I do okay with Cingular (or ATT as it is now). Only bad spot is Dead Mans Curve in the tunnel.
  2. I can't speak for BP but I think the intent is to maximize the land for housing given the views and the easy access to Edgewater. On the south end of the streets of course is the up and coming Detroit Shoreway with all the restaurants. There is a restaurant going in the old Snickers building and if StoneWater goes into the buildiing that is Pat Catan's warehouse along W 76 it is supposed to have some shops on the ground level. We were over there today, can't wait to move! Met some neighbors -- great guys who showed us their place. It is going to be a fantastic neighborhood!

Rob -- photos please! As for my hospitality answer, it is hospitality I am in technically but it is in the health care division of our company so maybe I should vote twice

Human Resources in the hospitality/service industry
  5. I think this fits here -- I noticed that the For Sale sign was taken down from the Oblock building on West 29th Street. It is the building that was being used as a metal foundry/artist studio. It is south of Detroit. Anyone know who purchased it or if it is going be turned into condos or a restaurant? We were looking to purchase and renovate to a house before we chose Battery Park but it was just too double "E" -- Expensive and Extensive.

while I hate to see violence anywhere, I think the justice who dissented has a valid point. If you read the law the anti-gay marriage ammendment "trumps" the domestic violence law. The decision plays to discrimination and prejudice in that it opens up the door for picking and choosing when and if the anti-gay ammendment applies. If that's the case, why is it law at all. It is a flawed law. My only hope is that the decision is a watershed at wearing away at the codified bigotry.
  7. When I'm home/in town it is always the neighborhood, individual restaurants that I go to. When I'm traveling for my job I usually try to find a Panera Bread but sometimes you just have to go to the drive through and grab a burger. Burger in the right hand, blackberry in the left, drive with the knees. Just sampled Ty Fun Bistro at the Taste of Tremont. Can't wait to actually sit down and eat a full meal there! I wish Tremont/Detroit Shoreway/OC had a good Indian restaurant.
  8. Dan B -- you are wonderful! thank you! Much appreciated. We will plan to attend once we move or maybe B4.
  9. Okay, here's a question --- I see a lot of these posts about types of buildings, what goes where, what development. Does the city actually have a plan with a planning and zoning board that is strong or is really about cash?
  10. 1. Bring in development of enterprises/businesses that are sustainable 2. Improve public transit and make it routine for most people 3. Establish renewable energy sources such as wind power 4. Turn Tower City into a viable retail space that people want to go to. When we looked condos downtown it was depressing that such a grand retail space and May Co./Higbees didn't exist downtown.
  11. Vandals? There are vandals? That was NOT in my brochure! :-o But, where would I find information on the existing Block Clubs?
  12. Kitch City is very cool. We stopped in on Sunday and the owner is very nice. He is very excited for the neighborhood. The shop has cards and other "kitch" (you should have seen that one coming). It will be great to support a local business for that sort of stuff. New restaurants are abounding and many of the spaces along the street are close to being rented. I like the idea of the Battery Park neighborhood commitee to try to push to get things like the tunnel done. I also think that with a bunch of people sinking a bunch of $$$$ into that area the city will need to listen. One of BP's most expensive phases -- the townhomes are along the tunnel and I'm hoping Stone Water gets moving soon. That should help. If all else fails I will get out my paint brush and paint the tunnell myself. I see a rainbow motiff.
  13. Map Boy, Thank you! I just need to start getting my bitch list together of names, phone numbers, e-mails, etc. to contact, cajole, and generally nag if the mess that is there now isn't at least cleaned up. As my partner would say, I like "instant coffee" resolutions -- not much in the patience department here!
  14. If the tunnel on W 76 is part of the Lake Front Plan, what does that mean in terms of a projected date for renovation? BP will be starting construction of our new house there soon. The tunnel is undergoing something, just not sure what. Cement barricades, removal of the fence, etc. I think I may need to start a list of who I need to plea with to get moving forward.
  15. Rocco's. Been going there for 20 years. Started when I lived in Mentor for a brief 3 years. Ditto on the afraid of the mohawk.
  16. a few posts back from Map Boy a link for the Detroit Shoreway Development Corporation.
  17. Okay, sorry, but can't get the link to work. Suggestions?
  18. Actually, get my hair cut in Mentor because I have been living in Euclid. Now I have to find a place on the west side, maybe Ohio City. Any suggestions?
  19. I do see the humor but partner and I frequent Unique. Lot's of treasures if you know what to look for!

Fantastic! When it's developed I'm ready to invest!
  21. Is this new construction next to Kings Terrace? North of those buildings? Also, I guess it would be for this thread, but are there any updates on what is the Pat Catan's warehouse building on W 76? I think it is to be developed into condos called Stone Water? Any word? Thanks!
  22. Actually, should have said purchased and will be moving in November.
  23. Yep, did move. Our issues with the city were only part of it but a significant part. We love our house, have put the proverbial blood, sweat and tears into it, renovated, and I know there will be more tears when I pull out of the driveway on the last day. But, I think we are making a good move. For me, since I work in "Brunstucky" it will be closer for work. We are also looking forward to no yard work and being closer to our friends on the west side. Euclid has been my home for most of the last 22 years so I wish it well and hope that lots of good things happen in the future.

22 years at the same company, the last 8 in Human Resources. Great company!
  25. Oui Oui changed names/owners? Is it still the same? What is the menu?
