I can't say that I have ever had a Four Loko, I do know that I get mighty productive after a few red bulls and vodka. PS I have always thought John Mayer blows. He's never held an appeal to me.

I try to rip all of my stuff at a min of 256 k (whatever that is worth). I can't stand to listen to music on XM/sirius I totally notice the loses from the compression. After thinking about, I am probably going to chock it up to a shoddy analog to digital conversion because I was listening to the re-release of Sublime's 40 oz and a Clark's (from Pittsburgh) CD; both which are from around 1995. Both records were made on a shoe string budget by indie bands ( at the time they were made) but the major label release of 40 oz sounds fine while the Clarks CD sounds tinny. I think my sister has a copy of the original indie release of 40oz. It would be interesting to do a side by side comparison.

Totally another tangent from pizza places.... For whatever reason I decided to throw one of my old CD binders in my car and I have been listening to my old CDs. I realize that a lot of them, particularly the smaller local and indie bands from the early 90s really sound tinny. I was just curious if anybody on here has a background in audio and tell me if it was just bad (cheap) production or if it was shoddy analog to digital mastering when the CDs were mastered. I know that audio mixing has gotten "louder" over the last 20 years and I do listen to a lot of compressed music on my ipod/computer so that maybe effecting my perception too. But it seems to be tinny sounding as opposed to sort of the "thin" sound from DIY punk and indie, almost as if the mids are under represented.

Slate article: Why Don't Conservative Cities Walk?
^ Agreed on the use of "liberal" and "Conservative". I think that the author is suggesting that the "Conservatives" aren't getting a chance or choose not to get along with diverse neighbors. Not that they don't get along with diverse neighbors. Once again, though broad brush strokes.

Slate article: Why Don't Conservative Cities Walk?
Let's keep it civil, kids. In the end it appears age of the cities has the most to due with it. An most of the large new (auto-centric) growth has happened in the Bible Belt and Sun Belt cities which are conservative areas of the country. While a large portion the growth in the old industrial cities and cities along the coasts has come from infill into old parts of the city proper which were already set up for walking, and tended to already be liberal.

^^^David did you grow up on Donatos btw? I can see it being better than Dominos but the best? Not really. Can we all agree that Hungry Howies is putrid. It reminds me of Chuck E Cheese pizza.

Pizza snob. I've been eating Domino's fairly regularly, it edible in my opinion. I'd prefer to get Danny Boys or Angelos but when I can get two larges for 12 bucks ( got to love those athletic booster cards)that my 3 kids inhale in about 7 minutes, as opposed to spending $30 at a good joint. Dominos wins out. My wife and I order the good stuff for ourselves after they go to bed. BTW, has anybody else up in NEO tried guys pizza? The pizza is OK, but the fried mozzarella is the bomb..

Youngstown - A tale of two steel mills
AWESOME (as usual) I love when you do these Youngstown pieces. Both my parents are from Girard, so Y-town is My-town. Although I am a sellout moving to Cleveland-land, but that is where my wife is from and where the job was.

Marcellus / Utica Natural Gas & Fracking
^^ Boreas, you are on the right track, I don't know if we will embrace the concept of it as a society but it does make sense. Municipal utilities and co-ops are in the best position to do it. They could probably use electric fleet vehicles and sell heat, too, at least commercially. The for profit utilities are hampered by market rules designed to keep competition fair that prohibits sharing of information. I know from my experience in the Electric utilities they used to call the pre- deregulated optimization of the whole power system, Integrated Planning, which was planning the system from Generation to Transmission lines to Distribution in homes and businesses. That term is a big no-no now. It's market principles driven at least in Ohio now. When every portion of the process operates independently it makes it hard to optimize the whole process.

I am not sure if this updates with the webcam, here is the link for the current picture of the crane jumping, based on the html, I think it should still be good after they update the webcam: http://www.earthcam.net/external/image.php?t=bd773e6ae6fb882cf46261b64f6c5aa0&m=4094.jpg Edit: Aw crap, the picture number doesn't index, looks like they just keep over writing the same file. I have the one I posted that from saved locally, but I don't think I can post it due to copyrights. Somebody get out there and snap a picture!

Just drove by the tower on the shoreway, they are bumping up the height of the crane. They had a section of the tower structure hanging from the boom. Sorry, no time to stop and snap a pic.

Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Why do we have to be ripping on the Diamond??? I just hope the food is better than Hooters...Barf! Although I probably won't ever end in there. Not with Nick's Sports Corner right down the street. Lakewood related restaurant news, sign in the renovated building across from MELT, on the corner of Detroit and Warren has a coming soon sign for a "Ed and Eddies" and something about Burgers and Bourbon. Anybody know anything about this? Also I grabbed a late night takeout sandwich fromthe Lakewood MELT on Saturday night and Matt Fish was up at the counter in his cook's gear telling the counter guy what to do for closing, so it looks like he was working the kitchen on Saturday night. I take that as a good sign that he has take some of the rumblings (mostly on FB) that quality has declined with the expansion, to heart. My "Dude Abides" was definately better than then the last one I had.

Speaking of D-league, it looks like they have found a solid bench player in Lester Hudson. I am judging this off of what I have read, I still haven't seen him play.
