Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction^100% Agreed. If a business can't accept constructive criticism on their social media outlets, then they should not have them at all. It's a two way street. (in their defense, I've never heard of slim jims in a bloody mary either...) Part of the reason why I like to wait 2 weeks or so from the opening of a new establishment is to let them work their opening kinks out. There's some things you just can't/won't know as an operator until you have real customers and real problems to solve.

mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionAbsolutely; however, they definitely have solid competition on both the coffee (Coffee Emporium) and wine (Abagail St.) fronts already.

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
Interested as to why US added these flights to CVG. Anyone know of any governement contract or business relocation that could have fueled this? I suppose it will be good for connections as well though. DCA is also one of my favorite airports...it's small enough to be really convenient, but big enough that there are frequent flights to lots of places. The Metro access is excellent and possibly the easiest transfer onto public transit of any airport in the US. Unfortunately because the traffic there is heavily business and gov't-related, the fares are quite high which is why most DC-area leisure pax end up out at BWI. Also, DCA has a perimeter rule so there are few flights to the west coast and hardly anything international excpet for YUL & YYZ.

Would also help if there was some greenery/trees/flower pots around. Is this in the cards?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
I too am concerned about Johnny Rocket's. I keep hearing from friends of mine that work downtown that it's just too expensive to justify going for lunch on a regular basis ($17 for burger, fries and a soda - OUCH!) The place is always dead when I go a jog down there at night during the week. Kind of seems like bad timing to open a) in a new location without much foot traffic yet b) in the winter c) without any of the stadium traffic Seems like a ripe location for Five Guys to come in :-)

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
Went to Toby's Kieth's last night for opening weekend and it was indeed packed by 11:30. It's quite a large space and essentially feels like a sports bar with a live music stage. No cover, but drinks were on the more expensive side for Cincinnati ($4 for a domestic bottle) The mix of people was straight-up weird. Lots of UC kids, YPs and even some hipsters, and then much of what I imagine the real target audience is for this place if you get my drift... While this is not really my kind of place, I can guarantee that most of the people in there last night were from the suburbs and came into the city just to check it out. More people coming into the city to see the real progress happening, the Banks especially, is definitely a good thing.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Construction100% Agreed. I'm constantly running to people I know that, even 6 months ago, wouldn't have been caught in OTR. Time are a changing and it seems like Mt. Adams is no longer the go-to spot for YPs with disposable income anymore. I seem to have hard a rumor of a thai place coming soon? Anyone know anything about this?

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
Went to the new Adriatico's last night for a late dinner around midnight and it was indeed PACKED. Our service was fine but the food took awhile since they were busy. It's a nice space, definitely upscale for a college pizza joint, but it's not the biggest place. Nice addition to the area for sure!

The new Adriatico's is on the southern side of McMillian between W. Clifton and Ohio, actually right next to Pomodoris Pizza (friendly neighborhood compeition, perhaps?)

Cleveland: Retail News
Gotta be west side like crocker/RR/westlake...there's already 2 on the east side which are not too far apart.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
We're REALLY going to have something to celebrate when this thing finally gets built. Unbelieveable. I was thinking we'd see a shovel in the ground soon, not a court case and more questionable press, FFS.

Streetcar or rollercoaster? sheesh.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
not sure what anyone else has heard, but my understanding is that there have been discussions about the future of the Millenium Hotel, including demolition. The Singapore-based real esate group that owns the building has not invested in the space in many years. I stayed there once or twice five years ago and it was bad then, who know what it's like now.

so assuming this will be 2 towers built in seperate phases, what would the vacant part of this site look like in the mean time? Do you think they would keep half surface parking, or perhaps use it for staging and trailers, etc?

I would urge everyone to look at 3CDC's track record in this city before making any assumptions about this project. They don't play around and considering how crucial this project is to the CBD and the Fortune 500 "image" of this city, I would expect something solid. In terms of visibility, this site is almost as important as Fountain Square itself considering all the hotels, shopping and Duke Energy Center around. Can't wait for more details and renderings. and fingers crossed for "retail" meaning grocery and a substantial residential/hotel component (one can dream, right?!)

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
^^^ the good thing is that DH is definitely the type of company to utilize innovative design and creative use of space, so I would assume there's a safety net there.

Cincinnati: Downtown: 84.51°
Yeah, it's interesting for sure..... I'm anxious for more details though! Are we assuming this will be solely Dunnhumby with no other tenants or residential/hotel/etc portion? I find it very hard to believe this large and important of a site would JUST be theirs. Seems like a prime site for mixed use...

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionso it was brought to my attention that the bar next to Bakersfield is not actually a part of Bakersfield -- it's a separate business in itself with different owners. Both should open this week. I can't remember the name of this new bar. The price point is supposed to be much more reasonable than Abagail St, also with a big focus on wine.

Cincinnati: Over-the-Rhine: Development and News
mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionBut let's be honest -- the credit for aggressive redevelopment efforts in this area in the first place belongs to 3CDC.

Does anyone know if the hotel is in the phase of the project that they broke ground on today? If so, which area of the development will it occupy and any guesses on the brand?

mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat happened to the Shoe Repair place on Vine? That was a short lived endeavor.... sucks too because that's the kind of (service-oriented) new businesses that the GQ needs, ugh.
