It's Amazing How History Repeats Itself...
OK these numbers illustrate the problem wonderfully, roughly 2/3 of the people arrested were from out of town (implied by non-student) or they were freshman. OU's reputation is destroying the school, people have heard of these wild and crazy parties and feel that they need to prove they are wild and crazy, with no regards for laws or human decency. EDIT:I am by no means advocating against OU's rich tradition of partying, but let's talk about having a little pride in your ability to party. The APD has seen it all so unless you are being a D-bag, or are dumb enough to drink underage in public they will leave you alone. New reports bring total Palmerfest arrests to 74 5/14/2009 1:50:00 AM Email this article • Print this article Dave Hendricks • Web Editor • [email protected] A team of undercover officers arrested 59 people at Palmerfest, including 38 Ohio University students, mostly for underage consumption.... http://www.thepost.ohiou.edu/main.asp?SectionID=1&SubSectionID=1&ArticleID=28392&TM=29791.79

It's Amazing How History Repeats Itself...
No I don't think this history repeating itself, I think we are watching the snowball rolling down the hill, getting larger all the time. It sounds like the sponorship money is really making it worse.

It's Amazing How History Repeats Itself...
H And MC Uncle Dirty ended up working at a Big Boy. Them's the breaks folks. Back to the degenerates at OU. I don't every remember the previous "riots" at OU being so ugly, we left the couch burning and horse punching to OSU fans. Even the "time change" riots in the 90's basically consisted of a lot of people standing around after the bars kicked them out waiting for somebody or the cops to do something. There definately is a not so fine line between letting your 17 YO get plastered at your house and letting your kids see and participate in responsible consumption of alcohol. And save the binges for the weekends that they are visiting grandma :drunk:

Roughly 20,000 kids are at OU.

It's Amazing How History Repeats Itself...
One more thing, 10,000 kids at OU means that probably half of them were from out of town looking to "PART-EEEY", bad news.

It's Amazing How History Repeats Itself...
Ok, first off I am trying to digest this whole thread so excuse me if I babble. One as an OU alumni all I can say is this whole idea of giant fests and especially corporate sponship is just a bad idea. OU has had a history of large springtime fests/blockparties going back to at least the 70's when the University sponsored Springfest(I think that was the name, not a 100%) in the softball fields at the end of mill street. They were big parties and would have national acts performing. Palmerfest started after the University went dry or decided to quit having Springfest. I was at OU in the late 90's and even then Palmerfest was OK for a couple of hours but unless you were friends with somebody who lived on a house on the street, it wasn't much fun. It sounds like the sponorships have upped the amount of booze availible tremendously.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
Sorry I had to vent. Loved the bad pass off the steal that Lebron scooped up with one hand, switched hands in midair for the dunk. I bet that wally is feeling the charge that he took this morning, the poor guy can barely walk on a good day. Really nothing bad to say about the game. Mo had a little rust on his shot at first but he was on fire in the second half.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I about crap my pants when he went into that whole commentary. My ears were burning by the end. The whole bit about how bad it is in Cleveland is just tired and played out, whatever. But the part about the fans filling the Q because it is the only positive thing? Please spare me, fans fill the Q because Cleveland has great fans, (overly)loyal fans and the fans in this town know that we are witnessing something special with LeBron. That's why we fill the Q. It isn't about the Cavs being the only good news in town, it is about wanting to be there to see (hopefully) history in the making.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Wow that woke me up better than my mug of coffee. What utter crap! In case you haven't noticed PD there are a ton of locations that could house soundstages around here (or be vacant land that could be developed) that are not a integral part of a planned civic mall. It's a valid opinion and position but no way should this get get it's own article and headline. This is an after, after, afterthought to the bigger debacle. Well at least I won't waste money on Charmin anymore, I have the PD.

Cleveland: The Residences at 668 Euclid Avenue
The floor plans seem like pretty standard apartment floorplans in adapted buildings. Nice and roomy though. Most apartments like that have partial walls or transom windows in the top couple of feet of the bedroom walls. I know that the ones in the Bridgeview building along W 9th have the windows. My wife would love a windowless bedroom, preferably underground, maybe a cave? She strives to block out any incoming light when she is sleeping, infact she'll complain that the screen on my ipod is too bright once the lights are out.

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Why if these people are so good at what they do Gilbert, Dolan, FCE, etc..are they clammoring for these tax dollars and screaming like this is the only possible project to do downtown. I want everybody to quit whining and swing for the fences, show some imagination instead of fighting over what should be and probably is a done deal. It speaks volumes that MMPI is a succesful company and wants nothing to do with FCE. None of them has ever answered what to do with the current Convention Center if it is not rennovated. It is already a drain on the city. The soundstage is a nice stop gap measure but it is no answer. I tell you what will happen to FCE's parcel it will stay a parking lot and keep generating revenue for them.

Instant classic. Even with the scary plastic head on the King. I did have to see it about 3 times before I figure out what the deal was.

Poll: Do you want kids?
And that is my nightmare....

Poll: Do you want kids?
I'd better want kids because I already have three of them. Three boys 6,4 and 2. We started pretty young I was 24 and Mrs. was 23 when our first son was born, it wasn't how we planned things but we ran with it and everything has worked out so far. We are now debating if we want an even number of kids. In some regards I think that it may actually be easier to have number 4 than number 3 because the older boys will be self sufficient and able to help out. A newborn with a 4 year old and 2 year old was rough. Rock n' roller Size 6 isn't all that big considering I think that all of my kids spent about 2 weeks in newborn and were in size 3 pretty much within the first month. My kids are all going to dwarf me someday....

Prostitution in Cincinnati
I have seen a pimp making his rounds to his girls on a bicycle before, sadly though not a Segway. There is something with endless photoshopping possibility though, The pimp on a Segway.... Edit:Not in Cincy though...

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Are the 10 retailers and 5 shows going to be a problem? I know nothing about the convention business. I figure MMPI shouldn't have a problem with the retailers but would you book a show for facility before it begins construction?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
Interesting tid bits from the contract: 1. Developer is required to submit 3 distinct exterior design options during Conceptual Design Plans and the county will choose one of the exterior options. 2. MMPI will be reimbursed for any pre-development costs over $1.5M, the first $1.5 will be credited towards the funds they are required to pay. 3.1% contingency allocation in budget (seems low) 4. The County is administrating the whole process, the only time the city is mentioned is when they talk about securing building permits. 5.MMPI or the County are responsible for securing Parcels of land for the project. 6.Within 1 year of the contract or 60 prior to construction MMPI needs binding agreements with 10 manufactures for showrooms and 5 organizations to hold shows or conventions with the first 12 months of operation. 7. MMPI to pay $20M 8.County will lease the site for $1 a year 9. MMPI is entitled to all revenues from the operation of the facility except for Naming Rights 10.The County will lease back for monthly payments of $3,333,333.34 or $40M.yr plus a supplemental $6M for the first 3 years , and then a supplemental $5.1M for year 4, which looks like this payment will increase 3% each year after that, subject to meeting benchmarks. 11. MMPI is not responsible for property taxes 12.Historical Tax credits received as proceeds or credits by MMPI are reduced on a dollar for dollar basis from County Payments, if not included in the bond calculations. 13. County has the right and obligation to purchase the facility for $1 at the termination of the lease. 14. MMPI has an option for managing the facility for up to an additional 40 year negotiated term That's it for now I need to do some real work.

Oh good. Light reading for the morning. I am disappointed that it is only 60 pages. The radio made it sound like it was a thick legal documnet. Anything under 100 pages is fluff in the contract world...:) EDIT: My bad, the attachments are not included in the 60 pages.....That is just the body of the agreement.

It seems like it is an easy training race for those planning on running the half or full Marathon. They moved it this year it starts at Edgewater park and runs down lake to the west end of Lakewood. Flat as a board.

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Sounds like I will be making a trip to Dave's. Nice shot from that perspective it makes it look as if Downtown is up on top of a hill. There isn't that much change in elevation between downtown and UC? Is there?
