While it is a well maintained and beautiful campus, doesn't it get boring looking at buildings that all look relatively the same? The only building that looks a little different, imo, is the Architecture building.

I think a lot of people would love to see something done w/that parking lot. Mixed income residential would be ideal. I think that would be a pipedream for a long time that anything will get built there.

What did that huge building seen in the distance of pic #3 used to be? Housing? I always marvel at it from the freeway when driving to Detroit. I can't imagine how impressive it was when it opened.

I had their sampler when they first opened, don't recall any standouts, maybe time to try it again. Its kind of amazing how much beer parallels wine now. They was an article in the ABJ recently how micorbrews are starting to use aluminum cans again b/c they retain the freshness better.

Was in the Stow area this weekend, so I drove over to Kent and went past the Alley. Looks a lot different than 5 years ago. Great for the community. Nice to see Jason's Barber Shop down there, had some friends that liked them when in school. The hotel next door is, unfortunately, a waste at this point. The owner had the whole thing gutted and was planning on doing student rentals. When the city inspector went through he said it would need some major structural repairs, pretty much not worth doing. That was about 4 years ago, haven't heard anything about it since.

I heard that they have an architect that does all the build-outs. Now, if you said you wouldn't buy if you couldn't use your own person, I'm sure they would let it slide. That is odd about the elevator. If it was only in one unit I would say it was for ADA, but it's in all the penthouses.

Yes, traveled through there twice last month coming from dt to university circle for events. As I stated, there are huge lots already vacant from 55th to 61st. I would rather see a structure like that crumble than be torn down to create another unmaintained lot. At least it is being used for public art on the facade now. The idea of creating a "park" would infer that there are enough people already living in that area to support it. I understand money is the driving factor, so what myself or others want is fairly irrelevant at this point.

Why? At least its something on the landscape. Already, 55th to 61st, both sides of Euclid are vacant. That is a very urban area for some and there is nothing there. Why not just knock them all down, right? The fact that you mention this plot of land in the same sentence with the most successful urban park in the world is laughable. It has already been stated that what it comes down to anybody who has money can buy it and do whatever they want with it, unfortunately, and only one buyer has stepped up.

That space is way bigger than they need. I am still surprised Barley House is able to make it in that huge space. Never been a fan of their beers, some are ok I guess.

Why would they relocate, that is one of the best locations in downtown? Are they trying to get into the 22 Exchange Bldg? Personally, I don't think a change of venue will make up for their sub-par beer. The problem with the sustainability movement is that you can never do enough, you can never satisfy everyone, much like anything in society today, someone will always find the negative.

That design must have taken at least 4 hours to come up with.

My first thought when I saw those pics was "Is that plywood?" Remember when homes used to be made out of real materials? It's actually OSB, which, in most cases is a step below plywood. As far as we know, wood was the first building material, what did they used to build with?

I have no problem with that, but some have argued that the land the animals are grazing on would be better served as land for growing crops.

The problem that I have with the vegetable vs. animal debate is how far do you go? I want to eat meat b/c I enjoy it. Just b/c one person doesn't think it's "green" in their eyes, doesn't mean that I have to change my way of life. What did I do "green" today? I chose to live in a sustainable environment in which I can walk to the grocery store, entertainment and restaurants. That adds up to more that most will ever do.
