Cuyahoga Falls: Development and News
yanni_gogolak replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionAh, you are correct, my fault! I assumed it was the golf course that has been closed for a couple seasons. Not the one that was still operational last season. They are in close proximity to each other. I still have the same thoughts however and push even more towards development as it is even closer to the commercial area.

Cuyahoga Falls: Development and News
yanni_gogolak replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Northeast Ohio Projects & ConstructionIt's been closed for about two years. Plenty of time for someone to buy it if it was a profitable business. Losing Brandywine this year is really going to hurt us high handicap golfers. MetroParks has owned it for a couple of years. They are not going to operate it as a golf course. They are going to return it to a more natural state, which is already happening. Why are you against housing? CVNP has 33,000 acres and SMP has 14,100. There are apartments right across the street from this land and the road is pretty much all light industrial use. The course is landlocked by light industrial in the front, the Cuyahoga Valley River in the rear, apartments on one side and a tennis center on the other. Doesn't seem like public park space to me. Does it you?

Akron: East End: Development and News
I can't find any info. readily available. But much like this scenario, I don't think they are used as a means to create "entertainment", just more a vehicle to open more liquor licenses. I want to say when they built Northside Lofts they need it there because they had plans for several new restaurants at the time. Not positive though.

Akron considers an entertainment district outside of downtown By Doug Livingston Beacon Journal/Ohio.com Posted Mar 25, 2019 at 7:48 PM Updated Mar 25, 2019 at 9:26 PM City of Akron leaders are entertaining the idea of more liquor permits to support growing interest in living, shopping and eating at East End. Industrial Realty Group (IRG), which is behind the mixed-use redevelopment of the old Goodyear Tire & Rubber Co. headquarters on East Market Street, received a warm welcome at City Hall Monday as leaders endorsed a plan to designate the company’s 80 acres as the only entertainment district in Akron outside of downtown. https://www.ohio.com/news/20190325/akron-considers-entertainment-district-outside-of-downtown I was not aware that there were two already Downtown. It certainly does not feel like it. I went to Toledo recently and was pleasently surprised with their area around the baseball stadium and hockey arena. They have a entertainment district that allows open container as well. https://www.downtowntoledo.org/dora/

What the heck is going on with Main Street? March 2nd, 2019 by Noor Hindi If you’ve visited downtown Akron recently, you’ll have noticed that Main Street is packed with construction vehicles and city workers in safety helmets. To call it chaos would be an understatement. To try to drive through it is difficult. And if you find yourself sighing heavily at the road closure and detour signs, please know I’m with you in spirit. But all of this raises a few questions: What the heck is going on over there? Why can’t I make it to Pots and Pans Jamaican Cuisine without dodging construction debris? Will we ever have our beloved Main Street back? https://thedevilstrip.com/what-the-heck-is-going-on-with-main-street/

The Square Scullery owners set to open ghost kitchen in Akron Updated Feb 17; Posted Feb 19, 5:30 AM By Marc Bona, cleveland.com AKRON, Ohio – Someone once said the three biggest things for a business are "location, location, location." But for restaurateurs Matt and Heather Ulichney, that couldn't be further from the truth. That's because the Akron couple, who run The Square Scullery food truck, are opening what they say is the city's first "ghost" restaurant. And in that concept, location means little. https://www.cleveland.com/entertainment/2019/02/the-square-scullery-owners-set-to-open-ghost-kitchen-in-akron.html
