Ferry Cap & Set Screw razed for new development By Ken Prendergast / June 14, 2024 Another big, old vacant factory in Cleveland has been knocked down. But this five-story factory, the former Ferry Cap & Set Screw Co., 2151 Scranton Rd. in Tremont, was recently the subject of a redevelopment plan. Its demolition by the owner/developer and the lack of a submitted plan for the site’s reuse is an intriguing turn of events. The legislation would be killed by the consulting/engineering mafia. We don't pass laws based on common sense and research in the USA. This country passes them based on who gave lawmakers more money. You don't pay - you don't get to play.

Amtrak & Federal: Passenger Rail News
Great news. And yes, this bold text is true that it is federally subsidized. But why does the media always have to refer to it as such? You don't hear them referring to the federally subsidized aviation industry or the federally subsidized highway system? Such a double-standard makes it an easier target for budget slashers.

Yes this project is getting built -- veerrrry slowly. The fact is that this project is mired in politics and it, like all US infrastructure projects, is taking far too long and costing too much money. The engineering/consulting mafia wants it this way so they can make more money. The only hope is for comprehensive campaign finance reform or, in its absence, for more transportation agencies to move the planning and engineering work in-house to reduce costs and to weaken the engineering/consulting mafia.

Cleveland: Downtown: Huntington Bank Field
But what's the county funding source(s)? Sin taxes? Property taxes? Other? If all of these are captured via a TIF and directed to pay off a stadium bond issue over 30 years, it could be a rather significant bond issue. Brook Park will probably also institute an admissions tax and can capture it to pay for police/fire/EMS overtime at stadium events. With the ability to create a legal framework for a TIF plus county and state contributions and TIFs, it doesn't matter if this stadium is in Cleveland or tiny Linndale.

Cleveland Thermal was the target of an acquisition but not to a real estate developer. This Canal Road plant and Cleveland Thermal's Hamilton Avenue plant sold in February to Corix, a national energy provider to downtowns and college campuses. The Canal Road plant sold for just over $2 million while the Hamilton Avenue plant sold for $7.7 million. I missed this sale as did everyone else in local media. But I'd heard a sale was coming last August. I'm going to follow up with them and see what plans they have for the Canal Road plant.... https://neo-trans.blog/2023/08/11/cleveland-thermal-target-of-acquisition/
