Let me throw Little Bar as a recommendation to start the pub crawl. Best literal hole in the wall in downtown. It's on Frankfort behind Johnny's on W. 6th.

I assume that was from a superior. Spell check is no replacement from reading what you wrote.

Very nice. Everything was very impressive. It took me a second to realize ot was actually at "the Club" and not the ballroom. I was thinking ballroom and couldn't figure out where those pictures were taken. Duh.

Dan, How did the wedding go?
  7. Alright, I think that I am now clean...I may need to go back and clean up the trunacations but all have just Headline/byline, 1st paragraph and link. I wondering about the non-profit angle on the way home on Friday. It's not like anyone is making money from UO, more than likely losing money.
  8. Go to your profile on the left hand side you can choose "view posts' in the menu. I would suggest opening the link to the post that needs editing in a new window that way you won't loose your place...
  9. Mods, I read it and will comply but what is going on? Sincerly, CBC

I read most of it and I am not really for it because it is hugely regressive for everything above the poverty line. I wasn't trying to start a fight either but I am really a water will find it's level kind of guy. Most government spending is spent because that money needs spent, people need and expect a certain level of services. If you lower the Fedral tax burden on everyone, the local and state will make up the shortfall in their local and state taxes. You can't get something for nothing. I saw nothing in the literature saying that will be a tax shift from this. I know that I am mixing arguments but a better tax reform would be closing loopholes and simplifying the current code. Listen the site is well presented and it makes a good argument but i just don't agree.
  11. It saved Southwest Airlines @ss last 2 years. I agree. Don't get me started on Marginal Prices...

    Thanks for the clarification Bushwick!

Nope, the tile should go all the way up the wall. Also I'm not a fan of homes where there is not a four piece (double sinks, Shower, tub and water closet) master suite. At that price point and location, those units should have all the bells and whistles. But that's just me. I am agreeing with MTS in principle but I think at this price point it is reasonable for a builder to do this because a lot of what they did will get ripped out and remodeled because it wasn't custom built to the owner's wishes. Nice places. I wish I was in a place in my life, both financially and family wise, to pick up a unit...

Water is power, as it has been said countless time on UO look at the stories of Cleveland and Columbus. Cleveland gave up the power it had in water rights, Columbus used its water rights to expand.

Perhaps with some sort of light or spotlight beaming upwards on the top of it, a beacon on the hill that could be seen from downtown? Maybe we should shut up and not give him ideas

This is more of a pet peeve of mine that argument for or against any kind of tax change. Articles for tax change always iclude the percent change from todays dollars but never include that really doesn't mean much. The market is effecient at resetting its self. Overall purchasing power (as awarded in the form of an employee's worth in salary) is pretty much set, the amount of dollars may change due to the tax and cost of living (which is now directly related to housing prices) climate in a particular region. My example is that salaries in Texas for roughly the same position as in Ohio, are less due to the lack of a state income tax. Speaking at a Macro level, Yes taxes are lower but so are salaries, so it really is a zero sum game.

That, and some funerals. Although usually I'd rather attend a funeral than a wedding; a funeral recognizes that one person's troubles are over, whereas all too often at a wedding two people's troubles are just beginning. My funeral is going to be big just like in the imitation of life. LOL For those like me who had not seen the imitation of life a summary of the funeral scene. Pretty much what I imagined for you MTS. "As per her last wishes, Annie is given a lavish funeral in a large church, complete with a gospel choir (and a solo by gospel star Mahalia Jackson) and a parade-like procession with a horse-drawn hearse."

Ha Ha. So true. I had no high expectations of what marriage would be like...So far it's no we are definitely not Ward and June Cleaver, however we are not Al and Peg Bundy either.... I wish i could say my wife did the same but she picked a purple (or was it plum :-D ) color dress to go with the Hydrangeas. More so her Bridemaids were all over the place body type wise.
  20. Mmm Rax like Arby's but worse...I remember something about cheese sauce too. I haven't been down there in a few years but there was a Burger Chef building in Newton Falls (Outside of Warren)that remained for several years reborn as a Hardees. Edit: Looking at the website it definately was an 80s Burger Chef.
  21. I for one was married at the Pavillion in the Rose Gardens at Mill Creek Park. Ahhh "Cedar's"...The CBBG's of Y-town...

http://www.nytimes.com/2009/08/31/us/31elder.html?scp=7&sq=immigrant&st=cse Timely article about elderly immigrants and the isolation that language barriers can cause. August 31, 2009 Invisible Immigrants, Old and Left With ‘Nobody to Talk To’ By PATRICIA LEIGH BROWN FREMONT, Calif. — They gather five days a week at a mall called the Hub, sitting on concrete planters and sipping thermoses of chai. These elderly immigrants from India are members of an all-male group called The 100 Years Living Club. They talk about crime in nearby Oakland, the cheapest flights to Delhi and how to deal with recalcitrant daughters-in-law.

At least he will be well dressed. To me when the "Speak English or go home" crowd says that, they mean just that. Speak English only or go home. I guess what I really meant was "Learn English so that you can participate in society or go home". I know a second language it's called Engineer. However since I can barely speak English I think my chances of learning a second language at this point without being stuck in a foreign country are practically zilch.
