Rob, I'll second that... I am sooo glad here that I don't work for you, too.
  2. I think the conversation about the construction on the corner of Spring garden and Detroit was originally in the Random Cleveland Development thread which is MIA do to the BRSB* cleaning. There is now a big banner saying that it is going to be a Dunkin Donuts. My carpool mate said the Social Security was suppose to go into the old church next door.
  3.    Strictly based on the fact that they stopped when it was already being demolished.

For those on UO with a World music/Indie pop/Cape Cod fetish the new Vampire Weekend Single "Horchata" is availible as a free download on their website here: www.vampireweekend.com Like most of their music it is a bit dense and takes a few repeated listenings for the luscious melodies and details to pop out.

The national media seems to like the trade too. John Gruden was on Mike and Mike this morning and had nothing but good things about the players we picked up and the draft picks that the Browns got for BE, and the Jets, well the Jets got BE who if he can focus and play well, will give the Jets a reciever who can get seperation from the DBs and force the opposing defense to pull some guys out of the box, which should open up the running game. As Greenie pointed out though that wasn't happening in Cleveland so far.

Regular coffee reheated in the microwave at 9 o'clock at night after sitting out all day has that same flavor. Must be something with the reheating...

He should have been traded before the draft when his value was higher. he was never going to fit with Mangini...and Mangini should have seen that. Straw that broke camel's back. Apparently most of the "unamed player" off the field incidents about the Browns were primarily Braylon...not paying the mini-bar tab, parking in reserved spaces at team facilities, buying $2,500 worth of booze from the liquer store with Dante Stallworth the night before Dante ran that guy over, and asking a DB on another team DURING A GAME what the best way to get into modeling/acting was... Let's clarify the wasn't the $2500 worth of booze at the club?

Is that sarcastic or not. or both? I can't tell. Besides Lebron would have traded him to Jacksonville or some other pit. He wouldn't want to run the chance of BE crossing pathes with crew when he goes to the Knicks or the Nets and punching someone else (this Sarcasm) BTW the PD's Bud Shaw deserves a captain obvious cape for his write up on this situation....
  9. Yeah, I was kind of confused by the fact that it seems on some of the streets up there everywhere you look there is an Italian flag or a picture of Italy, but no Italian resteraunts. Anybody want to pool family recipes and open a heritage Italian place on the DS/GS? It would be a nice addition and nod to the heritage of the area. Although I would insist that the decor would have to match the place in the Godfather where Michael Corleone offs the cop and competeing gangster. Right down to the old fashioned high mounted tank toilets.

A bar fight with Quinn can be arranged (cue AC/DC dirty deeds) , the question is he worth anything in a trade right now? I say keep him, we still need a back up and I haven't written him off yet. I think the pressure of the QB competition was really messing with his pretty little head...
  11. And anybody who knows anything about our history knows that we are actually New Englanders because we were part of Connecticut! I'll take Rustbelt over Heartland. Heartland makes me think of Kansas and Iowa.(Not that there is anything wrong with those states)

Oops there goes Sanchez's completion ratio. BE is good for a couple of drops a game....
  13. And the obligatory smear from a Bostonian who had probably never been to Cleveland. I am fine with the article. Basically I read it that the committee saw Cleveland that was a good place to make inroads, that we as a city were in a position to help.

Not sure how I feel about this one. But my gut reaction is this a good move. Looks like we got a WR and a no name LB plus two draft picks (unconfirmed). Is BQ next? Mangini really is cleaning house. :-D :-D And Joe Thomas better watchout he has the scarlet P for Phil on his forehead too! :-D :-D

I absolutely love the Hold Steady, better late than never though. I have been listening to a ton of Yo La Tengo lately moving backwards through their catalog, though I still don't have the new album. For any other YLT fans out there. NPR cuurent has two concerts for down load, one for SxSW and one from the 930 Club in DC. Both are availible on itunes podcasts or the NPR website. The SxSW setlist is better because they were just playing and not supporting an album.

Depending on the HVAC, insulation and airtightness, the gas budget on a place like that could be 20-40% of the mortage payment. Old houses can be a B!tch to heat! (With new windows, sort of insulated attic and an old boiler my budget is between 20 and 25% of my mortage payment. I am installing a new boiler very soon)
  17. Sort of on topic... I really have only been up in the DS/GS area for the "new" destinations (Luxe, etc.) and to visit firends who live on W66. Are there any historic Italian neighborhood businesses left tucked in the neighborhood off of Detroit that I should be checking out? I love a good redsauce Italian place or Italian Bakery.

Is your condo on one of the middle floor by chance? You could be like on my buddies in college who went the whole winter (Athens winter, not cleveland winter big difference there) without turning his heat on in his middle floor apartment. He sponged off the heat in the units below and above. He said he basically had at least one sweatshirt, if not more and a stocking cap on while he was at home. I know what the gas bill is in my 2400 sqft foursquare, I can't imagine what it is for that house, even with updated HVAC.

http://www.realtor.com/realestateandhomes-detail/13405-Lake-Ave_Lakewood_OH_44107_1109232660 Mayday's dream house in lakewood is listed at $1.5 and it is no where near as large as that house or as impressive. That Pville house is 8k sqft withOUT the 3rd floor suite. WoW!

Seriously that house is under a Million in Painesville? Wow. Personally I am a sucker for the Gold Coast area of Cleveland/Lakewood.
  21. If I had unlimited resources my wish list would include: 1. Move the Port of Cleveland 2.Build out the Flats East Bank and Existing docks based on a Inner Harbor/Fells Point based plan. Inner Harbor starting at CBS and transitioning to more traditional warehouse like structures and row houses. I know that it would be very Crocker Park building new fake Old warehouses on the waterfront. But hey go with what you like. I hav to run to a meeting more later...

I would like to thank Braylon Edwards and whatever LeBron's hangeron's name is for bringing even more negative national media coverage to a team that is already the laughing stock of the NFL. Thank you again Signed CBC
  24. Look into selling the RECs (Renewable Energy Credits) for the kWs it produces, do you have it set up to meter the output? It won't be a ton of money but it will be something on top of your useage savings.
  25. If you're looking for a high quality bike to train, compete, or go long distances on, then I really wouldn't be shopping at Wal Mart for it. If your 40 pund 4 year old needs one, or you just want one to ride up to the store and back, that's a diiferent story. Wal mart really doesn't advertise itself as having the highest quality bikes. Huge swaths of American Society have a purely disposable mindset, and Wal*Mart is their store of choice. I have an image stuck in my head of a visit to Alum Creek Metro Park and seeing families with literally piles of Wal*Mart bikes, all clearly stored outside without any regard for basic maintenance--rusty chains, rotted seats, under-inflated tires, the works. Safety issues aside, the message these kids were receiving from their parents about (not) taking care of things was sad as hell. Well, that sounds like a parental issue, not a WalMart issue. If your kids change the chains on a Wal mart buke, and store them in a garage or shed, I am sure they will last. Long story not worth going into, but we ended up picking up a walmart kids bike for one of my kids but it is the only one of 7 or 8 bikes severly rusting after being stored in my detached garage. The entire rims are covered in rust it is amazing. Has anybody heard the "Original Matress Factory" ad that says, I am too poor to buy cheap. Ain't that the truth. My first (and second) bike was Ross, Made in Allentown PA
