  1. I was wondering, in the center of the landscaped park type area it looks like there should be a water fountain or sculpture. Anyone know?
  2. Yep, tried Cheddars. Very good! Glad to hear more units are selling! Can't wait to move in. Jim -- I think we saw you the other day. Looking forward to meeting you and all the others in the new neighborhood! Also found out that Tregoning Art Gallery is in on W 78th across from the Pat Catan's building (future called Stonewater Condos -- I believe). The area is looking good. Anyone have any further information on Stonewater? Looking forward to that happening since the building is across the street from our new place. I know that the Catan's building is the building furthest north on W 76. There is another building south of that, attached, across from the Old Snickers. Anyone know if that will eventually become anything else?
  3. Looking very much forward to Stone Mad and the new restaurant in the old Snickers spot. Any other new places along the Detroit Shoreway opening soon? We walked through the tunnel on W 76 today to Edgewater. When does the tunnel undergo renovation? Map Boy -- congratulations!
  4. Thank you to all of you for the congrats! To be honest, all of you and much of the information on this site helped us have confidence in our decision. We vacilated between a few places, each with their own unique qualities but in the end we believe we made the right decision. No word on the breaking ground yet -- best we have is a nice digital shot of the "SOLD" sign on the fence where our unit will be. If all goes according to plan we will be moving in on Halloween. Until then we will be spending time making sure our current home remains market ready 24/7 and hope we sell before the move!
  5. Just curious -- we could not make the meeting due to work travel. Anything to report? BTW -- we did buy, first one sold on the W 76 side.
  6. Thank you for sharing! You took almost the same trip my partner and I took a few years ago. Time in Vegas with his parents, over the Hoover Dam, Phoenix, Scottsdale, Tucson, Mexico, Flagstaff, Grand Canyon, and a great little town called Jerome. Jerome is an old silver mining town that is very artsy and funky perched atop a mountain. Lots of one way streets that dead end in a cliff. Loved it! I have to say that trip is one I would do again.
  7. Call Websters -- we have the New Word of the Year! Turbohoochies!! Excellent assessment of the mega clubs IMHO.
  8. Downtown in the Warehouse District would be great for you if you are into the nightlife. It is a very safe area. The struggle will be if you can take the commute -- 45 minutes one way each day. You could also try the Chagrin/Cedar area near Beachwood Place or Legacy Village. There are some nice apartments there, safe area, lots of shopping and things to do but traffic in and around that area can sometimes be annoying and it would be a commute to some good nightlife in downtown. Best of luck and welcome to Cleveland!

I believe public transportation is pretty good but not so sure about walking at night. It is the city and like any urbabn area there will be some crime. Also, it's not the shortest walk from Little Italy to the Clinic. There are several other threads on here so I suggest you look at those that will also have good info. In fact, I think there is another thread where someone else is going to be working/interning at the Clinic.
  10. Definitely on the east side close -- Bratenahl & Euclid are somewhat underserved but on the other hand Euclid Square Mall sits vacant as does the former K-Mart and now the former Dave's Supermarket (they moved to the former TOPS building). I'm not necessarily a fan of the big box, but I would rather see a big box than a vacant building. Not sure what I would foresee in any of those buildings because I agree that the area is saturated with a lot of retail, but maybe something new. Ikea? West Elm?
  11. This looks like it is going to be a great project. I need to check out the web site but I seem to have missed it in the thread. Anyone have it?
  12. I like mid century modern. Does anyone know if there are any in Cleveland? Seem hard to find. Still house searching and if any are around in Cleveland let me know!

I live in Euclid. Euclid is easy to get around the houses along the lake are great stock -- mixture of cottage style homes, older homes, new construction. The city itself is having some ups and downs. City services are good, Lakeshore Boulevard and north has a nicer stock of homes and parks. Many of the homes are part of "beach clubs" that are sort of like block clubs but they congregate activities around a private park that typically is along the lake at the end of two or three parallel streets. The advantage is the access to the lake. It takes about 15 to 20 minutes to get downtown. Cleveland Heights, University Heights, and Shaker are good neighborhoods typically but in my opinion difficult to get around from/to. I travel to MI a lot on business, what part of MI are you relocating from?
  14. Thanks! I appreciate the update.

Ditto. I know the south side -- so, comparable -- Ohio City, Gordon Square/Shoreway, Warehouse District
  16. Did anyone attend this meeting? Any updates to the information? Thanks!

It's a marketing plan, plain and simple she needs to get over it. It's simply a statement from a customer. Would she object if the box of Tide said "cleanliness is next to Godliness"?

I meant Shaker Square --just forgot my alphabet. Just like I forgot the "historic" before "warehouse district". I will learn some day!

HWD? I have never really looked at SQ because both of us have to drive to work -- publick transporation is not an option. Is it hard to get in and out?

Our corportate headquarters in Maryland is built on a mixed use complex with offices, housing, and shopping. The place has at least 5 roundabouts and a speed limit of 35MPH which means people go 45. Not too many accidents but there are signs that tell which lanes are required to "yield" to the other lanes. In addition, none of those lanes are lanes that come directly form a freeway. I think that is part of the problem -- high speed and then BOOM, here is the roundabout.

You say that we are so evil as if it's a bad thing. Us Taureans take pride in our evilness! :whip:
  22. Didn't I just read something that sociologists predicted we would fail in Iraq because we did not understand the culture. Not sure where I read that, but my point and the point of the article was that we approached Iraq as if our cultures were the same and the expectations of the Iraqi people are the same as ours. They aren't. We did not count on the close familial ties and the "klans" (authors words not mine) that cause a lot of infighting. That being said, the likelihood of completely stopping things like the random car bombs is slim to none. We should be concentrating on infrastructure. I think the ultimate goal of "W" was to establish a military presence in that area. Iraq was an easy target. Too bad he had to lie to do so under the guise of "freeing the Iraqi people". As the bumper stickers say "Clinton lied but no one died".

You did???? Sorry I missed that! Feel free to: :whip: but you may need to get me: :drunk: first before you become:  But really, thanks and forgive my lack of memory!
  24. Dang! I thought I had a "scoop" on the information!
  25. Moving the topic along -- I have been told taht the condos/retirement center known as "A Place for Us" targeted to GLBT community is dead in the water. They are moving to a new location and another developer. Any thoughts? Any other info?
