  1. Try to keep up on what's going on there.
  2. Update on the Tremont Treehouse Apartments noted in this mostly Ohio City article.....
  3. Ohio City, Tremont developments advance By Ken Prendergast / January 25, 2024 While it’s tough to get financing for larger development projects anywhere these days, it is possible to add a meaningful number of housing units by dividing them up among smaller projects. That’s what Dalad Group of Independence and partner Property Advisors Group (PAG) of Beachwood are doing by pursuing more than 100 apartments on Cleveland’s near-West Side among a mix of new-construction and renovation projects. 4. Trust me, he's safe! But thanks! That's a nice compliment.
  5. I'd like to see a land value tax replace the property tax and use a small portion of it to fund public transportation. BTW, GCRTA sent out this PR this morning. The only thing that's new is the projected end date of construction and the service disruption.... For Immediate Release January 25, 2024 Temporary Red Line Rail Service Track Adjustments for Riders Cleveland, OH – Effective January 30, 2024, Red Line riders will utilize the following track assignments until further notice to reach their destinations from the Tower City Station. Riders boarding the Red Line eastbound, toward Stokes-Windermere station, will board the Red Line on Track 8 (the track that normally services westbound traffic to the Cleveland Hopkins Airport Station). Riders boarding the Red Line westbound, toward Cleveland Hopkins Airport station, will board the Red Line on Track 7 (behind the Tower City Station northern wall, accessed via stairs or elevator on the north end of Tower City). This Red Line boarding and alighting adjustment is due to necessary repair work being performed above Track 13 inside Tower City Station. The contractor anticipates completing this work by mid-March 2024.
  6. BTW, just for fun, I made this graphic to see how much of Toronto's Humber Bay Shores could fit into Cleveland's Lake Shore Power Plant site....

And, as always, there are projects in the works that aren't yet public. Hopefully we'll hear about them soon.
  8. If they were simply repaving Carnegie, I doubt they'd be having a public design meeting.
  9. Lakefront megasite – for housing or distribution hub? By Ken Prendergast / January 24, 2024 A company that acquired a large piece of prime Cleveland lakefront land in December is a bit of an enigma if for no other reason because of its youth. This company, IDA Power LLC, is getting its hands on some very problematic yet high-potential properties around the country. It is engaged in a lengthy process of cleaning up those sites and turning them into productive properties again. But the company’s young life may give some insight into what we might expect here. 10. Bingo. This is a dumb, baseless article. A lakefront multimodal hub needs to get built no matter what happens with Amtrak expansion in the future. An airport station gets built only if there is expansion. To suggest otherwise is faux news.
  11. Silverhills' riverfront development is being built where the Republic/Upson ore and coal dock was. Wouldn't that be a more suitable development site (contaminants-wise) compared to the NRP property where chrome (chromium) was added to the bolts and nuts formed there?
  12. Brightline West now has $5.5 billion in hand. It needs $12 billion total so almost halfway there, and certainly enough to start construction. https://www.railwayage.com/regulatory/brightline-west-lands-2-5b-in-private-activity-bonds/
  13. Especially in an area with two centuries of history, much of which wasn't adequately documented.
  14. Since we don't have a South Collinwood thread. And judging by what's left of the surrounding neighborhood at the link below, I'm not surprised. But someone is trying to make a go of it. A company named SE Properties has submitted building permits to make $60,000 worth of renovations to this six-unit apartment building at 13515 St Clair and do some site improvements. The architect is Ubiquitous Design of Shaker Heights. https://www.google.com/maps/@41.5467265,-81.5883171,3a,75y,320.01h,85.47t/data=!3m6!1e1!3m4!1sCXBdXn9nzHLgP56WWAbjFw!2e0!7i16384!8i8192?entry=ttu
  15. 2% -- which isn't a serious problem for a passenger train. What could be a problem is how the new Eagle Avenue ramp is designed. It could potentially block CVSR and Amtrak trains.
  16. Nice! Can you provide a view looking at the corner of Superior and West 6th from the SW so we can see both the Superior and West 6th facades simultaneously?
  17. I support a domed stadium built away from the lake and connected to big hotels and light-rail.
  18. Twenty-five years ago I ran a website called clevelandmob.com and wrote articles about past and then-present organized crime activities. After those experiences, I am not worried about anyone at or working with Sherwin-Williams.
  19. Being friends with me might get you thrown off the 36th floor of the SHW HQ by certain execs and contractors.
  20. @cfdwarrior Coincidentally, this was posted just yesterday over in the Cleveland Heights thread... Affordable Housing Affordable housing is housing where the monthly mortgage or rent costs less than 30% of the gross household income -- households with very low incomes, the focus of government-subsidized housing. Attainable Housing Attainable housing is nonsubsidized, for-sale housing that is affordable to households with incomes between 80 and 120 percent of the area median income -- aimed at providing housing options for middle-income households who may not qualify for subsidized housing but still face challenges in affording market-rate housing. https://www.canr.msu.edu/news/community-discussions-around-housing-explaining-common-key-terms
  21. Yes, I know the West Park station is actually in Jefferson, but it's in the Kamm's-West Park CDC service area so... West Park GCRTA station housing planned By Ken Prendergast / January 21, 2024 Four days after receiving City Planning Commission approval for one transit-oriented development project, an Indianapolis-based developer will ask to buy land from the Greater Cleveland Regional Transit Authority (GCRTA) for its next proposed apartment building at a west-side train station. This time, Flaherty & Collins Development LLC wants to build at GCRTA’s West Park station, 14510 Lorain Ave. MORE: https://neo-trans.blog/2024/01/21/west-park-gcrta-station-housing-planned/
  22. Here it is. I never throw anything away (digitally, anyway). This is the proposed 1994 hotel expansion...
  23. There are, but I've never seen them open to the public. RTA drivers seem to believe the bathrooms are for them only. I've also never seen the waiting room be unlocked either, including back when Megabus paid RTA for use of the facility as a station stop. BTW, the Greyhound situation has also been discussed more extensively in the Ohio & national intercity bus thread.....
  24. Here's a familiar photo. Thanks @Pleco! Sherwin Williams: ‘didn’t build tall enough' By Ken Prendergast / January 19, 2024 From Sherwin-Williams’ C-Suite executives to construction workers taking their lunch break, more rumblings continue to emerge about what may follow the completion of the global coatings giant’s new headquarters west of Downtown Cleveland’s Public Square. And as time goes on, the rumors about a follow-on headquarters project are getting more detailed. MORE: https://neo-trans.blog/2024/01/19/sherwin-williams-didnt-build-tall-enough/
  25. As of Jan. 1, the CEO is Heidi Petz.
