  1. Akron opens two new fire stations Updated Sep 12, 5:10 PM; Posted Sep 12, 5:09 PM By Robin Goist, cleveland.com AKRON, Ohio – Akron Mayor Dan Horrigan and other city leaders on Thursday cut the ribbons to officially open two new fire stations. Members of the public gathered to tour Fire Station 2, on East Market Street near East Exchange and South Arlington streets in Middlebury, and Fire Station 4, on West Thornton Street near South Main Street in downtown. https://www.cleveland.com/akron/2019/09/akron-opens-two-new-fire-stations.html
  2. How's Avalon Pizza? That might be first on the list of places to try for me and that is probably appealing to most people.
  3. Thanks for the suggestions. If I'm on my own next time I would probably check out Space Kat or Kitchen Post. These look like good local staples but if you have people in from out of town for a convention a hot dog, sandwich and bbq place with 5 food options aren't going to cut it. These are the people you want for your downtown because they have expendable cash. Compare those to places in Downtown Akron like Crave, Bricco, Diamond Grill, Boiling Pot, Pad Thai and Cilantro and you will see what I mean.
  4. Yes, they also finished the other new station on the east side off Main St. on Thorton. They are demolishing the old one now. Middlebury Commons is a nice project. I hope they are able to get some retail in it.
  5. Well this stinks, cross posted from the general Akron thread: Earlier this year, the brewery announced that it was interested in opening a pub and small brewery in downtown Akron as part of the $42 million Bowery redevelopment project. But Sutula said that possibility has fallen through. https://www.ohio.com/news/20190829/royal-docks-and-crave-teaming-up-for-new-brewery-restaurant-in-akron
  6. I don't know where any of those are. I use Google Maps and tap restaurants nearby.
  7. What's Gordo paying you? ?
  8. If you have a way to redirect some of that risk of a restaurant, it's probably worth it. Restaurants are high risk and Crave is already in the space and probably has the lease on it.
  9. Building Amphitheater, Park Cost City Just Over $8M By George Nelson | September 6, 2019 YOUNGSTOWN, Ohio – The city will end up paying just over $8 million for the Youngstown Foundation Amphitheatre and the Raymond John Wean Foundation Park. On Thursday, the city’s Board of Control approved the sixth and final modification to its contract with Brock Builders Inc. of North Lima, adding $62,262 to the contract. The various additions and deductions for nonperformance of work brings the total for the contract to $8,013,311. https://businessjournaldaily.com/city-pays-just-over-8m-for-amphitheater-park/
  10. LOL, right, that's funny. I go to the Covelli Centre every year and there are no places to eat downtown Youngstown on the weekend. This past year we settled for Bistro 1907 which is new since I went to the same convention last year. Very nice space but the food wasn't great. I will give it another try though as I liked the menu.
  11. Interesting, I can't image there is the proper ceiling height in those bars to have brewing equipment. They have more info. on their FB page.

  13. How integral is that to the completion of the project? Meaning, if they don't get a tax abatement will they kill it?

  21. You called Barberton and Kenmore "...one of the most depressed corners of the metropolitan area..." They are actually quite the opposite of the progress that has / has not happened in Greater Akron.
  22. Sounds like you haven't been following any of the work in Kenmore and Barberton that's been done the past couple of years.
