KJP you have stated your case against the browns before and it is a very compelling case. We'll keep you posted if they happen to catch lightning in a bottle this year.

Youngstown: a tale of two neighborhoods
Money does go a lot farther in Youngstown than it does in Cleveland. A lot farther. Hence why we decided to get married at Mill Creek park and have the reception right outside of Youngstown rather than in my wife's native Cleveland area. To JRC's questions. As much as I love the Wick Park area, if we are talking about only $400,000 I think that it would be better spent keeping an intact neighborhood such as the Garden District a viable neighborhood in the city. The problem with the Northside is that it was built for well-off people and will need the cash of well off people, probably from outside the city, to see a full rehabilitation. The other thing is the housing stock in the Wick Park is more deserving of a true restoration, which gets expensive fast. While you can probably do more rennovating in the Garden District which will get you more bang for your buck.

Suburban Sprawl News & Discussion
This is not in Ohio, but checkout a friend of friends bike to work commute piece on the local news in baltimore. 20 miles each way. The anchor woman's expression when they cut back to her is priceless. http://wjz.com/local/bike.work.2.751334.html

How do you guys feel about pop culture?
I'm weird, I'm not really into music at all. I haven't been to a concert since high school (and only then because a girl I liked was going to be there), very rarely listen to the radio, and haven't bought music in any form for about a decade. I don't get why people are attracted to music. My father is that way. I've never seen him listen to so much as one piece of music, ever. When I was a kid, when we bought a car, he insisted that they take out whatever car stereo was in there and replace it with an AM radio only. He wasn't going to pay for anything extra. He'll read 3-4 newspapers cover to cover every day, though. As a kid, he'd sit in the kitchen reading a paper, while the rest of us were watching TV. He's started watching a little more TV in his old age, mostly A&E mystery programs. Everyone's different. Thats my dad. He reads the newspaper front to back. And we spend all day reading articles linked on UO...

I don't get why people are attracted to music. Did your parents listen to music when you are kid? It seems that everybody that I know that are disinterested in music either grew up in households where they never heard music or they had major ear problems as a kid. It seems like it is one of those developmental sequence things that if you miss it, your brain just doesn't make the connection. The flipside of that was my friend growing up that was disintrested in discovering any new music, he had 2 or 3 tapes that he listened to constantly and that was it. And this was over a period of more than 5 years. It got old very quickly... :-D

(gags) Yuck. A related question though, how does everybody feel about concrete sided buildings. There are a couple here in Akron where I work that I have to stare at everyday that I think are hideous.

Did you see the one about the homeless crack addict that had been a world class cyclist? Got kicked out of the US program because he got into a fight with Lance Armstrong (who has issues of his own, personality wise. Personally I think he is a prick, but one hell of an athlete). Sad. This kid could of had it all, living the dream even if he didn't strike it rich.

Nothing like Intervention to make you feel good about your self and bad for those poor people. I basically watch TV because my wife watches TV...So a big dose of reality TV. if she is not home at night I will probably only turn the TV on for the Daily Show or the Soup. Ditto what MTS said about 18 and counting. However although they seem a little weird overall they seem to be a nice family that functions pretty well. Now I have watched the Jon and Kate train wreck since it went on the air. As a parent you couldn't help put be fascinated what it would be like to take care of that many kids. They probably would have stayed together with out the the Cameras, she was overbearing and he was a slacker but it seemed to work for them. Somewhere around the second season it went from the cameras documenting their life to a Production. Let's send them and lets have this happen. And that through them out of balance.

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
My friend's posted a facebook status rant on the Indians. Another friend said when did we become the Cleveland Pirates? His Response was: "I actually prefer going to Pirates games, what does that tell you? Yuengling beer and all the free Heinz condiments you want...plus I don't care who wins the game!"

Cleveland Guardians Discussion
(nods in agreement) That is the great thing about baseball. It is an almost everyday sport, there is something to get excited about everyday. Unlike football or even the NBA (especially the NBA playoffs, soooo much waiting) Even on the Tribes off days if the ChiSox or Twins lose and the Tribe gain a half a game in the standings. It is something to get excited about. Of course the flip side of that is this year..

At this point MTS should change his profile comment from "Living Large in Beautiful Shaker Square" to something along the line of "Save you and me some time and just use the GD Search function!"

I went with the diet Mt. Dew less calories, the coffee is that bad. I would have to load it up with so much sugar to make it drinkable.

UO Cleveland Happy Hour discussion
Just joking around, it is a work night anyway. If I really feel like drinking I will drive home park my car, and then park myself on a bar stool at the Beer Engine which is in walking distance of my house. I am looking forward to Happy Hour. Got it cleared with the boss (wife) and everything...

Thaaaank you so much. Crazy they put those great statues up on top of the building where you can barely see them. They look to be holding up pretty well.

Man oh man, look at all of those trees. Excellent pic as usual Rob. Is that scanned from the negative or a slide? It looks way too nice to be from a print.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Hmm. Did they just put up a new sign then? I know that I don't go by there everyday but I just noticed the sign last week. Maybe I just need to pay attention more. I have 3 kids I don't get out much.
