Cincinnati: Clifton: Development and News
not sure if this is the right place to post this, but does anyone know anything about the Interstate Motel site at MLK/Central Parkway by the Hopple Street I-75 exit? The motel, actually located at 3035 W McMicken Ave, ceased operations over the summer and appears that it's being prepped for demolition. All the doors to the rooms have been removed. It's a pretty small piece of land and kind of awkwardly set on a hill. The Hamilton County Auditor website shows the property being owned by the state of OH now...

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
The plan is definitely to keep the law school on that corner and replace the current building (this information coming from people who have worked with the university architect, Mary Beth McGrew). McGrew wants to make the new building as open to the street, and as much a gateway to the campus from Calhoun St. as possible, especially after the University Park Apartments further up Calhoun completely failed to provide the intended gateway and promenade to the campus. Regarding Wilson Memorial Hall (Auditorium), the University has for now dropped demolition plans in favor of reuse, but this is conditional on a lot of factors, including funding, and retrofitting a very challenging building. Is there a timeline on the Wilson Hall project? I think that space will definitely be needed in the near future as UC continues aggressive growth....and it's in such a prime location too.

it's always something with this project. incredibly frustrated as well. I'm chalking it up to "believe it when I see it" status at this point.

Cincinnati: CUF / Corryville: Development and News
mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionFrom the article: "It's either a vacant building or doing something that will jump-start our businesses," said Mike Ealy, community council president. This statement is sad but true I think, especially with a still-uncertain financial environment for developers. That $7 million is not chump change, please don't make it out to be nothing, exurbkid. I also think that Short Vine is a crucial component to moving the Uptown area forward; this project takes care of a major site that might otherwise sit empty. Couple that with the fact that this building will likely see 100% occupancy with a waiting list before it even opens, and I support this project. This area desperately needs housing like this.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights - 65 West Apartments
say what you will about the questionable design choices, but it is my understanding that there is a waiting list of 400+ students for this complex. Each unit is rented for next year, even at these very high premium prices. There is a HUGE demand for housing in in this area that is not functionally obsolete like much of the CUF-area rental property is.

Also, Servatii Pastry Shop did not renew their lease, so the space is also empty. It was being gutted today. Still no updates on the storefront next to the Proud Rooster. I believe it's owned/leased by the Ambar family, but it's not being used for anything. Can't wait to see them working on the IGA! Exciting news indeed!

this is true. I believe they had problems with Molotov cocktails/small bombs way back in the late 60s/early 70s?

also, can we rename this thread something like "Ludlow Ave. Business District Developments" or something? The "renovation" has been completed and the discussion on here is more about the businesses operating there now.

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
the word on the street is that USA3000, the only LCC that operates at CVG, has begun to wind down operations in preparation to cease doing business. This airline serves Chicago as well as a handful of warm-weather leisure vacation destinations from Cincinnati and Cleveland using A320 aircraft. While USA3000 is not a huge airline, their impact of being the only LCC at CVG is pretty big and I think we will see some fare increases to leisure destinations when they close up shop. We'll also see alot of their pax return to IND/DAY/CMH/SDF.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
I moved down to Atlanta for work in early January and was excited about how smoothly the streetcar was panning out. I was looking forward to coming back this spring and see the start of construction. Everything has been looking up after a rough past 3 years or so...finally we see the opening of the first Banks phase, OTR finally coming together steadily and solid plans to start construction Uptown. I move back to Cincinnati next week and I am incredibly frustrated and actually pretty disgusted with the turns this project has taken in basically a ten week time frame. It's things like this that make me confident that leaving Ohio (and specifically Cincinnati) when I graduate in a few months is the right choice all the way.

9 mo. lease April-Dec in Cincinnati
I will be moving back to Cincinnati for school this spring, graduating in December next year. I do not want to sign a full year lease on an apartment and I am sick of subletting. What's the best way to go about looking for a 9 month lease? and does anyone have any contacts that might be able to provide me with this? I am a UC student so the Clifton area is obviously of interest, but I am absolutely willing to live slightly off the beaten path if need be to make this 9mo lease happen. I would consider areas surrounding UC that are easily drivable and/or have good Metro bus access. Any/all tips and suggestions are greatly appreciated! Thanks.

Banquet venues in Cincinnati
Hi Everyone, My student group at UC is currently scouting venues around Cincinnati for our annual May banquet. Typically we have done the hotel thing at the Vernon Manor or UC's Marriott, but I am looking for any other options that we should consider.... We typically have a light dinner, open bar, and DJ/Dancefloor. Obviously we like to keep this on the lower end of the pricing scale, but we are open to exploring all options. Would love to hear some suggestions! Thanks!
