  1. can anyone guess as to when we'll have a good idea about the tenants in the retail portion and the flag of the hotel? I'm really hoping for an ultra-luxury property a la Ritz-Carlton, Fairmont, or Renaissance, but my guess is that it will just be a Doubletree or Holiday Inn or something....
  2. very true, but step 1 is crucial, so at least we can check one thing off. what is the proposed route/stops for the uptown area anyways?
  3. Like berry-flavored blunt wraps??? lol! grape is my favorite! gotta stock up for this weekend! woot!
  4. Do those cricket stores have odd hours?? I know of a few clothing and cell phone stores in places like Price Hill and Short Vine that have been known to do that. I don't know who buys clothing at 2am! Obvious fronts for drugs. Police should pay attention to stuff like that. I could not have said it better myself...although I'd imagine that there would have to be some serious undercover work to take down any of these business. Short Vine is absolutely filled with these places...I think there are at least 2 or 3 cell phone places and maybe 3 "clothing" stores. I can't speak for OTR because I do not know what the situation is down there, but I can say that I seriously hope once the renewal of Short Vine happens with Bogart's expansion and a new Kroger plaza, higher rents will drive these people out. thats really the only solution I can see.

BOOM. DONE. FINISHED! Delta, NWA form No. 1 airline BY ALEXANDER COOLIDGE | [email protected] In a $17.7 billion deal, Delta and Northwest airlines announced tonight that they would join forces to create the world’s largest air carrier. The two companies said the merger is necessary with today’s soaring fuel prices that have forced four competitors to shut down or file bankruptcy in the last two weeks. The new airline will employ roughly 75,000 combined workers, generate an annual $35 billion in revenue and operate nearly 800 aircraft that fly to 390 destinations in 67 countries. Despite some predictions by analysts, the airlines vow not to close any hubs – including Delta’s second-largest at the Cincinnati/Northern Kentucky International Airport. The airlines do expect to wring $1 billion of combined cost savings and additional revenues from the deal. More at http://www.enquirer.com
  6. Nordstrom Rack is extremely hit or miss, but this is a FANTASTIC addition to this area's retail. I think this only adds to Beachwood's appeal as a destination shopping district. I was always wondering what they were finally going to stick in that old Expo spot...there was talk of a Wal-Mart for awhile!!!! HA!
  7. haha that woman crossing the street in shot #5 was one of my history TAs last quarter...how funny.
  8. As in the Next Hotel? :-D http://nexthotelandresidences.com/ is that project back in motion now? that website looks pretty promising
  9. well, Gypsy Cafe sorta fills that genre, but that would be really cool too.
  10. my guess is that Chipotle will scout out another location in this immediate area...this location did great to my understanding ,even with 3 other locations relatively close, due to the large John Carroll student following and just the sheer amount of traffic on Cedar/Warrensville.

Where is the Brooks Bros Outlet store? Is it in Jeffersonville or Washington Court House? Jeffersonville. There is also a Saks outlet at Cincinnati mills that might be worth looking into.
  12. no surprise here....Chrysler/jeep is perhaps the worst auto franchise to hold right now. their products are ridiculously inferior to the competition and buyers frankly aren't interested in the lack of reliability/styling/technology that has become Chrysler/dodge/jeep.
  13. just checked out their website...definitely looks like a great program. I know I've heard the name of this organization before. I definitely plan on sending an email to Linda and/or Robin to see what I can do for them and what they can do for me. thanks for the tip, michael.
  14. hey everyone... so as a University of Cincinnati students I wanted to see if you guys had any ideas on volunteer, community service projects/teams that I could get involved in. I have great faith in many of Cincinnati's urban neighborhoods, and really want to get involved in the gentrification, growth, clean-up, beautification and sustainability of these neighborhoods. I am particularly interested in the Clifton/Uptown/University Hts. area because it is my home and where I spend the vast majority of my time while living in Cincinnati for school. I much appreciate any ideas/input/contacts you can give me. THANKS!
  15. absolutely, this could be phenomenal. I think it's crucial to make this spot into a profitable attraction...someplace where people will come overnight, eat, use the spa, etc. as well as utilizing the shopping, theatres, nightclubs, etc. that the city has.
  16. AGREED! Cincinnati, Clifton especially, has the type of people that would frequent an upscale nightclub with good DJs and a dress code. You can find this in almost every other major city. Cleveland has nearly half a dozen of these types of places, Columbus has even more. I know it has been argued about in other threads...but this is why I sincerely hope OSG is renovated into a nightclub.
  17. I also think that a pool hall would be a much higher draw amongst males...correct me if I'm wrong, but girls always want to dance and socialize when they go out to drink....not sit around for hours and shoot pool. This is why many of the bars such as Mac's are successful...there is something for everything. I know this would probably never happen, especially since the units left are so small, but I also think a place like Corner Alley in Cleveland could work well. If you guys are not familiar with it, it's basically a somewhat upscale bowling alley that, through decor, music, and drinks served, doubles as a chic nightspot and ultra lounge. Also, remember that entertainment orientated businesses like these are supposed to be for the 'entertainment district' further back on Calhoun...across from Old St. George. This whole area just makes me so frustrated. So much potential here...so much foot traffic...and so much available space!!!! ...yet there does not seem to be hardly any new activity.
  18. Not sure about the arcade, but I totally agree on the pool hall. To the best of my knowledge there aren't any poolhalls in the area that aren't dives. Too bad, because an upscale poolhall (like Westminster's used to be) can be a great asset. Catskeller has pool tables and is usually pretty dead on the weekends. Also, I believe several other area bars have pool areas. I think with a smoking ban a dedicated pool facility could be quite risky too...
  19. I agree with you about clothing stores...I could see H&M, Aeropostale, or maybe even Gap doing quite well there. H&M especially as there is no location in Cincinnati yet and their target audience is the fashionable, budget-conscious young adult. I see people around campus wearing their stuff all the time. In regard to food...there are some definite voids that, if filled, could do quite well imo...look at BWW...they are SLAMMED all the time. A donut place (Dunkin' or Krispy Kreme) would be nice. Perhaps an First Watch or some breakfast/diner place in addition to the IHOP that's coming. I even think Skyline could benefit from opening a location here...Ludlow is far enough away that the 2 locations would likely serve different groups of people. I think the ice cream/coffee market is definitely near saturation, especially with another Starbucks location opening soon, but food still has a way to go....
  20. Bar of Modern Art, Columbus, OH is one example that comes to mind. Great article here: http://www.clubsystemsinternational.com/year_archive.html/2007/10/places2.htm their official site: http://www.barofmodernart.com/mn.asp actually, if you look through that Club Systems International site you will find several church to nightclub projects, most notably Sanctuary in Pittsburgh, Church in Denver, and Avalon (now closed, possibly renamed) in NYC. I'm assuming most of these are projects in which the church was entirely sold. OH! and also, in Cincinnati, OH, we have a former church space that was converted into an Urban Outfitters. Google this and you might come up with something.
  21. True Religion has officially opened at Beachwood Place.
  22. 13 bars, carryouts in trouble BY JANE PRENDERGAST | [email protected] Cincinnati’s annual debate over liquor license renewals begins today. City police and prosecutors prepared a list of 13 bars and carry outs against which they plan to present cases for license revocation to the Ohio Department of Liquor Control. 23. are there any plans to renovate the interior of the mall? I was there yesterday, and realized that 1989 wants its food court back. The corridors are pretty shabby too, especially in comparison to other malls of this caliber in OH (Beachwood and Polaris)
  24. woooo! glad to see an update on this one! hopefully towne will stick to the reputation and get this done right! does this mean renderings in the next month?
