  1. 50 MPH = good? Then let's test that out by changing the speed limit on Clifton and Lake to 50 MPH instead of what it is now.
  2. Welcome! Advice -- get involved in the groups at BP and/or the neighborhood block club. Say hello -- you'll find BP to be friendly and a good place to be.
  3. Sorry to see La Boca close. I thought the food was very good. The service was a bit hit and miss but so was the service when it was Cheddars. I suppose we just got used to that service in that spot. I hope Latitude is doing well. Last time I was in there for Sunday breakfast it was pretty crowded and the food was good. I hear Indian Delight in DS is good.
  4. Very cool! I said when the theater opened that the street needed an ice cream & chocolate shop! Damn I'm good!
  5. I lived in PGH and worked downtown several years ago and still visit often. It seems to me that the public transportation is a little better, perhaps that helps.
  6. Any word from anyone on Toast Wine Bar and its status?
  7. Has this opened? When will it open? Any updates? Thanks.
  8. Not in Cleveland but in San Francisco in the Haight Ashbury area we recently visited. Lots of "homeless" on the street asking for $$. I kept thinking that all of these folks looked relatively young. Finally, after about an hour of walking I was given a clue as to why -- see there is a large university near the area. We came upon two "homeless" guys with a cup in hand. They were honest though in their plea -- "Hey buddy, can you spare some change for beer? Pot? Other drugs?" I laughed my a$$ off and gave them a dollar just for being honest. Seems as though feining homelessness is a popular activity for students looking for a buzz. On a serious note for Cleveland though -- I always give $$ to the folks outside of the West Side Market who are collecting for the Grapevine. Presumably this is a way for raising money for the homeless in a legitimate, organized fashion. I assume it is and figure it must help in someway.
  9. I would much prefer to see a small market, rather than another restaurant. IMO, we gots plenty of restaurants, but walkable/bicyclable grocery options are basically Save-A-Lot, StockYard Meats (thanks 'X') and the Vietnamese Grocery next to Minh Ahn + the Sat. Farmer's market. I'm not a big fan of the Arab grocery on Detroit in the West 90's; their produce looks good from the window but the selection is not all that great. So how bouts a market w/ basics and maybe high end wine & beer in the pwrhouse space? i'm guessing that with only 40+ units built-out, there is not enough walk-up demand to justify it. Thoughts?? I think the original plans call for both a small market and a restaurant. I think the market would likely be more contingent upon the BP development filling up more so that there is a critical mass to suppor the market. I also think once the connection to the Shoreway is put in there will be consistent traffic going to and from (a double edged sword for sure) but it would serve to support a market or restaurant in the Power House.
  10. The Welcome definitely still stands!
  11. I would spend a great deal of money making the school system by far the best in the country. I think a lot of the other hopes for the city would follow.
  12. Ditto that! Macy's, Crate & Barrel, and others in Tower City.
  13. Okay, this will probably get bumped but it sort of is part of this thread -- we are taking a trip next week on Amtrak from Cleveland to NYC. It is sort of an experiment to see how the train travel is. We want to do a cross country trip on Amtrak to the west coast some day but want to do a trial run first. Now if I can just figure out how to get to the CLE station and back at odd hours of the morning. Don't want to leave the car parked at the station since the lot is unattended. Doesn't seem that the travel is made easy from CLE!
  14. Idea for the area -- I would like to see Malley's open a small storefront selling ice cream and candy.
  15. k-sonic --- WELCOME! Glad to see more folks moving in. The two new single family homes on Goodwalt are getting finished inside it appears. I think one of them will be the new "model" for sales. I believe the sales office may be moved to the Power House. It would be fantastic to see a restaurant going in. At night when the building is all lit up it looks fantastic. I agree with BK -- the integration with the neighborhood seems to go well. I believe everyone is pulling together for the greater good of the DS neighborhood as a whole.
  16. Still looking for any updates to the status of the tunnel at W 76. Thanks!
  17. MD88PILOT --- respectfully, I do realize that it is an older facility --was Cleveland the first to have a municiple airport?? I thought I read that somewhere in Concourse A. But..., it is dirty in many areas and I'm not talking construction debris. Much better care is necessary. I do like the improvements in the physcial plant that I am seeing.
  18. All sounds good, very resourceful.... but I hope that the follow up in all this will be of quality. Sorry, but that is where I have to offer our city some constructive critique because the simple but noticeable basics often lack. This means simple cleaning, knowledge of their city... and a friendlier attitude amongst airport employees.... (can the puss attitude) better cleaning of such things like...windows, floors, restrooms, etc... Not so sure I like lacing the place with more chains though. Dunkin' Donuts? Please! Reminds me of 'indoor sprawl' Those kinds of places are sure hard to find these days! Not to crack on their items, but I think we can do better...it would be nice to get some local Cleveland exclusives in there like Great Lakes...unique things so that visitors are greeted with what defines Cleveland, makes us unique... and not so much the clone zone. Rock and Roll Store.. That's the idea I am talking about. Start recycling too, already....like so many other airports. I could not agree more -- I travel a lot and I find Hopkins to be one of the dirtiest airports around. And the friendlines? What friendliness? In the past 10 years of flying regularly I have met 2 people who work in the retail area who were great. They worked at the now closed nut counter. One of them did get a job in the new food court. Glad for her but too bad she remains the only one so far I have interacted with.
  19. Here's 301 -- great to see some activity/landscaping at the Powerhouse today!
  20. I agree, La Boca is fantastic!
  21. Anyone have an update to the project, particularly the West 76th Street tunnel renovation? Thanks!
  22. Any updates to this? Also, any update to the tunnel renovation?
  23. Any idea what is happening with the West Shoreway project and when any work will get started? Is it on track? Any stimulus money helping it out?
  24. Yep, we did. We like it and are happy with the move but wish Euclid all the best!
