  1. and maybe some sort of green/low energy use people mover/LRT sort of thing to get to the next expansion wing whenever traveling on one of th crop dusters out of the pasture in the lower 40 (more commonly refered to as the "D Gates".
  2. Agree, agree, agreee. Just so you know I wasn't referring to the strucure (except for the gray paint everywhere), I truly was refering to how clean the place is. I am glad to see the "keep it clean" sort of signs in the place and about 6 months ago I actually saw a cleaning crew moving throughout the place with cleaning carts, brushes, paint, etc. That is a good sign!

Any word on when the residential units will come on line?
  4. I am so glad I found this thread! 8-) For those of you who have seen my posts b4 -- still looking/considering a move from Euclid to OC or Battery Park. This whole Gordon Square thread makes BP look like a no brainer!
  5. All I have to say is that I am glad to see that the place is finally being cleaned up! I agree the service is great but the only other airport I have seen that seems to be more dingy is Philadelphia. Now if they can just find some color other than gray and we'll be all set!
  6. I think this project makes Battery Park and all of the Detroit Shoreway a really good thing!
  7. Living in Cleveland I can say that Toronto is looking better and better each day! Not that I frequent strip clubs, I just object to anyone "stripping away" any freedom of choice. And on a serious note, all this talk about Family Values but Ohio schools for the most part SUCK! How about directing some energy into improving education instead of closing strip clubs? Oh, that's right, a good education might cause people to be able to THINK for THEMSELVES and so we are right back at stripping away personal freedoms. There. I feel better now.
  8. We live in Euclid and have for most the last 21 years. i have always liked Euclid and chose to live here when I relocated from Pittsburgh. I just found this article but it seems to confirm what we have been feeling for a while. The posts about the development are nearly 3 years old. I am not seeing the development. I know things take time but many people, ourselves included, want to live in an area that feels like an upcoming urban, mixed use, diverse type area with walkable stores, places to safely ride a bike, and good public amenities and city services. I'm sorry to say but we are kind of tired of waiting for the comeback. Looking at moving to Ohio City or Detroit Shoreway.
  9. Thanks! That is what we quickly realized about the tax abatement difference. We actually did visit Rockport Square and we did really like the units. The units on Detroit seem slow to sell. The units across the street from the sales office are nice and have a basement so extra space. They don't plan to build more of those models (there are only 5 or 7 of those) and no more units with basements so we were a little disappointed in that. The modern units are okay but don't offer much more space than we currently have. BP it may be but we have an opportunity to renovate a building in OC, just haven't made that commitment yet. We like our house in Euclid but want to go to a neighborhood that might be on the come back, so to speak. Euclid may be going the other way but we have put a lot of sweat equity into the place in the last 7 years so it it tough to move! Thanks again! :-)
  10. So, what is Rockport Square like? We are considering a move from Euclid. We looked at Rockport but then got caught up in possibly Battery Park or a place in Ohio city. Kind of moved Rockport out due to eventual high taxes but not sure about Batter Park either. The place in OC would require lots of renovation and time and of course $$$. Not sure we want to do that! :|
  11. seagulls, pigeons, what's next? Squirrels? (Otherwise known as rats with better hair)
  12. You are right, my bad. :whip:

My real concerns are the development of infrastructure and support for the community. There is a great lakefront that doesn't seem to get used to it's full advantage. I live near the lake and I can tell you that vandalism constantly takes a toll on our beach club property and there has been a house sitting vacant for nearly 2 years, supposedly due to a criminal investigation and subsequent foreclosure. I have always liked living in Euclid but as I stated I think things will get worse before they get better.
  14. Okay, great -- India Garden it is for starters due to locale then will venture out! Now, for great Thai food -- Phnom Penh on West 25th. (thought I would contribute back as a thanks for the Indian food information!)

I agree. I have nothing to indicate that crime has increased. My concern with Euclid is more infrastructure. I see more finger pointing than I do a plan. Every develpment plan seems to be dead in the water and I don't see the downtown area of Euclid staying viable. I appreciate hearing other opinions because moving is not an easy choice to make let alone the actual move.

Or the Easter Ham as the cas may be :-D
  17. Thanks to "MyTwoCents" for pointing me to this thread. Does anyone know what is happening with the Hope VI project as it relates to West 28th and Church and West 28th and Detroit? Is it shelved for now or is it a go? thanks!

I have lived in and out of Euclid for most of the last 21 years and I can tell you that we are actually thinking of moving. The crime does seem to be on the rise but I have not statistics that I can reference. What I can say is that in the 21 years that I have lived here I find myself more and more driving to get ANYTHING! When I moved here there was a lively downtown area that had a Pier One and the mall near the freeway was vibrant. Euclid has a terrific restaurant (Beach Club Pizza) but the rest of the downtown seems to suffering. I think that Euclid probably will go down further and then start to climb but I see the climb not happening until 10 years from now. Not sure I want to wait. Euclid needs a plan for the area similiar to what is happening with the Detroit Shoreway area.
  19. So where is a good Indian food place for dinner? And, where the hell is Tommy's? Sorry -- I'm the new boy. Well, okay, boy would be stretching it a bit. How about I'm the new guy in town? Well that is just so cliche! Okay, so, I'm just new. Considering a move to OC or Shoreway away from Useles. I mean Euclid.
  20. Can anyone give me more information on the status of the Hope VI project? Has it been approved? Where is the final location and when will the project start? Forgive me if the answer is obvious but I don't know the area very well. Thanks!
  21. Thanks for the information. We have looked everywhere -- Gateway District, Warehouse District, Battery Park, Kings Court, etc. We did look at the Oblock building -- you are right about the windows. Could be a cool building but lots of renovation needed. Just not sure it would be a good thing to take on if a finished condo is available next door.
  22. Thanks! I just checked and they said all the single familly residences have basements so I guess the clean up was okay. I understand that something to check for would be air flow in the garage and basement.
  23. New to this post -- does anyone know anything about the Oblock Power building on West 29th Street? It is for sale. Is it something to easily rehab? Supposedly it has a great view from the roof but curious if any of the new construction will eventually block the view?
  24. Thank you! that makes a difference in looking at "amenities" of various properties!
  25. Thanks, MayDay!! Renovation --, oye! Kings Terrace -- little concerned that there is NOT a BP atmosphere and therefore resale value is not so good, competetively. Not that we are looking for a quick sale but you never know about job transfers and such! So, Jim S. how do you like BP? I think the Pat Catan's building is supposed to start in a year. Are there plans to fix up the tunnel to the park?
