Great thread, i actually just bottled my second batch of homebrew last night, my wife got me a pretty nice kit for christmas this year. I believe that she picked it up from Homebrew Heaven off the internet. It was pretty pricy but came with everything I would need except for bottles and a pot. I actually was in Rozi's last night to pick up a couple of cases of bottles. It looks like they have everything you would need for homebrewing from the kits to individual ingredients. I agree with boilover, I have done two kits and I itching to try a reciepe next. Has anybody on here had experience using the 5 gal kegs. bottling is a pain....
  2. A recessed storefront patio maybe? Possibly something like they did with the Rosewood Place storefronts. What is a Five Guys Burger? Is it like a Fuddrucker or is straight fastfood like McD's or Rallys. Not to state the obvious but that will be 3 coffee shops within 300 feet of each other (Cariboo,$tarbucks and Phoenix). That's a lot of caffeine...
  3. Sorry for the self-centered tone but all that I was hoping for a properly done development like Rosewood place to attract some new businesses to Lakewood. After the recruiting office moves 2 out of the 4 corners at Summit and Detroit will now be vacant storefronts. Along with the vacant funeral home across the street from Rosewood place. That is what is depressing.
  4. More retail Cannibalism in Lakewood, the Military recruiting center has taken all of the new retail in Rosewood place and will leave a 3 storefront vacancy a block down on Detroit. This after Curves moved from a location in Lakewood too. Man am I ever bummed about that one. I was hoping for a new watering hole or restraunt in that building. Which by the way is fricking beautiful. I know that times are tough and you need to move tenants in if you are the developer, but you couldn't find one new tenant????WTF....At what point does NEO become appealing again, perhaps we need a drought or wildfires or a hurricane to make our region appealing. Flock to Ohio we promise a natural disaster every year! KJP, do you know anything about what happened with Rosewood place? Was it simply bad timing?.
  5. Wow, that is seriously f'd up. I hope that you were not the one that had to explain spending $1.8 M for fake windows...
  6. Just a quick gripe, has anyone else noticed the fake second story facade on that new Target plaza at Great Northern? Who approved that?
  7. Related Lakewood Development, they have started roughing in the storefronts in Rosewood place (studs and elecrical) and from the banner on the side of the building they look to have leases on 4 out of the 6 retail spaces. No more lofts left for sale but it looks like the townhomes are not moving that well, probably related to the whole mortage industry and fiasco.
  8. Or perhaps put a Great Lakes in every terminal :)
  9. good news! yeah for Cleveland.

Dorsey is bright and has experience with Chuds offense from when he played under him at Miami. The reason for keeping him would be that he would be able to tutor Quinn on the offensive package. The downside is he has the arm of a Pop warner 3rd stringer.

I have been listening on the commute home to the Mark "Munch" Bishop show on AM 850 in the run up to Browns season, Munch is a great guy for Cleveland he loves the city and takes every chance to talk up the city. \ Triv makes me vomit in my throat...

As for KJP concerns about the "Shrinking City" model, I think that it may work for Youngstown which hasn't been as much of a victim of exurbs as it has of people outright leaving the area, when compared to Cleveland. The shrinking city plan for Y-town is let's not aim to be a small to medium city but rather let's build on the amenities that we have left from the good (economic) times and focus on being a bedroom community of sorts to the medium cities of Pittsburgh and Cleveland and to a lesser extent Akron. I believe that Cleveland needs to be leveraging it's assets on a national level to grow. I guess that we really should be marketing the city as 80% of the value of the big markets (Chicago, Boston, Etc) at about 40% of the cost of living.

I was having a discussion about Bernie's broadcast ability this weekend. We figured it was a combination of too many sacks/concussions, the Youngstown accent and vocabulary and then any other mood altering chemical.
  14. I am biased but I am going with OU, the campus combined with uptown Athens and the hills can't be beat. The only downside are the South green buildings for the 70's that don't quite fit.

This just in Ryan Tucker has a 4 game suspension for violating the NFLs Steriod Policy... Browns season has officially begun. Next up Brady Quinn will tear all of the tendons in his throwing hand in a freak accident while finally signing his contract...

This was fun once it worked, I got 84 out of 100, for my neighborhood in lakewood. Funny thing is that it missed a ton of bars and restaurants right by me. Although counting the comic book store as a "bookstore" is a bit sketchy.... Even better was that I beat out my friend who lives in an uber-urban neighborhood north of Fells Point in Baltimore....
  17. Mapboy, there were two Arhaus stores at one point(I am not sure if they are both still open) the regular retail store in the flats by the Watermark and the outlet store which was on w. 3rd down in the valley between the bridges. However I did a google and it shows that the outlet is now on Lorain Rd.
  18. "Simply put, if you people in Gates Mills and Pepper Pike and Beachwood and Westlake and Bay Village want to turn your back on the problem, then figure out how you are going to maintain good school systems and get a good price for your house. "You are not. You will get caught in the same decline that is overtaking Cleveland now." Amen to that....

I stopped there on my way home yesterday for the first time to pick a few things from Target. My first impression of it was "Eh" at the best. The view going down the hill into SYC of the mills is great but once you are down there it is just another shopping center because you can't see anything over the buildings. Overall it is good for the city if it just gets rid of the "you have to drive to the exurbs to get anything mentality" excuse against living in the city or inner rings. Now if we can get rid of the desire for white vinyl fence in backyards...
  20. It's my second post here, so please be gentle...I am not a planner but my friends are planners so I just kind of picked up an interest in it. And I live in Lakewood, right around the corner from Rosewood place and I must say that has turned out wonderful, the renovations on the existing building worked great with the new construction. Does anybody know if there tenants lined up to move into the groundfloor retail?
