The new center, tentatively named the Youngstown Innovation Hub for Defense and Aerospace, hinges on a $26 million grant from the Ohio Department of Development toward the development of an Ohio Innovation Hub, Ewing said. Fire Station No. 12 opens in Akron November 21, 2024 By Staff Writer WEST AKRON — The City of Akron held a ribbon-cutting ceremony Nov. 14 to celebrate the official opening of the new Fire Station No. 12 at 112 S. Hawkins Ave. The original Station No. 12, at 1852 W. Market St., was first built in 1952 and has served the community for more than 70 years. The new station is 16,800 square feet and cost approximately $9.5 million. It is a state-of-the-art facility designed to better serve the community and keep the city’s firefighter/medics safer and healthier. Without knowing who the buyer is I think it's a little of both. Being that he's not one of the city three T developers (Testa, Troppe, Taylor), I am assuming the buyer has experience with a high-rise and can do better at filling the space. That would be the ultimate goal of the sale in relation to the city needs. My first thought as to the buyer would be Mckinley who owned the FirstEnergy building before they recently sold it to FE and they owne O'Neil's building (last I knew). But I'm also thinking they would be cautious in getting back into a building of that scale given the current office climate.

Lock 3 to reopen Nov. 29 November 14, 2024 By Staff Writer DOWNTOWN AKRON — Akron Mayor Shammas Malik announced the grand reopening celebration for downtown’s Lock 3 will take place Nov. 29 immediately following the city’s Welcome Santa Parade. The parade begins downtown at Cedar and South Main streets at 6 p.m. and features colorful floats, marching groups, stilt walkers, costumed characters and more. Afterward, the festivities will continue in the newly renovated Lock 3 with music, a ribbon cutting with speakers, and a drone show at 7 p.m. There will be ice carving with a live demonstration, and residents will see The Grinch, Santa and other costumed characters on-site for photo opportunities. Summa reaches deal to sell Akron health system to for-profit HATCo for $485 million Portrait of Patrick Williams Patrick Williams Akron Beacon Journal Summa Health has reached a definitive agreement to sell the Akron-based health system to for-profit Health Assurance Transformation Co. for $485 million. The deal, announced Thursday, also includes a commitment by HATCo to invest $350 million in capital funding within the first five years and $200 million for "strategic and transformative investments and to drive innovation over the first seven years," according to a news release. Summa execs share more details about planned community foundation A new, separately governed, nonprofit community foundation will be funded by cash remaining after closing adjustments, in addition to "transactions that will happen to facilitate the deal happening, and then anything that is remaining, plus the current restricted funds that exist in our foundation today," Sutton said. It fills the type box with the file attachment window and you can't type anything. It doesn't leave it below the type box like normal. I'm on Edge now and it does not do that, nor on Chrome.
