Ravenna: Development and News
It says office building in the story. But likely a staging yard and shop. A company like this would likely only have a couple people on the property during the day. He said he plans to store vehicles on the property in the short term, then eventually move the business to the Ravenna site from Mogadore once the building is constructed. "We mostly operate in the field," he said. "We're mostly out on the sites, and would come here to swap gear."

Akron: Random Development and News
There wasn't much open there at the last days of the pedestrian mall. An antique store and Cashmere Cricket. Both are still there. What helped it come back was of course the vehicle traffic. (Because we live in NE Ohio and as was mentioned, people have to drive by a store to know it's there). The resurgence in business was due to two factors: city business grants and the creation of the historic district which allowed for property owners to submit for historic tax credits. So, would this have worked without subsidy? There was a recent proposal for new apartments with acceptance of a TIF from the city. (I believe) Without that the project did not move forward. So even with all of the good being done, subsidy is still necessary according to developers.

Akron: Downtown: Development and News
This was previously bought by Testa. From what I understood they had plans done, not sure they were full permit drawings. They had done some destructive investigation. I would think they were also the ones that secured the historic tax credits. So it must not have penciled out for them. Also, let's not forget that they City had also sold the former YWCA building on High St. to a developer to renovate for apartments. I have not heard anything on that but I believe the City was supposed to move all of their offices out shortly after it was sold.

They have fencing up but have not really mobilized on the Lock 3 Park project. They had to build a temporary stage on the West side of the canal to continue the summer concerts. That meant tearing up the parking lot and installing grass, power, stage, etc... The deck attached to Akron Civic Theater is complete. Looks like they had scaffolding staged to paint a mural on a wall.

yanni_gogolak replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionProposal for burn tower at planned Cuyahoga Falls fire station divides residents April Helms Akron Beacon Journal Around 100 residents attended Tuesday's Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission meeting. City wants to replace aging Station 4 with a new fire station, which would also have a training facility. Several residents spoke out against a proposed 45-foot burn tower, voicing fears about safety issues. Fire chief said the tower would provide a safe, controlled means to provide firefighting training. Everyone at Tuesday evening's Cuyahoga Falls Planning Commission meeting seemed to be in agreement on two points: A new fire station is needed, and firefighter training is a priority. A third issue, however, divided the crowd of around 100 residents — whether to build a burn tower near a proposed new fire station. More than a dozen people spoke about a 45-foot burn tower planned at an $8.3 million fire station to be built at 849 Bath Road — a replacement for the current Station 4 at 3089 Northampton Road. https://www.beaconjournal.com/story/news/local/2023/06/26/residents-raise-concerns-over-proposed-burn-tower-in-cuyahoga-falls-fire-station-training-center/70342738007/?utm_source=nabj-DailyBriefing&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=daily-briefing&utm_term=Content List - Stacking - optimized&utm_content=OHIO-AKRON-NLETTER65
