  1. Good news. What does 223 Apartments translate into for addition downtown population? Assuming it will be a net gain? T, he article said that it's 135 one-bedroom apartments and 88 two-bedroom units. So does 300 people sound right?
  2. http://www.fireduptacotruck.com/ New food truck on the scene. These guys had their truck parked in the middle of Lakewood last night and were handing out flyers. They weren't cooking anything yet. Very enthusiastic. The kitchen in the truck looked very well done. The graphics on the truck look a little hokey on the website but much better in person.

I was cool with this weather until I realized I couldn't see my dog because the grass in the backyard was so high. I mean it's March, I don't wanna mow...

    Peyton Manning goes to Denver..
  6. Regarding Kaisich's tax proposal, isn't that basically what Alaska does? And isn't that why when oil boomed the first time the residents were actually getting checks from the proceeds? I am basing this off of memory of the 2008 election, so I might be wrong. And believe me I know that there is no way Ohio residents could ever directly get checks based on our huge overall population and expenses vs Alaska.
  7. Awesome weekend in the tournament. First I got to watch OU win on Friday night then immediately watch Duke lose to Leheigh. Sweet. Stayed up late watching the end of the UC vs FSU game and was late to work today. Oh well. I'd love ringside, I mean courtside seats to a XU vs UC rematch. After watching the OU vs SFU and Lehigh vs XU games, switching to the FSU vs UC was like turning on an NBA game. Those guys are huge. Hey Mayday can we get an Urban Ohio basketball logo for this week?
  8. Go Bobcats. I am still in a state of shock an hour later.

    ^^Wait, your office window opens?
  10. Damn, we get the 7:40 PM time slot for our game. Primetime. There are going to be a lot of confused beer drinkers at BW3s around the country tonight."wait? Why is Ohio State wearing green?" Let's go Bobcats!
  11. Glad to hear that Phase II is still definitely in the works.

I can understand all of the moves individually, but collectively they have me scratching my head. If this was year one of a regime I could understand it. But year 3? And to the above mention question, what are they going to spend this money on?

They didn't even make Hillis an offer. He signed a $3 M one year deal as an insurance policy in KC. We have 3 Offensive linemen. As of right now that is our most pressing need.

As much as I like Fitzgerald I hope he waits another term to run..finish your work in Cuyahoga County.
  15. Thanks AJ, I might have to try it. I'll google map it from my office.
  16. SHS, the reason that guns are being talked about too is that the formula for this tragedy was a unstable teen who didn't get the help he needed plus (assumed) easy access to a gun equaled 3 dead teens and countless other lives changed forever. Take one of those out of the equation and this never happens. Sure if the kid had been helped by somebody or had a better family or even if he had a good friend who talked him out of it, it would have never happened. And if he had only been able to get knife, maybe only the new boyfriend would have gotten stabbed all things being equal.
  17. Nice little write up about the 50,000T Press at Alcoa's Cleveland plant. The giant tent you can see off of the Jennings was set up for the rebuild and now is a storage area from what I hear. Iron Giant One of America’s great machines comes back to life. By Tim Heffernan Approaching Alcoa’s 50,000-ton forging press feels a bit like approaching an alp: it starts out incomprehensibly huge and keeps getting incomprehensibly huger. From a distance, the thing dominates the horizon of the hangar-like Cleveland Works facility; as you get nearer, catching glimpses through forests of girders and around cliffs of firebrick, it begins to dominate the air above. But even as you stand at its foot, being told that the eight steel bolts anchoring it are 40 inches thick, calculating in your head that that makes them 10 feet around—even then it’s still a bit out of reach. Only when you climb it, peer down from its sixth-floor summit, and realize that the puny machine next to it is, in fact, its 35,000-ton brother—well, then you finally appreciate the size of the thing. It’s big. The Fifty, as it’s known in company shorthand, broke down three years ago, and there was talk of retiring it for good. Instead, it was overhauled and is scheduled to resume service early this year. One of the great machines of American industry has been reborn. 18. Ugh, listening to "Water Wars" on 90.3. The mayor of Westlake is in for a rude awaking regarding utility precedent regarding stranded costs and making other parties whole when a wholesale customer leaves a large system.
  19. Great shots. Thanks.

Well the state only runs Edgewater, the city still owns it so its not impossible.
  21. Does anybody know what project that Great Lakes Towing is working on that they needed to put up that giant tent down in their shipyard?
  22. I just heard a piece on how Quiznos is trapped in a viscous cycle of losing money and then cutting costs (including advertising), which then causes them to lose more money. I believe they just had an infusion of cash from an investor. They had something like 40% of the stores close in the last 2 years.

^^ The NCAA'd definition of ethics is suspect at best...hypocritical and arbitrarily applied at worst.. Those were two great games though.
  25. Great Job! My buddy from Baltimore was trying to put together a Cleveland weekend trip with his Baltimore friends, looks like you did the work for him. Given your target audience, I forgive you for leaving off the Harbor Inn and Major Hooples.
