Cincinnati: Corryville: Vernon Manor Redevelopment
I am SO sad to hear this!! I no longer cover Cincinnati for my job but when I did I ALWAYS stayed at VM. I loved that place, large rooms, good room service, free wonderful breakfast. I loved the historic aspect of the place. Further, we had a training unit in the city and always put our trainees up at the Vernon Manor for the 2 to 3 weeks they were there. Some of the rooms were mini suites with kitchenettes so the trainees really appreciated that aspect. Sad news indeed. I hope it goes condo. The view from the 6th Floor roof top lounge is great.

Time warner cable is too damn expensive
I've heard that UVerse is good but not available in Cleveland. We use the ATT internet with no home phone -- $19 and change a month. Works fine. We mostly use cell phones but for home phone -- Magic Jack -- www.magicjack.com. Sounds like a gimmick but it does work.

Thanks. I want to see the one with the streets as I have no sense of direction so I cannot pinpoint stuff. So glad I have a GPS now -- I no longer need to drive while holding a map upside down to orient myself to "moving in a sotherly direction" just to find my way to Columbus.

Cleveland: 2009 Mayoral Election
I think Matt Zone has done a good job with Ward 17. Perhaps he would consider at some point?

Moving to Cleveland: Detroit Shoreway, Ohio City Ideas
As an FYI -- I know a lot is being done all the way over to at least W 76 and north of Detroit. Renovations and a lot that the Detroit Shoreway Development Corporation is doing with various properties. Also, Battery Park is soon to start another phase.

Moving to Cleveland: Detroit Shoreway, Ohio City Ideas
Thanks, i'll post some pics this week of one of the units that I havnt renovated yet, it's pretty gawd awful. Were getting 600/mo out of the renovated units now which I dont think is bad. In this market in these times theres no way we could sell until we get it fully renovated and occupied. I still have to rebuild the front porches as well, theyre an eyesore at the moment. I live in this neighborhood and drive by that building. Thanks for doing all that you are doing to improve the area!

I like the ones from the shop in the West Side Market -- I think it is called Grandma Freda's? Less expensive and in my opinion, better. Especially the Red Velvet! Main Street Cupcakes They're very good - wide selection of unique flavors, though only a subset on any given day. But I've had both and I prefer A Cookie and a Cupcake. like the ones from the shop in the West Side Market -- I think it is called Grandma Freda's? Less expensive and in my opinion, better. Especially the Red Velvet!

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
So far no bright lights in the house but if it starts flashing that could be different story. At first I thought it was a little tacky but now I'm okay with it. I do want to see some movement on filling the Power House space but so far no tenants. I also want to see some movement on fixing up the old Pat Catan's warehouse on W 76. I thought the developers of Battery Park were looking at it but that may have been rumor.

Is there a map with actual street names listed on it? Thanks!

Latitude is great. We eat there a few times a month for breakfast. Looking forward to whatever opening in the old Krazy Mac's. Not to speak evil of the dead but...., it seemed we always had a problem at Krazy Mac's. Spoiled iced tea, slow service, screwed up orders, and my favorite when a special request was answered with a snide remark from the manager/owner. The VERY BEST thing they had were the desserts. Home made cakes & pies made by a family friend. If anyone knows who this friend is he/she should open up their own bakeshop. I'm sure investors would not be hard to find!

Yes, Villa Zapata is good. The one on W 25 isn't as good as the one on Madison, IMHO.

an upscale grocery store would be great in the old church building on Clifton betwen Clifton and Lake.

Cleveland: Detroit-Shoreway: Battery Park
I too believe the intent is for any housing project to be a part of the larger Detroit Shoreway neighborhood. Once the Detroit streetscape project is completed there will be plenty of restaurants and shops to walk to. If, and that is a big IF at this point, the Stone Water development in the old Pat Catans warehouse at the north end of W 76 (between W 76 and W 78) ever goes through I believe the plans for it are to be mixed use. The renderings for the project show shops in the lower level with loft type condos on the upper floors. Right now there is a CB Richard Ellis sign on the building advertising it as a development opportunity. So, that is why I said "big IF". I would welcome any news anyone has about that project! Also, just lookinf for any old photos of Battery Park when it was a battery factory if anyone has any! Thanks.

I noticed that the windows on the Powerhouse look closer to being ready for the installation of the glass. The roof supports are painted and the inside brick is being cleaned. I am hopeful that the windows and roof are on before winter so that inside work can progress. I think it's going to be a great place!

Peppers is great! We also like the ParkView tavern -- I think it is on Herman north of Detroit in the DS area.
