Sycamore Township: Kenwood Towne Centre
mcadrenaline replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & Constructionyes, Nordstrom has been committed for quite a bit now. They've had Cincinnati listed as 'opening soon' for months on their website.

South Euclid: Cedar Center
Yep, drove by here earlier this week. Everything is empty, signs are down, and it looks like they are starting to do some minor demo work. The whole property is gated as well. As much as I am sad to see a fixture of my childhood go, it's long overdue. I just hope that tenants (especially Marc's and the awesome Chinese restaurants can relocate nearby) because they were always very, very busy serving people from that area. I can't wait to see how big this piece of property looks when the front plaza is gone. The parking lot in the back is MASSIVE but you would not know it because all the stores are set so close to the road.

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
Have they given any indication of the types of tenants? I have a feeling they will try to directly position this place against Beachwood by bringing in a Neiman Marcus or something

Twinsburg: Twinsburg Fashion Place
I agree. While I am all for Cleveland getting more high end retail, this is NOT the way to do it. I often wonder how the malls will fan out in Cleveland 20 years from now. Randall used to be the cream of the crop, which then shifted to Beachwood, and now perhaps this??? I hope not.

Cincinnati: Downtown: Renaissance Hotel (Bartlett Building Redevlopment)
You are correct and Marriott does not allow its franchisees to only open 1 or 2 properties...they must be committed to extensive growth within Marriott brands to be allowed to take on a Marriott brand. Also, I do believe that Renaissance properties are one of the brands that are often owned/operations by Mariott because they are a much higher scale product vs. SpringHill or Residence Inn.

Downtown Cleveland - Holiday Inn Express and Holiday Inn Select
Stay away from the Holiday Inn Select on Euclid!!! The place is a hot mess right now and their staff is bad news. I hear that they regularly have elevator problems and guests have to use the stairs...even to the top floors!

Cincinnati: Corryville: Hampton Inn & Suites
i'm up in cleveland for the summer, so I have not been able to watch development.... have they started on the hampton inn/ihop/sbux? is there any news on a kroger demolition (can't come soon enough!)

TORONTO (and Buffalo and Cleveland) - Pride 2008, Part III!!

Cincinnati: Downtown: Renaissance Hotel (Bartlett Building Redevlopment)
This project is SO early in the planning stages that he would have absolutely NO way to call that. An opening would still be 3-4 years out probably and no contracts have been signed for the Renaissance flag yet. Moreover, does he know that Marriott is extremely interested in expanding in Cincinnati? Does he know that we have a SpringHill Suites coming to the city a few months away? Also, he obviously does not know much about the lack of luxury hotel brands in Cincinnati. If he works for Marriott all around the country, I seriously doubt he'd know specific numbers and demand in each individual market. Yes, there are some properties that do poorly and there are reasons for this, but there is nothing even close to the Renaissance brand in service, design, price, etc and that is why this could be a draw. Sorry to rant, but I HATE when people who don't know the situation discount things in such a manner. He needs to do some research before he can say shiz like that.

WHAT!? thats a terrible idea! cost cutting move imo.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
so do you guys think they were demolished for the sake of getting rid of a horrible eyesore, or is there any chance of construction starting soon? I know the economy sucks and the housing market is terrible, but it seems like a student area would still be pretty stable in these respects...I mean kids still need somewhere to live, eat, shop etc and UC is only getting bigger each year...

I've been hearing that there is construction going on in/around McMicken and Langsam. Does anyone know what they are doing?

Cleveland: I have clothing and toilities to donate....
what is the best place to offload some lightly used clothing and unopened toiletries? I have a ton of clothes that I want to get rid of...stuff that is lightly used, good brands, but not worth selling on eBay. I also have a ton of unopened toiletries to get rid of. Hotel and promotional samples of soap, deodorant, shampoo, etc. I'd rather not just dump it all in one of those bins in a Giant Eagle parking lot, and would like to take it to a place where I know it will be put to good use. your suggestions please! thanks

Cincinnati: University of Cincinnati News & Info
McMicken looks great from the outside, and yes, the classrooms are now up to date, BUT the public areas are horrendous, and these are some of the most heavily trafficked corridors on campus. The restrooms are just plain scary...i've used gas station bathrooms that are better than McMicken's. and as far as the Y, I really do hope CCM takes it over. It's a really neat building that looks very prestigious and would make a great library. I have friends that use it for other, more herbal purposes though, haha...it's pretty much wide open to access as is Wilson. Does anyone know if they are remodeling the other half of the Teachers building now? The first half that is near completion looks great.

Cincinnati Streetcar / The Connector News
Last Updated: 5:27 pm | Tuesday, June 10, 2008 Cities testify: Streetcars work http://news.enquirer.com/apps/pbcs.dll/article?AID=/20080610/NEWS01/306100123 BY MARGARET A. MCGURK | [email protected] UNIVERSITY HEIGHTS – Experts from Charlotte, Little Rock, Seattle and Portland told an audience of 150 at the University of Cincinnati Tuesday how their cities managed to get streetcars up and running, as Cincinnati aims to do. Cincinnati City Manager Milton Dohoney said the session was meant to educate planners and city residents, and to offer material for his campaign to raise $30 million in corporate and other private sector contributions for the $182 million plan.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
I totally understand where you guys are coming from and agree; however, from a business standpoint it really does not make much sense to do any type of upgrades to a place like that. Kids are still going to come here no matter what as long as they can drink underage for cheap. The place does not need to be nice, so why bother spending that cash, you know?

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
btw, the back entrance to the former Hardee's is wide open as of the morning if anyone feels like some crack-den exploration in the heat....

Cincinnati: Walnut Hills - Humana Center & SpringHill Suites
I agree. I'm holding out hope that maybe the Banks can land one of those two? I hope so, but at this point I'll take it where I can get it.... A SpringHill would be disappointing, yet it does not surprise me I know firsthand many mid-scale/extended stay brands are trying to be aggressive in their growth in Cincinnati

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
is the property listed with somebody like CBRE? I'd like to see this listing. I would think that, taxes aside, this place is profitable. Pretty much Thursday-Sun it's packed and all other times they do steady business. Woody's is pretty much a UC institution and extremely popular with Greeks so I'm assuming if it was ran right (no offensive to owners) it could be around for a long time to come.

Cincinnati: Clifton Heights: U Square @ the Loop
The word on the street is that Uncle Woody's (next to Jimmy John's) was sold and has closed. This would surprise me.... Does anyone have any information on this? I have not been down there this week to check it out since I've been so busy with exams and whatnot.

Cincinnati: Restaurant News & Info
mcadrenaline replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Restaurants, Local Events, & EntertainmentI think the Cin-NKY market is over saturated with Ruby's restaurants. Sure, they are good, but they are all too similar and with so many other choices popping up in the area, I know that I personally like to branch out and try different places from different owners/chefs. Tropicana was just breaking even because he has 2 other places really close. that being said, this sucks major for NOTL. They are probably going to get another family friendly mid-scale chain restaurant. that places needs all the tenants it can get, especially those that are unique, upscale and a draw for people in this area.
