The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
Oh she'll use the hell out of it once she gets CS5.5 for it. I am not worried about that. I just don't understand how you can not want to play with a shiny new toy. She did that with one of the original ipod touches that I had won at a conference. That was before that App store and it was only 16GB. I had an almost full 60GB ipod, so it really wasn't much use to me at the time. So I gave it to her, and it sat there. Once the apps were available I took it back, hehe. I am actually looking forward to it because I am obligated to play tech support on our home PC right now. I know nothing about macs.

Bizarre. My wife's MacBook pro arrived last Friday. She opened the box, put it back and has yet to turn it on. She's been begging for her own computer for years.

The "Apple Macintosh" Discussion Thread
Just bought the wife a discountinued fully loaded 17" MacBookPro on MacMall. It's not bleeding edge but it should suit her Graphic design needs fine for a few years. This is by far the most expensive computer I have ever bought. And it was $700 off... Still in shock. I may have to go and spend a grand on ski equipment to make me feel better...

Ha Ha, WFNY has an article speculating that Weeden called the long bomb to Benjamin himself because the headset wasn't working after it was knocked off on the previous play. I love Benjamin's speed for matchup plays like that TD, it's a no brainer. http://www.waitingfornextyear.com/2012/12/did-brandon-weeden-call-the-69-yard-td-pass-to-travis-benjamin-himself/#more-76296

Who's been going to the games? How much Of the problem is the receivers not getting separation and/or getting knocked off their routes. It's hard to tell on TV how much is Weeden being timid and how much is on the receiving corps?

^ One additional note, I believe that the Redskins were also getting more fired up as the game went on see the shellacking that the Giants were taking in Atlanta.

R.I.P.: Robert Pence
I've been busy all weekend and just saw this saddening news now. I never had the chance to meet him personally, but I will miss him here on UO. He was a great photographer and an awesome story teller. Goodbye, Mr. Pence

Really? I guess I can see how if you just read the lyrics that you might be able to get to this view point. But every version of this song that I have ever heard is playful and coy banter. It really doesn't need to be "fixed". My personal favorite version is a live version that was on a CD that I bought in high school by Louis Armstrong and Velma Middleton. They lay it on pretty thick and that was the first time I realized what the song was about getting lucky. http://www.theatlantic.com/sexes/archive/2012/12/how-to-redeem-baby-its-cold-outside-fix-the-lyrics/266117/ How to Redeem 'Baby, It's Cold Outside': Fix the Lyrics By Eleanor Barkhorn & Ashley Fetters inShare4 Dec 11 2012, 9:29 AM ET Two Atlantic staffers dissect the song's creepy factor. banner_baby its cold outside.jpg Blaine and Kurt on 'Glee' (Fox); Frank Loesser and his wife and musical collaborator Lynn, who performed the song at their housewarming party (AP / Anthony Camerano); She & Him (Merge Records) Earlier this week, Stephen Deusner at Salon wrote an article pointing out a troubling truth about the beloved holiday carol "Baby, It's Cold Outside": If you listen to the words, it sounds like the song is describing the run-up to a sexual assault. As Deusner writes: A woman has stopped by to visit a man, and he connives to keep her from leaving. "My answer is no," she states, but he pours on the charm: "It's up to your knees out there." His seductions become increasingly smarmy ("What's the sense of hurting my pride?") and eventually sinister. At one point she exclaims, "Say, what's in this drink?" Is he being generous with the alcohol, or has he slipped her something stronger? At this point, the Wolf and Mouse designations are redundant. It's all too clear that he's a predator and she's prey. Here, we discuss whether this song can be saved.... Read more at: http://www.theatlantic.com/sexes/archive/2012/12/how-to-redeem-baby-its-cold-outside-fix-the-lyrics/266117/

US Economy: News & Discussion
^^ Going back to the graphs about the number of worker. I think that you are thinking about this wrong. There is really nothing too shocking in what this showing. The leading edge of the boomers has just started reaching retirement age, so that 55-69 segment of the work force is just going to increase in numbers until the people born in the peak years of the baby boom start to finally retire. And as far as the 25-24 segment graph, yes we lost a lot of jobs but the population distribution behind the boomers who left this demographic during this time period is pretty flat, ie the number of people of turning 55 in a year equals the number turning 25.
