  1. Politics or not it is about getting things done.
  2. Just a comment -- trying to follow all of the "this group approved _________" and "further study on __________", and "XXX criticized the design/funding of _______" is all very tiring. Not to sound negative but WHEN will an actual shovel go into the ground already! Frankly, it is almost to the point in my opiinion, where if what it takes is corrupt politicians and payola to get the thing done I say "bring it on!"

Telecommute -- work from home 3 days a week, office for 2. Saves gas.
  4. Had my first Minh Anh experience the other night -- FANTASTIC! Detroit Shoreway, what a great area for restaurantes. The Indian Delight across the street is also great and hope that it continues to do well.
  5. I did and this is just one of the many not so positive things that came up: http://www.medicalcapitalreceivership.com/
  6. Small Constantinos would be great!
  7. So does anyone really know what happens to the stuff in those huge bins throughout the City of Cleveland? How does the stuff get separated? Where does it go to? I would really love to know the answer. If all the stuff ends up in a landfill then why the heII am I wasting energy rinsing cans and bottles and driving the stuff to a bin? That seems to be less "green" than if I put it all in one can that gets picked up weekly.
  8. Yeah, I was thinking about the first time we went there for the weekend buffet. I am not a buffet fan to begin with so when I posted I was thinking comparatively. Agreed, food should always be fresh but sometimes with smaller venues that don't see much traffic you run the risk of "not so good". Not the case here.
  9. Cannot wait! This is finally coming together.
  10. Had dinner at Indian Delight on Detroit last night. Excellent food! It took a while for the food as we were the first to be there when they opened at 5:30 PM so everything was fresh and delicious. The place was clean and service good.
  11. We are not in the pilot program but 4 streets east of us they are. You are absolutely correct, I know I have seen the same truck picking up both. Not sure what happens to the recyclables. We take ours to the dump points all around the city but still not sure what happens after that. I am however in favor of curbside recycling and the fine for those who don't. Philadelphia does the same thing.
  12. Nice! Cannot wait until we have a restaurant in there perhaps!
  13. Is there an update posted on the city web site or something?
  14. I have the perfect spot -- the Powerhouse in the Battery Park development! I actually don't think that would fit to well. That space isn't truly urban, it is more like a club house for the Battery Park Development. Not saying that it couldn't work there, but I think that along Detroit would be a better fit in that location. Now I do think that a healthy Wrap/Smoothie place would work well in the Powerhouse due to how close it is to Edgewater and the coming reconfiguration of the streetscape. I see your point but the Power House is designed to have a good size indoor seating space and a proposed outdoor deck that would look out toward both the city skyline and the lake so not sure a wrap/smoothie place is the answer either.

  16. Ate at RoseAngel on Friday. Food was okay but I liked the La Boca menu better. Not much variety on the RoseAngel menu -- "would you like tacos with your tacos?" The service definitely needs improvement -- it seemed there were 4 women in skirts and heels hosting or asking if everything was okay, about 6 bar backs who seemed to never stop standing around and chatting. Only work they seemed to do was refill the ice bin at the bar. Our waitress was clearly overworked -- she had the entire front section herself with little to no assistance from the heels and the barbacks except to ask if everything was okay or if we wanted more iced tea (which when we said "yes" to the more tea -- well, let's just say we are still waiting). On a Friday night they were out of one type of taco and one of the dessert items. We know the place just opened and we really want to support the neighborhood so we will give it another shot but they really need to make some changes - QUICK!

Tell that to the factory worker who lost his job five years ago but found employment downtown as a parking lot attendant who may lose his job again. Tell that to the single mom working her way through college at a bar in the Warehouse District who may lose her job. Yes, eventually our anger will subside a bit, and from there it's up to us turn things around here, but don't be so callous right now. This one hurts, and it's more than just the on-the-field aspect. Heck it's more than just the economic aspect. One of the greatest athletes in the world, a native, just spurned us on national television. There's no "getting over it." But that's just the point. We cannot pin all that on one player making a decision. I agree it was a huge f*&^ you to Cleveland and in the days that have ensued since the decision I think most see it as just that -- an indecent spectacle at best. I'm not saying "get over it" I am saying "move on". I tihnk the quicker we start to believe in ourselves the better. Believe me, I work in the service industry and I am completely aware of the employment impact things like this can have on sports, entertainment and leisure service jobs and I am empathetic to people who work in my industry who face job loss challenges. I can tell you however that allowing ourselves to feel victimized won't change the future. I respect your opinion and thanks for listening to mine.

Pinning the hopes of the city/region on one sports star isn't fair to any of us, LeBron included. Best of luck to him. Just think -- if as much energy, engagement, and "team spirit" that went into the LeBron campaign could be put into such things as improving our schools, decreasing crime, putting solid leaders in place, and public and private sectors working together for a strategic vision for the city and area -- people, including sports stars, will want to come here. Move on LeBron, move on Cleveland.
  19. We have had mixed experiences. The menu is limited so you would think the food would be perfect all the time. Most of the time it is indeed good. The service is also hit and miss.

There is a place in Battery Park that I believe is listed for $900 a month. It is on Battery Park Blvd. in the complex. You would need to drive by and get the number but I believe it is listed under Howard Hanna? (the green signs). Good area & you can walk to public transportation if that is a need. In case you don't know Battery Park is north of the Gordon Square Arts District in Detroit Shoreway.
  21. Where is Loraine Road? Oh, you mean Lorain Avenue. From a rundown of the 1906 city ordinance to organize the street system: "Section 3. CLASSIFICATION OF THOROUGHFARES. The term "Thoroughfare" means all ways used or opened for public travel, whatever its present designation. All thoroughfares running in a general east and west direction shall be called avenues. All thoroughfares running in a general north and south direction shall be called streets. All diagonal thoroughfares shall be called roads. All short or disconnected thoroughfares running in a general north and south direction shall be called places. All short or disconnected thoroughfares running in a general east and west direction shall be called courts. All curved thoroughfares shall be called drives." Sorry, but I'm a stickler on these designations So out of curiosity -- Clifton Boulevard? Chagrin Boulevard? Oh, I should have read on for that explanation.
  22. Wishful thinking but I see activity there and it seems small changes here and there. We live in BP and drive by frequently.
  23. Is there anything going on with the old laundry building at the corner of Lake and W 76? Lofts?
