  1. My comment was more around the utilitarian design of it. But I guess it will compliment that new business school nicely.
  2. Oh, which Knez project is your favorite? Or can't decide?
  3. Park Place. Kent State’s First Parking Deck to Improve Access, Allow for Campus Transformation The new Main Street parking deck will be located off of Midway Drive between Williamson House, Nixson Hall and the Center for the Performing Arts. The new $29 million facility will offer mostly covered parking spaces that have been sought by faculty and students, including commuter students, whose classes are typically scheduled along that area of campus. Larry Emling, manager of parking services who has worked at Kent State for 21 years, said he has frequently been asked by students, “When are you going to build a parking deck?” He now has the answer. https://www.kent.edu/kent/news/park-place-kent-states-first-parking-deck-improve-access-allow-campus-transformation uhhhh.....?
  4. Agreed, but my whole point was that they don't have a need for a building of the size being requested. They would have empty space which they would have to rent or leave dark. I can't see something like that being approved unless another anchor was signed on.
  5. GM, LG Chem to Announce Joint Venture In Lordstown December 5, 2019 YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio — Reuters is reporting this morning that General Motors and South Korea’s LG Chem will announce a $2 billion joint venture to build an electric vehicle production facility in the Lordstown area. According to reports, GM and LG Chem will each invest $1 billion in their joint venture. 6. I'm not sure which Comcast Center you're referring to, but I'm guessing the newest, the Technology Center. Comcast is #32 on the Fortune 500 (SW #177), in the 6th largest city in the U.S.. And their tower is only 60 stories with a hotel and retail. You're asking for 90 stories.
  7. Yea, that sounds great and all, but you're missing one thing, budget. Sherwin Williams is a publicly traded company and decisions like this will ultimately need approval. You're asking them to double the size of their building just because of the skyline.
  8. Akron’s Bowery project meets major deadlines, nears finish line By Jim Mackinnon Beacon Journal/Beaconjournal.com Posted Nov 28, 2019 at 7:31 PM The Bowery redevelopment project intended to revitalize a prominent part of downtown Akron made it to the Thanksgiving finish line — with some pieces not quite over that line just yet. Most of the six downtown buildings have met their major construction deadlines, although finishing work on the long-vacant and blighted smaller structures will continue into upcoming weeks, said Don Taylor, head of Welty Building Co., general contractor and partner in the Bowery Development Group. https://www.beaconjournal.com/news/20191128/akronrsquos-bowery-project-meets-major-deadlines-nears-finish-line?utm_source=akron-morning-roundup&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20191202&utm_content=article5-headline
  9. The only thing I've heard was Royal Docks brewing was considering it but they are going to another location now. I had not heard anything about a grocer. Where did you hear that? Main Street construction drags on through June By Doug Livingston Beacon Journal/Beaconjournal.com Posted Nov 21, 2019 at 6:21 PM Akron won’t be unwrapping a new Main Street for Christmas, as some had hoped. Instead, city officials expect a downtown Main Street Corridor to be ready for two-way vehicle traffic by June. https://www.beaconjournal.com/news/20191121/main-street-construction-drags-on-through-june?utm_source=akron-morning-roundup&utm_medium=email&utm_campaign=20191122&utm_content=article3-headline

  11. Why? There has already been soil borings seen being taken. As was pointed out, Vocon was part of the team on some of the projects, not the only designer. The Cleveland Convention Center was headed by LMN Architects out of Seattle and the Associate Architect was URS. I think Vocon just did interiors on that project. They have worked with Gensler on a number of projects. Gensler is the largest architectural firm in the world. To the point they are double the size of #2 based on income.
  12. Yea, it's pretty terrible. New road could mean significant new development in Jackson Dan Shingler November 17, 2019 04:00 AM updated 4 hours ago A new street built in July could mean a significant new development in Jackson Township — if its proposed developer can find buyers or tenants. Scott Fitzpatrick, owner of Fitzpatrick Enterprises in Canton and a longtime developer around Belden Village Mall and other parts of town, has been trying to get Strip Avenue near I-77 extended since at least 2013. Now that it's in, he says he's hoping to turn an approximately 50-acre site into an office or mixed-use campus. https://www.crainscleveland.com/real-estate/new-road-could-mean-significant-new-development-jackson
  13. Oh Wow! Children’s Museum to Buy McCrory Building By George Nelson | November 18, 2019 YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – Oh Wow! The Roger & Gloria Jones Children’s Center for Science & Technology will go from being a tenant of its downtown building to being its owner by the end of the year. The purchase will give the downtown science museum the ability to better determine its own destiny, museum officials say, and eventually enable it to move the entrance to Market Street with a bus drop-off area as depicted in a proposed rendering above. https://businessjournaldaily.com/oh-wow-childrens-center-to-buy-mccrory-building/

Life was moving so well he opened Spotted Owl in Akron on Oct. 21. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2019/11/spotted-owl-expands-adds-to-cocktail-culture-in-akron-photos-video.html
  20. Eighty-Three Brewery settling in to Akron’s East End (photos, video) Posted Nov 06, 5:45 AM By Marc Bona, cleveland.com CLEVELAND, Ohio - The first thing you might wonder about when you walk into Eighty-Three Brewery on Akron's East End is why the name. Not the area code - that's 330. There's an Ohio 83, but it doesn't cut through Summit County. It's not the 83rd brewery in the area. Is the owner's favorite Cleveland Browns player Ricky Seals-Jones, No. 83? Nah. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2019/11/eighty-three-brewery-settling-in-to-akrons-east-end-photos-video.html
