Go tribe has covered most of this but I can confirm that those walls are made of timbers holding back the soil behind, there is no concrete.

Does College make kids less mature???
It depends if they are running back to get on the college loan teat or if they realize that their combination of degree and experience is pretty unmarketable and that they need a realistic degree to meet their expectations. I keep going through this with my brother he won't apply for a job because he isn't qualified and "doesn't have the experience" but he won't get the experience unless he applies for a job and they like him and hire him. Most entry level jobs are looking for a very base level skills in the field and mostly they want to make sure you can learn on the job and aren't a moron. My brother does currently have a dayjob but he is still looking for a "real job"

Does College make kids less mature???
I understand completely, I graduated in 2001 a year late because of co-ops. It was pretty tough then too. The economy started tanking that spring and then 9/11 happened later that year.A lot of people I knew that had graduated in 2000,who were showered with job offers, ended up laid off a year later. I guess I would have to say I made with 50% skill and 50% dumb luck. There was a point where I was fed up and was accepted at Law school for the next fall, when I had the dumb luck to get a job offer that I couldn't pass up.

Does College make kids less mature???
I pretty much didn't have much post college time at home, two months and then I moved to Columbus without a job and moved in with my girlfriend (now my wife) and we had our first son the following May. You figure it out. It really is amazing what you can accomplish when challenged. My brother is only 6 years younger than me but he seems to be the stereotypical recent grad that Gotribe is talking about. He is currently back home after moving to Colorado twice and has a pretty much worthless degree and he complains that he can't DO anything. He is considering grad school but doesn't seem too serious about it.

Does College make kids less mature???
I think a lot of this was covered in the thread about lowering the drinking age. As far as the highschool kids being more mature, i think it has less to do with maturity and more with comfort level in the work place. Personally i did a ton of internships and co-ops during college so by the time I graduated I had a fully developed work persona. That persona is pretty mild, lots of code words like GoTribe mentioned. I haven't had that experience but I really don't work to closely with the new hires, I am 30 and the second youngest in my dept. I did an internship at GM and that year they had a student co-op/intern summit at COBOL hall in Detroit. We took a bus up from Lordstown with about 20 college kids. So of course being underage we went across the river to Windsor, it did not end pretty. We had people throwing up on sidewalks, girls making out with each other and our bus back was delayed by 2 hours because they couldn't wake somebody up in their hotel room (with everone else sitting on the bus already). Actually I am not sure if this has anything to do with the topic but it sure did bring back memories.

Beachwood: New Eaton Headquarters
ouch. The question is did they use FEB as a bargaining chip with Chagrin Highlands?

Cleveland: Downtown: Convention Center Atrium & Expansion
From the article above."The other site under consideration is Cleveland's current convention center on Lakeside Avenue. Selection committee members said that location has a higher cost and less access to downtown amenities." Isn't that the whole point of putting the new CC at the current site is that it will fill a "hole" in the downtown devlopment tying public square, E. 9th and the warehouse District together? And if the angels above sing their graces down on Cleveland and Stark's project gets build, the Medmart and CC entrance would be a block from that.

Cleveland: Flats East Bank
I tailgated yesterday on the edge of the excavations, that was my first time seeing the construction up close and in person, the scale is pretty spectactular. There were a couple of guys down there working, it looked like they came out to see how sloppy the site was after all of the rain.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
The defensive line did hold up well against Parker and the run. I wouldn't like to see what the score would have been if the steelers could have thrown the ball. Hines Ward and Holmes would eaten our secondary alive. The weather was on our side and we still couldn't come close to pulling it off. And from the Stating the Obvious Dept. They really really need a win against Baltimore next week. Good to here that the city looked good because I was at the game and didn't get to see it on TV, actually if i had stayed home I wouldn't have been able to anyway because our house had no power for most of it.

Cleveland / Lakewood: The Edge Developments
Bah Giant Eagle...Beware the Home Depot cards are not activated for 24 hrs... Back on topic, Have they stopped working on that "beautiful" car wash next to the Aldis? I never go past there during the day, generally nights and weekends, but I thought they would have been finished by now, it doesn't look to be moving along very fast?

Where did you get your political beliefs?
I guess I've picked up my base political views from my family and where I grew up. I have pretty much always vote Dem but there was a period in my early teens where I thought I might be a conservative (Bush vs Dukias). My parents are both college educated who's parents were both union working class (bricklayer and teamster), so we were solidly middleclass growing up. Some military in the family but in no way is it a way of life for either side of my family. My mom is still a pretty hippy-dippy liberal when she get going and I have to remind her that the 60's were 40 years ago. My dad has been pretty successful and he should probably lean GOP for his own financial interest but i think, especially with GWB, that the current GOP are such an insult to his middle class upbringing that he needs to stay a Dem. Currently I would have to say that my political belief system is anti-boomer. They have had their turn (only 16 short years since Bill Clinton was elected ) and I say it is time to move them on out. I am sick of fighting the culture wars of the 1960 over every election cycle. That is what Obama represent to me, a change from the same crap. The man has mad people skills and I feel that he can get the best out of people. He is sharp and will surround himself with knowledge people who will assist him in making the best decision under the circumstance. The thing that really turns me off from the GOP is what I have taken to calling the "culture of non-achievement". Can someone please explain to me why it is wrong to go to the top schools and universities on your own merit? And to be successful on your own not because you earned money the old fashioned way by inheriting it? Isn't that something to strive for? To be as successful as you can be given your skills or opportunity? Isn't that the American dream?

Favorite Columbus Neighborhood (EXCLUDING DOWNTOWN)
I am going with German Village, we lived on the the south side of GV on Jaeger right around the corner from the Thurman. Something about the little brick houses and all of the alleys. I also spent a lot of time in Victorian Village and Grandview and like both of them alot. Has Olde Town East picked up at all in the last 5 or 6 years? My wife and I were poking around looking at houses there before we moved back to Cleveland. I love the conservatory and the park there.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
Let me rant a minute. 1. Apparently our offense is great for the first series only. 2. Wow, did our O-line get handled 3. Did the entire 1st team drink Gatorades new flavor, Stupidity. What was with the penalties? Even Andra Davis taking a swing? WTF? 4. I banish the Brown pants forever... Good things... 1.Phil's long fieldgoal. 2. Quinn looked good 3. Steptoe(SP?) look really good too. 4. It was only preseason, and the Giants were the Superbowl champs.Does anybody if T Coughlin runs a more physical camp hitting wise than RAC? They Browns just looked like they were shocked to get hit that hard.

Where is the best place to get pizza?
My grandpa was from the Briar Hill neighborhood and they would always make the Briar Hill pizza with grated cheese and green peppers cut into rings. They had a Briar Hill festival for a couple of years, I am not sure if they still have it or not. Which pizza place do you get it from in Y-town?

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I hate to admit it but based off of the end of last season I was down on Anderson, but he came into camp looking much more improved than Quinn. Every QB has their weaknesses and strengths. We finally have an offensive coordinator who knows how to tailor the offense to the QB and the rest of the teams strengths. So I am happy with Anderson and if the work in the off season in any indication of his maturity level he will be fine, probably not carrying the team on his shoulders but definitely not dragging this talented team down.

Running / Jogging Thread
Beautiful day for a run, it was about 75 and overcast when I took my run at lunch. Felt like I was really running and not jogging for the first time in a long time. Time is what really keeps me from doing longer runs, if I can't be done in 30 or 40 minutes it doesn't happen with my job and my family (and my charming lakewood four-square restoration)

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I am not too worried about the O-linemen the quality of the first stringers will bring up the play of any replacements, but the D-backs are definately thin and worriesome. On Monday's Grossi podcast he said the Savage told him to expect some trades for D-backs since we would be 22nd in line to pick up anybody on waivers.

You forgot to check in at the hotel then go to the convention center but other than that it fits.
