  1. can somebody do this ASAP please!? I'm not in Cincinnati again for another few weeks and I did not take down the number, but I definitely want to know what is going on with this site. I would much appreciate it! thanks!
  2. My sister was there the other day and she said that the Clifton store was 1) All women's clothes and 2) Not nearly as good as the Oakley store. Idk if this is true, but if they haven't had their grand opening yet, than I suppose it's too early to tell. They DEFINITELY have men's clothes...I was in there yesterday and can comfirm that. It's quite a bit smaller than the Oakley store, but has many of the same brands. I'm excited about this place.
  3. http://www.shopdenimonline.com/ is their website, but it does not have any info on the Ohio St. store yet....just their Oakley location. Here are some of the brands they carry: 575 Alternative Apparel Brown Label Converse Denimbirds Golden Goose Goldsign Homage J Brand James Cured Ksubi Lofli Morphine Generation Nati Evolvement NFY Notify Rebel Yell Rock & Republic Rogan RVCA True Religion Union
  4. Quick update: DENIM boutique has opened in the former Cold Stone spot next to Urban Outfitters on Ohio St. They have not had their grand opening yet, but just did a soft opening earlier in the week. They carry premium denim from brands like Rock & Republic and True Religion plus cool tee shirts and sweatshirts from Nati Evolution, Morphine Generation, etc. Very cool stuff, I always thought a concept like this would work well there. I hope they can pull it off.
  5. I drove by this site today and there is a 'for sale' sign with the name and number of a commercial real estate company on it. has anything changed with this project??? I was a bit alarmed to see that....
  6. S*it, they might as well...BW is a hot mess and is way underutilized because of the condition it is in As a side note though, UC does still have a number of expansion options on it's own campus before they would need to look about crossing MLK or Clifton (think old auditorium, Calhoun Y building, and the east side of campus along Jefferson where there is quite a bit of empty, underutilized space)
  7. I could not have said it better myself. This project is a CRUCIAL part of not only putting UC ahead, but also moving the entire Uptown area into a smart research/education/arts focused area of Cincinnati. I don't think it's possible for any major university to grow without pains, UC just chose to do their growth aggressively, quickly, and in a state-of-the-art manner...it's paying off more each year, there is just going to be a bit of financial strain to deal with. I believe the big picture is fine though.
  8. contact RTA!
  9. Okay, I can see things a bit better now. It looks like perhaps Sbux will have the street level space, while the bank will occupy the "second floor" or parking deck level. I'm still concerned about how this is going to look with residential right across the street...very awkward, IMO. especially for the homeowners, haha.
  10. I'm not sure what other section to put this in, so here goes... My parents are considering having some minor upgrades done to our kitchen, but my mom does not know where to turn to get the work done in a cheap and efficient manner. Some of the things she wants is a tile backsplash, an under-the-counter microwave retrofitted into our current cabinetry, and new lighting over the island area, as well as painting the entire kitchen as well. Can anyone throw some recommendations out there? btw we live on the east side, near Chagrin Falls.
  11. yes, SF and Boston have them in large numbers. This is particularly needed on some of the uptown routes by UC and the hospitals...I cannot tell you how many times I have had to squeeze on those busses, and not even at rush hour.
  12. can anyone explain the positioning of the location of the Sbux, bank, and IHOP in this rendering. The only thing that I can say for sure is the hotel.
  13. is the Short Vine cinema just an idea or is there land and a developer to actually make this happen soon? The renderings were the first I ever heard of it.... I don't think that street will ever be a big business district unless it is opened back up to WHT. Just not enough traffic flow and busses to make it worth anything...

so in early September I will be moving back down to Cincinnati for school and will definitely need some sort of moving vehicle. I may not actually need a full truck, but definitely a full size van. Can anyone point me in the right direction as where to rent one of these in the CLE area. I can have the parentals drive it back up to Cleveland if it cannot be returned in Cincinnati. I am pretty concerned about how much this may cost with all the mileage too... please let me know!
  15. going back to the Hampton Inn development...I originally did not like the renderings because I was expecting something more like the Hampton Inn Crosstown Center in Boston. While this is a Hampton prototype build, I do like the parking deck and the way the IHOP and Sbux will hide the parking lot from the street. Also, I'm assuming the loading docks for these places will be the on the lower level of the parking deck? What I think is odd is that there will be houses right across the street from this project...weird density change, eh?
  16. I agree. The tenants and foot traffic are there, but it is very tired. The University is growing and cleaning up their act, and Ludlow should follow suit. Could anyone briefly tell me what else (besides the plaza installation) is being done as part of the streetscape project?
  17. This is a crucial time for Greyhound to invest some dough and clean up their act....carriers like BoltBus and MegaBus, who are getting it right and learning from their mistakes, are going to dominate the US market soon if Greyhound does not change itself to appeal to more people.
  18. I could not have said it better myself. These latest renderings are garbage. I wish they could think about long term functionality and not getting things done in the fastest, cheapest way.
  19. wow, things are going to start heating up in the hotel industry downtown....great to see such an influx of news in late. While Hyatt, Millennium, and Hilton could use some major renovation, my guess is Terrace Place is eventually closing? and then the Bartlett Renaissance, Humana SpringHill, and possibly something in Newport will make for some great new additions to this rather stagnant market...
  20. umm. hell yeah! I would be willing to take this bus from Clifton down there just so I could sit out of FS and eat my burrito. and the bus is free for UC students.
  21. okay, can we just talk about how RIDICULOUS this is??? while I agree the 16 year old girl should not have been there, nightclubs are an ADULT establishment, and people should be allowed to dance however they feel, as long as they are not sexually harassing others. People go to clubs to drink, dance, and hook up with other people. It is a sexual environment. Period. I've always thought the Cincinnati market would be a great place to do a full-scale dance club (a la BoMA in Columbus or Metropolis in Cleveland), but things like this make me wonder if it's too conservative a city to handle a place like that...
  22. An acquaintance of mine works for Abercrombie & Fitch home office. When I asked him about the Hollister closing at Newport, all he would say was something along the lines of "in this case it seems as though the store may be relocated to somewhere bigger and better, because Hollister has shown to be a very successful brand in that market" Basically it's another nail in the coffin for Newport. I wonder if A&F is scouting the Banks for retail??? it IS an Ohio company, after all....
  23. Going back to the hotel discussion briefly, I think a hostel in Cleveland would be fantastic...just not in this building and not at UC. It belongs downtown IMO, in a less historically important building. The Tudor Arms has great character for a luxury or midscale hotel, so I think it would be a waste to go the hostel route. This building is going to take some expensive upgrades to bring it up to modern day standards (I think the place still has window unit A/C??) and it besides, it's MASSIVE. Even with hotel rooms, it would still be 100-150+ rooms.
  24. does anyone have an inkling as to weather he will buy a franchise name for this property, or simply revert back to the Tudor Arms Hotel? I also would caution you guys to not think right off the bat that he is going to go upmarket with this place. It could easily go the way of a Hampton Inn, Holiday Inn Express, etc. Those types of mid-level hotels would do fantastic in this area.
  25. Hey Guys. What is my best bet for a nice afternoon on a Lake Erie beach. I'm looking for no more than 1ish hours driving from Cleveland. I was thinking either Mentor Headlands or Huntington, but I definitely want to hear suggestions. My main concern is beach cleanliness, which I have found Edgewater to be lacking, although the views of DT there are awesome!
