  1. I just flew Spirit to Fort Lauderdale and returned from Tampa via a layover at Atlanta to Cleveland. Three airplanes, three different styles of seats. The flight from Tampa to Atlanta actually had very comfortable seats. The Atlanta-Cleveland flight was less padded/upholstered. And the FLL-CLE flight was the old Spirit lawnchair seats. We went for a nice walk along the AIA and on the beach that evening and worked out the kinks.
  2. MORPC applied for the same funds for Chicago-Columbus-Pittsburgh for the same purpose (service development plan) as ORDC did for 3C+D and CLE-DET, and as NOACA is doing for Cleveland-Pittsburgh, Cleveland-Buffalo, and Cleveland-Chicago, and as OKI is doing for an upgrade of the Cardinal route to Chicago.
  3. They'll stay at Higbee's if they can't get a better deal than what they have now. They do want to be e a part of somebody's development at ex-nuCLEus.
  4. More like this. We flew Frontier to Cancun. The next day my wife's back went out. She needed a wheelchair just to eat and reach the restaurants in our "all-inclusive" resort. Had to cancel our visit to Chichén Itzá. Ruined the week-long trip.
  5. I think they're downplaying it. Tough to get a good deal when the other party thinks you're "under the gun."
  6. Still too early for anything of substance. And it's overrated to hear such stuff. Most of these early ideas don't pan out. What is significant at this early stage is how Bedrock sees things coming together. Bedrock isn't knocking on doors saying "we've got this great idea for a new building and we'd like to see to see if you want to come along with us in building it." Instead, it appears Bedrock is waiting for developers to come to them -- fortunately, some are. The only place where they're initiating is to secure the public dollars for the infrastructure improvements to make the riverfront developable.
  7. Well, at least that will provide an economic boost to chiropractors in the affected cities. Frontier's seats are the worst....
  8. The downside is that ORDC couldn't give two sh!ts about passenger rail. They have zero interest in it. Having Ohio rejoin the Midwest Interstate Passenger Rail Commission would help, but ORDC is opposed to that as well. The only way we're going to get passenger trains in Ohio is to transfer passenger rail responsibilities such as to ODOT Transit (which funds intercity buses) or the Ohio Department of Development (we subsidize airline service from ODOD after all). Or, an MPO like NOACA is going to have to partner with a neighboring state like Pennsylvania or New York or Michigan whose state DOTs will have to submit the applications written by NOACA... Ohio commission moves one step closer toward expanding passenger rail service The commission applied for the first phase of funding to study what it would take to bring an Amtrak to Ohio. https://www.10tv.com/article/news/local/ohio/ohio-commission-moves-closer-toward-expanding-passenger-rail-service/530-b7d5872d-0277-4bf0-8e13-3acf9eeb8c0e
  9. You don't need a webcam with how often you all take/share photos
  10. Detroit developments are different. Nearly all of those were/are renovations. The Hudson site is the exception. And they may have learned the hard way that they should spread the burden among more than one developer.
  11. Bedrock defers to others on riverfront By Ken Prendergast / March 28, 2023 Bedrock has something that few other investors in downtown Cleveland have — about 35 acres of prime, developable land, mostly along the riverfront below Tower City Center. But unlike many other downtown land owners with hopes for the future, they have no intention of developing anything themselves, be it new buildings or the infrastructure to sustain them. 12. When I spoke to the developer about the Lakewood project, they gave no indication they were abandoning their West 73rd street project.
  13. That's correct. Most legislation has to go through 3 readings before it can be passed. There's a possibility this could be passed after one committee hearing and a second reading.
  14. Don't expect passage today of the $2 million county loan. I'm told it will likely be referred to committee. It could be passed on second reading however in a couple of weeks.
  15. Ohio's decaying democracy is exacerbating corruption and further eroding democracy. Vicious cycle...
  16. And they still don't have the crane up. Remember that this is two buildings with two jurisdictions, one on top of the other using air rights.
  17. Berkadia to expand at Key Tower By Ken Prendergast / March 27, 2023 By the end of this year, commercial loan originator Berkadia Commercial Mortgage will be showing off its greatly expanded offices on the 14th floor of Key Tower, 127 Public Square. And that expansion offers a couple of statements about Greater Cleveland’s economy in general and downtown Cleveland in particular.
