm pretty sure Atlanta stayed in Atlanta, Salt Lake City stayed in Salt Lake City and Los Angeles stayed in...well somewhere out there. I can understand Dayton, because you can drive to Dayton's metro in 20 mins, but to include areas that are 2 to 3 hours away may have pushed the IOC's decision away from Cincinnati.

    ^---Nice pic!
  13. None yet. I keep an eye out on the proposed property for any work, signs or sampling. If I see anything, I will post it promptly!
  14. I'm not sure about Cleveland or even Louisville. I know the Columbus Crew stadium was a proposal. Dayton's proposals were UD Arena, 5/3 Field and something in Moraine (although I don't remember what).
  15. A lot are already vacant. I'm assuming that the leaders of Dubai are still letting this mess continue because they feel when all is said and done, it will bring more tourism and industry to the city??

If that were Toledo, I might actually move there.

I actually never noticed a difference in accents in Florence as compared to Dayton. I lived there for 4 years and commuted 2 or 3 times per week back to Dayton for friends and family and couldn't notice any difference at all. Opinions? I had no idea that Pittsburgh was that fragmented. Is that from sprawl or land topography? I thought Dayton had picked up Darke County as part of the MSA?

They tested equipment and supposed "test" flights at Huffman Prairie, but of course they were not official. But I do agree that Dayton alone has North Carolina beat when it comes to historical contributions...let alone the rest of Ohio.
  19. Let's not forget that Dayton was supposed to take part and have a few venues for the Cincinnati Olympic Bid as well. I somehow think that there was not as much cooperation between the cities to help make this happen. The two big kids really need to start working together to benefit the region more. I know some of you Cincy guys don't like that idea, but it would really be a big plus.
  20. The official site is queencitysquare.com. They will not split the tower into a separate site because the two are part of the same development. No need for them to waste money or domain space, but I am sure you will see a rework of the website.
  21. I would have interest in seeing Dubai, but only for the broad range of architecture it currently is building. Other than that, I have no interest in the city itself. The thing that drives me nuts is the fact they seem to have no problem building this type of stuff. Must be nice to have the funds for a bridge of this type to be built. Someone send the money our way, so we can rebuild Spence! ;-)

That's the only thing that chaps my buns about the Wright's. What's the reason they didn't do it on Huffman Prairie? I never really new why they chose NC.

I agree. Now if you will excuse me... Ugh, now I'm gonna have nightmares.
  24. Throw some track and a couple coaster cars on there and then we're talking!
