  1. The outdoor seating is on the north side of the building. Love Momocho and just tried Brothers Lounge this weekend -- terrific!
  2. I grew up on Pittsburgh and I would agree. Still, Pittsburgh has some neighborhoods that also went down hill and are struggling to come back. The difference from what I understand from family who still live there is a more concerted effort and cooperation between neighborhoods and city government. I have lived in Cleveland for 20+ years and I just have not seen that same sense of team.
  3. It's May already but not for long. Any announcement?
  4. for the record, krazy mac's is the new name of snickers/cheddars/fourseasons. and the old smaller store front beside the main part of cheddars er krazy mac's, that used to be cheddars before cheddars became the name of the whole place, is now full of odds and ends with a sign that says rummage sale on the door. complicated. also, thanks to all the bars and restaurants opening, det-shor finally has fewer tax preparers and leather shops than places to eat. a real triumph! About those tax places == not that I ever want to see anyone not have a business opportunity but..., when will the intersection of N 65th and Detroit get something else as "anchors"?
  5. It depends -- if you liked the old Snickers with first owner, then try Latitude. If you liked Snickers with second owner then go to Cheddars/Krazy Mac.
  6. Anything new on the Clifton area projects?
  7. I give -- what are Strada and Saigon?
  8. I for one loved Snickers, but (obviously) haven't been there since last fall. I am sad to see it is no more. It used to take up three storefronts (between the bar and restaurant). Does Crazy Mac now take up all 4 storefronts or did they give up some space? It basically still is Snickers. Same person owned Cheddars and Snickers. Cheddars shared the kitchen AND restrooms with Snickers but you had to walk outside. Since Cheddars had a license to sell liquor/beer/wine the whole restroom situation could no longer legally work. So..., the "Cheddars" store front closed, the two merged menus under the name "Cheddars". That name though seems was taken already. One of the dishes on the menu is the Krazy Mac --- hence the name of the "new" place. The restaurant still takes up about 3 store fronts along the north side of Detroit. The "Cheddars" storefront space actually housed a garage sale yesterday. Not sure what's up with that. If you want to add to the confusion Latitude 41 N across the street is owned by the previous owner of Snickers when it was on West 76. The building on West 76 that was the ORIGINAL Snickers is now open again and called Reddstone. Seems the Snickers name just doesn't go away but the magic of the meal tends to be in question.
  9. Yes, swimsuit weather. "I'll have the house salad and one noodle, light on the cheese please". MayDay -- I agree, with all the competition along DS all the restaurants need to get the customer service thing right or they will be gone. My people don't stand for such nonsense!
  10. This is something Cleveland should consider.
  11. I think you are referring to Crazy Mac? Yeah, the service is always spotty. Not that I want to complain but I think they need to wise up and look at customer service. My partner and I were there once and I wanted a salad and a side of Mac & Cheese. The server said he would check to see if they could do that because they don't normally do sides. I nearly walked out because when the server asked the owner/manager we overheard the owner/manager yelling at the server and saying "No, no, no, we're not going to start that sh!t!" The whole theme of the restaurant is about Mac & Chz and with Luxe Cafe opening across the street I just want to say -- "figure it out, sell the product like it's dollar day at the rummage sale!"
  12. I so totally agree with that! The Science Center is a good family attraction and an aquarium would also be good. I just visited Monterey, CA and the aquarium there seemed to be pretty nice. We didn't have time to tour the whole thing but one thing I did find interesting is the involvement of the aquarium in the local preservationist/sustainable fish/food programs. Tie the aquarium in with the wind power generation idea and get all parties to work together to look at sustainable/environment issues around the lake and I think it can be a good thing for the area.
  13. Just looked at the Tremont Place Lofts web site -- they look great! I didn't realize they would be apartments and not condos.

    Happy Birthday to another Taurus!
  15. Love the W. Okay, I have been away for a while -- did the Breuer Tower get saved? We moved and I lost track of the whole thing.
  16. Is there a clinic office building going on on West 65th street, south of Detroit?
  17. Carole, are you talking about any of the phases of BP still to come? Have there been changes recently?
  18. Does anyone know is the building on W 65 across from the new Rite Aid being renovated to be a Cleveland Clinic building?
  19. Host American Idol or some such show there. Every week the opening shots/credits show the Rock Hall in the background to encourage visitors to Cleveland. Not that I know much about the Rock Hall but can you hold an event there such as a banquet or fund raiser?
  20. I think it is a duplicate of the other buildings. Not sure when they are going to start building the larger town homes at the very end of W 76. Even though the sign is up I don't think any have been sold.
