  1. Nighttown may gain Edwins - cross-posted in the Shaker Square thread
  2. Edwins leaving Shaker Square for ex-Nighttown By Ken Prendergast / October 15, 2024 Shaker Square mainstays Edwins Restaurant and Edwins Too on the other side of the square may not be staying put much longer. In fact, they could be headed for the former Nighttown restaurant location in Cleveland Heights to avoid what Edwins’ owner Brandon Chrostowski says is a worsening safety issue at Cleveland’s Shaker Square. Passed through Columbus this weekend on the way to Cincinnati. That ramp project is pretty huge and hideous.
  4. If Brightline gets its hands on Columbus-Fort Wayne-Chicago, Fort Wayne could be 2 hours flat from The Loop. I think that would make a difference to Fort Wayne investors.
  5. Maybe reactivate the Taylor Road Synagogue for its intended purpose?
  6. Downtown Lakewood project nears final approval By Ken Prendergast / October 14, 2024 To finally repurpose the site of the former Lakewood Hospital, plans for a proposed major development have one more hurdle at the city of Lakewood to clear before crossing the finish line. That last hurdle, City Council, will take up those plans next month. If they’re approved by the end of this year, construction could start by Spring 2025 on the $100-plus million development. 8. Just a PR rewrite Taylor Tudors in Cleveland Hts. get financed By Ken Prendergast / October 13, 2024 The Port of Cleveland board on Friday approved issuing up to $15 million in taxable bonds for financing of the $25.6 million Taylor Tudor Plaza Project, part of the first phase of a larger $150 million mixed use neighborhood revitalization of the Taylor Road neighborhood in Cleveland Heights. 9. The Browns are 51-50-1 since their winless season including playoffs. That's mediocre. Yet they generated $600 million in revenue last year. There are two entities in America that are legally allowed to print money: the US Mint and an NFL franchise.
  10. Clock expires on keeping Browns downtown By Ken Prendergast / October 11, 2024 It seems that the clock has run out on city of Cleveland and Cuyahoga County leaders on keeping the stadium downtown for the Cleveland Browns football team’s home games. NEOtrans has learned that the Browns’ owners, the Haslam Sports Group, are due to make an announcement soon, possibly by the end of this month, that they will put all their efforts into building a new covered stadium in suburban Brook Park. 11. When I worked in North Olmsted in the 1990s and 2000s, there was a Sgt. Pepperoni pizza shop within a short walk of my office. They also had a downtown location in the Arcade. The owners told me that their downtown location was much more profitable and nearly all of their business came from the weekday lunch hour. At least half of that downtown customer base is gone. So is Sgt. Pepperoni's. Office conversions to residential help soften the loss, but they don't replace office workers. Not when offices average 200-300 square feet per employee (and when workers are there every day) and downtown apartments average 1,000 square feet with 1.75 persons per downtown household in 2020. To compensate for the conversion of a downtown office building, each apartment would need to have three to five occupants or demolish the office building for an apartment tower 1.9 to 2.85 times taller than the office building. Neither one is happening. But here's what struck me. I think we would all be overjoyed if Downtown Cleveland was as vibrant as Downtown Vancouver, BC. Yet Downtown Vancouver has slightly less office space as Downtown Cleveland and theirs is priced two times more per square foot than ours. Their downtown bustles not just because they have 60,000 residents in a compact, amenity-laden urban core, but because they are a convention and tourism magnet that drives foot traffic even in a rainy climate. I think there's a lot we can learn from Vancouver. I recently wrote about it here: https://neo-trans.blog/2022/11/10/reactivating-downtown-cleveland/
  12. Ryan passes away unexpectedly By Ken Prendergast / October 10, 2024 As family, friends and business associates gather to remember Erin E. Ryan of Fairview Park at her funeral this weekend, many of them are struggling with the loss of someone so full of life and still too young to have left this earth so soon. Erin passed away Oct. 6 from a suspected heart attack, according to two associates of hers. She was only 59. MORE: https://neo-trans.blog/2024/10/10/ryan-passes-away-unexpectedly/

I have a hard time believing Stefanski would tell Watson not to throw to the decoy on a slant if the decoy was open and the first read was not. Who does that? If they didn't say that (and I believe they didn't), why would Watson accuse them of something so bizarre?? That's bizarre in and of itself. Ability-wise, what has happened to this guy? Is he hallucinating??
  15. Fairview Hospital-North final concept presented By Ken Prendergast / October 10, 2024 After presenting plans for the new North Campus of Fairview Hospital, 18101 Lorain Ave., to Cleveland’s Kamms Corners community, Cleveland Clinic officials and their design team will now submit the project to the city’s design-review process for approval. Proposed timelines for the project were also revealed, showing the Clinic wants to move forward quickly on this major project. 17. Hopkins Airport’s first terminal project takes off By Ken Prendergast / October 9, 2024 If you are heading south from Cleveland Hopkins International Airport on State Route 237, you might be able to catch a brief glimpse of where a nearly $3 billion modernization program for the airport’s terminal is about to begin. But most people probably won’t even notice the building or when the work starts on upgrading its interior. MORE: https://neo-trans.blog/2024/10/09/hopkins-airports-first-terminal-project-takes-off/

Even with our "brilliant" front office now, the Browns are barely above .500 at 50-48-1 since the 0-16 season in 2017. These are the clowns that brought back Hue after 0-16, replaced him with Gregg Williams who went 5-3, and let him go for Fast Food Freddie Kitchens who restored the Browns' losing ways. I don't like everything Stefanski does but he's actually a competent coach and it seems the front office is getting in his way. I wouldn't be surprised if he borrowed Kyle Shanahan's powerpoint presentation to the Haslams before walking out the door.

We're doing it again. I have to think Stefanski would bench Watson if it was his choice. Based on plays like this and the sideline interactions between Stefanski and Watson, it's clear to me that Stefanski is extremely frustrated with Watson. Apparently the front office has not given up on him. If they did, they would be admitting to the worst trade in Cleveland Browns history and one of the worst ever in the NFL. This is just brutal....
