I could be wrong, but I believe some of those were seasonal anyways, so it might not be as bad as it sounds. Can anyone confirm/deny this? VERY surprised to hear about SLC though...that's basically a west coast connection point for DL. ATL-SLC flights are very, very full typically.

The weather has gotten warmer, and the hoodrats are on the prowl around UC. I have an iPhone 3G. I live in Clifton and go to UC. I have tons, tons, tons of dropped calls. Other people around Clifton with iPhone report the same issue. Also, 3G is very slow around Clifton in my opinion, probably due to the popularity of the iPhone and and other 3G devices amongst college students and YPs. I would really advise you to look at some Android devices. I love the iPhone, but I do think Google offers a really enticing product. I still like AT&T, but I am very frustrated with the service quality in the Uptown area.

Unreal...just unreal. Honestly though, good for Kroger for just saying "enough is enough"... That whole place is a disaster...parking and overall congestion being a major issue, besides everything else happening behind the scenes there. FAIL!!!!!!

ehh, I don't know if I agree with that comment. Some may argue that the DL-NW merger has made international travel much easier; combined the new DL route network is just massive and it's never been easier to get to lots of places in Asia that before have been inconvenient for Americans. but I digress -- this is sad for all those who will loose their jobs; sadly, that is the way things often play out in this industry, and I would hope that these individuals knew what was going on and had prepared themselves. It IS ultimately the right decision for DL to cut costs while offering their passengers a more consistent and streamlined product. I think that in the end this will not only benefit Delta's success at CVG, but also CVG passengers as we're THAT much closer to snagging a LCC like AirTran, JetBlue, Allegiant or maybe even Virgin (unlikely, but one can dream). Southwest will NEVER fly to CVG.

I think you guys have somewhat inaccurate view of what type of boutique property would occupy this space, if this does happen. The whole boutique 'concept' has really been snatched up by major hotel chains and each one either has or is in the process of developing their own. These properties usually offer some quirkiness and special design/service characteristics, with the familiarly and accessibility of a national brand. More than likely, it will be a property that is tied to a major chain. Due to the large amount of business travel in this area, this is just what makes sense. Boutique brands such as Hotel Indigo (Holiday Inn), aloft (Starwood/Shearton), EDITION (Marriott) are examples of this. I don't see Kimpton doing any development here until they complete a downtown property first. The Hampton Inn at Vine/MLK will likely be a very successful property. It's the only value-oriented, limited-service hotel within walking distance of UC and the hospitals, the only Hilton family hotel in the area, and Hampton Inns are favorites for their high quality and good bang for the buck. I'm not really sure why anyone would call this the next roach motel...there is a legitimate need for a property like this. Families and business travelers are way more likely to choose a Hampton Inn over a more expensive, less predictable boutique hotel.

ha, if the Bearcats keep it up, they'll have to move our Football games somewhere else too! The WV game tickets for students sold out in like less than an hour this morning, all full price tickets are sold out too and they are currently being scalped for $200+ online by ticket brokers. WTF!!!

USA Today: Cities Turn Off Streetlights to Save Money
Atlanta has been doing this around the airport for awhile now. The roads for a mile around the airport are filled with traffic during the day, but are dead at night expcept for cargo and maintenance vehicles. I think at like 10PM everything gets turned off.

so what does the fact that they STILL have yet to announce any one tenant say about this project? It really bothers me. Slowly rolling out names of tenants would be a fantastic way to build momentum. I often forget this project is even being constructed because quite honestly there is nothing for me to be excited about right now...

I hate to say it, but the demographics of this area don't really permit the feasibility of a a small footprint store. I've been in many of these stores (Frederick's by Depaul/Chicago, the Star Markets in Boston, heck even the old Giant Eagle Russo's store by John Carroll in Shaker Heights!) and they really do cater toward's an upmarket customer. The demographic in Corryville is odd because it consists of a) students from all sorts of income ranges with different spending habits, b) low-income/food stamp individuals, c) health-minded organic shoppers With a smaller store, you need to stock products that yield a higher profit margin because you have less space in which to sell. Shoppers at Corryville Kroger expect a wide variety of generic value brands and .77 loaves of white bread and $1 tubs of store-brand Kool Aid, while there is a market for $7.00 boxes of granola and soy milk too...see where I am going with this?
