  1. After a while all those knife wielding, blood soaked, screaming & crying scenes all look the same so forgive my movie-ola ignorance!
  2. How amazing! I wore the crown for my 40th!!! My friend Ann has a tradition for BIG birthdays -- liquor you up and force the crown upon you. Good thing I quit drinking -- 50 is not too far off!

High End? :? I second that! After much thought -- yeah, I could see that stuff downtown as well or instead. As for the HIHGH END -- well, let's call it "high end on a budget"
  5. Does anyone have a link to this article? thanks!
  6. Agreed that his commentary isn't always balanced, but, IMHO, it takes all ends of the spectrum to bring about change -- the complainers bring the issue forward, the quiet sit by and let the problem happen, and somewhere in the middle are those wo work for change.

    Good luck to you.
  8. Our house is coming along. We are thrilled and look forward to the work on the Power House! When Mommy, when?????
  9. MayDay -- exact address if you will please?! I go to a place in Mentor but as you may know from my other frequent posts I will soon be a West Sider and like you I have hair that is straight (unlike me) EXCEPT for the ridiculous TWO cow licks (you are an over achiever with 4). So, this fellow "hair don't" would like the name and address of the magical sheers. Thank you!

I would love to see a Trader Joe's in SYC. Of course I would also like a Crate and Barrell, Room and Board, Ikea, and, drum role please....... A Marc's. (Don't laugh -- after all the high end stuff I want a girl sometimes just needs some cheap Mop 'n Glo from Marc's)

Clockwise. And don't start this argument -- partner and I had a 3 day offensive over which way the ceiling fan was spinning. You don't want the blood shed.
  12. These are great! We looked at these before choosing Battery Park and really did fall in love with the whole urban feel. Almost a NYC, black and white movie, uptown feel. Very chic! For us the difficulty was in having more than one vehicle and the parking issue. We came within 15 minutes of signing on the dotted line but decided that we needed to think more about it and as a result decided on more of a single family home. Now, once we retire in 10 to 15 years, just like Jason at Halloween -- we'll be back!
  13. Hey BK -- welcome to the neighborhood! Our new house is under construction in Battery Park along West 76th -- one of the new single family homes. Where will your new place be, if you can share? We saw them working on Redstone last night -- looked like they were cleaning and assembling bar stools. Just hope the place isn't too noisy and raucous! Best of luck to your girlfriend and you on the new place! I think BP is going to be a great place to be!
  14. Wow, I just never saw that before! I had seen the Wood Works though. Thanks!
  15. Very dissapointed with City Buddha closing! I do have to say though, lately the stuff they have seems, to me, less unique and more pricey. We purchased some earlier pieces from them a few years ago when they were located across the street from where they are now -- large masks, statues, etc. and have recently noticed that there is a lack of similar items.
  16. I drove south on West 25th last night. Is the place called "Near West Coffee and Tea" new? What is it? Have I simply missed it in the past?
  17. Great photos! We were over there again last night taking pictures. As we drove down W 65 I did notice that the building that is an old bakery on the east side of W 65 as you are heading north from Detroit -- looked like there is some activity going on. There was some debris out on the sidewalk in front of the building -- old boards, etc. Anyone know what is going on in that building? I heard it was going to be a wine bar.
  18. -- Got that. Just asking about any update to the fate of the one on Clifton, which does not occupy a former Tops. Thanks!
  19. I couldn't figure out where else to post this so --- We will soon be moving to the West Side -- Battery Park to be exact. On the East Side I know where every Marc's superstore is, I swear. Half way decent deals on the staples -- read toilet paper and soap --- although not always the cheapest. The junk aisle, now that's where it's at! So, West Siders, where can I get some Charmin to squeeze and some good junk? Thanks!
  20. So,,,,,, about that Giant Eagle????
  21. I've been watching -- progress is slow on whatever it is they are doing with the tunnel. Not sure it is a start of the "official" plan or just a stop gap because the railing was unsafe. Either way, right now it looks like zhit! Last I heard there was an issue with not being able to make the tunnel ADA compliant. Apparently the project contains Federal funds and as such needs to be ADA compliant. But, there may not be enough room so I think they were looking to do the project sans Federal funding somehow. I don't know, I heard this whole story from someone who was told who heard it from someone, who read it somewhere, yada, yada, yada --- so, not sure what is going on. Just sure want to see the tunnel fixed soon. I know how to mix cement, let me at it, condoms be darned! (At least they are playing safe!)
  22. What businesses around Battery Park? Other than the restaurant that is going in where the old Snickers was and the planned businesses for the Powerhouse, I think the closest businesses are near Detroit Ave. On W 76 there is a trucking company and the old Pat Catan's warehouse. The warehouse hopefully will be condos in the next 5 years. Not sure about the trucking company. It is noisy but the building abuts the sidewalk so no room to plant trees. Sorry, I guess I just am not sure what are you referencing. And, if your brother likes the east side, let me shamelessly say we have a house for sale!
  23. So, just wondering, any word on the fate of the Giant Eagle store on Clifton?
  24. Yes!!! We were over there again today taking some photos of our own. We are very excited and looking forward to our move in date. Should be some time first week of November, hopefully sooner rather than later. Ours is the second unit south on W 76 from the lake. Now we just hope the Catans building and the tunnel are right behind in development in the next 5 years.
