  1. That's funny. I should be living in NYC because that stopping dead in front of me pisses me off too! BTW, super photos! I haven't spent much time in Philly since my sister worked at the Walnut Street Theater back in 88-89. I need to go back.
  2. That's all right anyways.
  3. Haven't heard. I checked the East 4th website, but didn't see any updates since February. There's a cool slideshow on there, though... http://www.east4thstreet.com/neighborhood.php
  4. It's not as nice as other areas of Ohio City, but horrendous/disgusting should be reserved for East 131st at the Cleveland/East Cleveland border, Mt. Carmel, or Storer Avenue (or for that matter, Mayfield Road in Mayfield Heights or Lorain Road through North Olmsted!!). I hear ya. I had just finishing my four-year degree in partying at Kent State (my diploma was a dismissal letter) and starting work on my degree at Myers College, then called Dyke College (for some reason their sweaters didn't sell too well among straight women, especially among the women's basketball team, the Dyke Demons).
  5. The drivers may not have been drunk or high, but what about lack of sleep? One day they'll invent a test for that, I'll bet.
  6. Tell them to scroll the Nortech site or even Monster. Incredible. I should have studied IT when I was in college in the 1980s!

It's already built. See this paragraph:

    Oh yeah?

Welcome! Let me suggest perusing this site: http://www.apartmentratings.com/rate/OH-Cleveland.html But I make that suggestion with the caution that people tend to speak up more when they're unhappy. Take the ratings with a grain of salt.
  10. Shameless bump - to keep this issue in front of people.
  11. Well said, Gildone.

The biodiesel, in this case derived from soybean oil, will be made commercially in the Flats, ensuring a steady supply to local customers. Center Alternative Energy Co., a subsidiary of St. Louis-based Center Oil Co., has built a plant at its sister company's storage terminal on Mahoning Avenue along the Cuyahoga River.

Also, video news segment follows the commercial: http://cosmos.bcst.yahoo.com/up/player/popup/?rn=952695&cl=2449567&src=news http://news.yahoo.com/s/ap/20070420/ap_on_re_us/traffic_congestion_fee;_ylt=AiNOqA8QRJoTI.jYQnmO7kms0NUE By SARA KUGLER, Associated Press Writer Fri Apr 20, 3:22 PM ET NEW YORK - An idea of reducing traffic by charging motorists who drive into the heart of Manhattan got Mayor Michael Bloomberg's support Friday. "Using economics to influence public behavior is something this country is built on — it's called capitalism," Bloomberg said. "Tax policy influences you to drill here and mine there, and grow this and live here and do that." Back in January, the mayor, who also has a home in London, had said the congestion pricing system there did not appear to be working as well as expected. London officials say charging drivers has helped relieve congestion, but the fee — equal to about $16 per trip — has gone up since its implementation in 2003. "I think their experience has been that people adjusted to the charges," Bloomberg said then. When asked about Bloomberg's shift Friday, his spokesman Stu Loeser said the mayor's Office of Long-term Planning and Sustainability has been researching the issue and other ideas. "What's changed is we've been going through months of study; there's been cumulative tens of thousand of hours of work on this," Loeser said. Some states and cities are already experimenting with congestion pricing on major highways, where drivers can choose the free lanes or those that carry a fee. Implementing congestion pricing would have to be done by the state Legislature, and many lawmakers who represent the bedroom communities outside New York City would balk at the idea. "It's up to the Legislature, but I'd fight like heck to make it," Bloomberg said. The idea is unpopular with average New York voters, who said in a poll earlier this year that traffic was a problem but that they don't want more fees. ###
  14. You sure? Who can tell the difference anyway??
  15. Interesting. I've never heard urban sprawl described like that before!

I wonder how big the head of the screw is on the other side of the Earth?
  17. That stinks.
  18. Way to go, ODOT/TRAC. Just keep spending millions on sound walls, not to mention on wider highways that ODOT has to maintain ad infinitum. Meanwhile, gas tax revenues remain flat. Investing in railroad projects requires no ongoing maintenance costs for ODOT. Brilliant!!

State funding comprised $16.3 million of ODOT's Public Transportation budget. The rest is from federal sources.
  20. Personally, I would have loved to see a little bodega go in there. Perhaps the population in the nabe isn't quite there yet to support one.
  21. LOL. I just don't watch TV much at all (aside from Weather Channel, CNN Headline in the a.m. [i'm in love with Robin, who's from NE Ohio], Law & Order reruns, and the occasional Cavs/Indians/Browns game). So I had no idea what 30 Rock is or what the discussion was about. Turns out my sister went to Kent with Jeff. They were both in the Music-and-Speech program together. Small world.
  22. I think I like this view the best... Although this one reminds me a bit of Boston... Yet this one is a pretty cool neighborhood shot... But this is almost European, with St. Iggy's in the foreground... Ah, hell. Where do I sign up!!
  23. Talk about coincidences.... My sister just called me and said there was a neat show on NBC that I would like. Turns out it was the same show, and she has Tivo! So she's making a copy of it for me. They also added this little interactive map on NBC's website... http://www.nbc.com/30_Rock/cleveland_map/
  24. DAMN!! I MISSED IT!!! ANY RERUNS POSSIBLE SOON???
