  1. It uses all local ingredients, meaning it reaps what the land and growers sow. How is that not green?
  2. New fieldhouse building at St. Vincent-St. Mary's, designed by WRL
  3. I went there semi voluntarily when some friends picked Paladar as a dinner destination. We saw a sign out from that proudly read: "Experience Latin America.... without traveling outside your comfort zone." OMG on so many levels. isn't that what experiencing a different culture is about-stepping out side your normal bubble , be it in Latin America, or even a Latin neighborhood? This was the sanitized for your protection version I guess. That kind of sums up Eton collection in my mind. great points
  4. Sounds like Mini Bar in DC. Bourdain had a segment on No Reservations

Interim director chosen to take reins Cleveland Museum of Art hires Deborah Gribbon as it searches for current supervisor's successor Published on Thursday, Aug 20, 2009 The Cleveland Museum of Art must be breathing a sigh of relief after announcing last week that former J. Paul Getty Museum Director Deborah Gribbon will come on board Sept. 14 as interim director, taking the reins from Timothy Rub, who leaves Sept. 21 to become the director of the Philadelphia Museum of Art. Gribbon has agreed to lead the Cleveland Museum of Art for about a year as it searches for a successor to Rub, who is leaving after only three years to succeed longtime Philadelphia Museum of Art director Anne d'Harnoncourt, who died last year... more at: http://www.ohio.com/news/53771772.html
  7. While I do agree that a "living wall" is more of a long-term solution for a temporary problem, this is exactly the type of thing that you would want people to get "attached to". I would be more than happy if people would complain if/when it got taken down, b/c hopefully it would spur other businesses and/or the city to do more things like it.
  8. as long as it's not the ipod one. Why not a "living wall", just as w28th proposed here: http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,14701.0/msg,410185.html http://www.urbanohio.com/forum2/index.php/topic,14701.720.html
  9. Late now, but Lock 3 has free concerts on Friday & Saturday in the summer http://www.lock3live.com/concerts.aspx
  10. I had a more elaborate response, but it got deleted for some reason, but I think you're probably right. As the project evolved the angle decreased slightly. As was posted earlier, I wouldn't be surprised if it was eliminated.

  12. New housing to welcome UA students this week Private downtown complex offers private baths, by-the-bed leases Starting Saturday, activity in downtown Akron will ratchet up a few notches. That's move-in day at 22 Exchange, the new apartment complex for 141 college students — most attending the University of Akron — who have signed yearlong leases for two- , three- or four-bedroom units. The first phase of the complex is full, and there is a waiting list, said project director Michael Weiss of developer Richland Communities in Middleburg Heights. 13. HAHA, don't start it again! That exact argument was discussed a page or two back.
  14. I agree, went a month ago and it was awesome. There was only one thing on the whole menu that didn't intrigue me and that was the grilled salmon.
  15. I was told they are going to be blocking some lanes specifically for gameday traffic to ease congestion. Visted the stadium last week, here's the pics: http://www.flickr.com/photos/41459155@N02/sets/72157621912128205/
  16. That person's comment totally hit a nerve. I usually don't post on random websites or blogs, but he/she done pissed me off :whip: The good thing is that most of the comments on Facebook are reasonable locations.
  17. Except that there was no camera lens because the image was computer generated... When you do a rendering you can choose what type of camera lens you want to use, just like in real life, that's why I put the examples up of the rendered box.
  18. If you're referring to this image: the reason that it juts out is b/c of the camera lens, not the actual building design. let me show you a quick example of how a lens can make a square block look more interesting: 15mm 35mm
  19. Maybe try and contact somebody from Downtown Akron Partnership. That, along with bringing new business in, is what they are there for. (at least I hope) http://www.downtownakron.com/
  20. Yes it would have. It's too bad that there isn't any affordable & decent downtown housing for someone like you. Spicer Village seems decent, but that's also a little pricey and its across from the football stadium, so not a good location for you.
  21. Some people lament over steel buildings, other purple warehouses. To each his own.
  22. That doesn't sound like a rave review to me. Nor did any of your other comments about this structure. If you meant something otherwise, then I apologize for the misunderstanding. All I was asking is that it have some design quality to it. You're right, I'm not going to give a rave review about an of-the-shelf steel building.
