Cleveland Guardians Discussion
Classic- "let’s just say that I was enhancing my performance a little bit. It was the only time I ever did steroids. I did them for like six or eight weeks. You can print this, I don’t give a f—. My fastball went from 79 to like 85"

That was a pretty ugly slump, let's hope the worst of it is over. I'll take 2 out of 3 over the D backs in interleague play in AZ. Especially considering how close it was to being a sweep. Besides Fausto, the pitching never wavered much during this rough stretch and it looks like they are finally swinging the bats again. Hope springs eternal! "Only one thing left to do. Win the whole fucking thing!"

Demographic Shifts in Urban Ohio...Aging and declline in under 45 pop
This isn't surprising. Look at the demographics for the whole country from last census. Not only did the percentage of white and black children dropped, the absolute number of white and black children actually dropped too. Ohio is mainly made up of declining ethnic and racial groups.

Homes, houses condos etc.
v^The fridge came first, five years ago, so did the dishwasher. The matching stove and micro are in storage awaiting a trip over to my double. The wall oven was a craigslist find that I have $300 in, w/getting it fixed and the cooktop was a ebay discontinued model. The fridge is sticking out in that pic because the old gasline was still there and would allow it slide back all the way. Surf, I was actually surprised that only the sides of fireplace where is juts out into the room were brick and the front wall over the mantle was actually plaster lathe. I found that out when I went to mount my TV and was all prepared with a masonary drill bits and lead inserts, turned out all that I needed was a stud finder and wood screws. It makes sense since the rest of the chimney is 2 ft wide and not 6 ft. Oh and at least 12 layers of lead paint, probably with wallpaper too...

Homes, houses condos etc.
I exposed the brick on the chimney in my kitchen...(Picture was right after the granite was installed, so no backsplash yet or trim on the cabinets) http://4.bp.blogspot.com/-wVMXFGq2dvs/TYEYcn5GOmI/AAAAAAAAAM4/oF7O5BFL6UY/s1600/Copy%2Bof%2BDSC00094.JPG[/img]

Cleveland: Ohio City: Development and News
^^Currywurst, my interest is piqued...one of the best drunk foods I ever saw but haven't tried was the fried cheese sandwich slathered in Mayo that Anthony Boudain got from a street cart in the "No Reservations: Praque". Good to hear that the food and beer is up to snuff, sounds like another excellent addition to the area.

Ohio: State Budget News and Discussion
Cronyism at it's best... There was a piece on NPR last week or the week before on how the industry people are writing these amendments and the Ohio congressmen have no idea what they are actually inserting. However in this case, I would guess they knew what this would do. However they are probably are surprised it came to light so fast....

More Shenanigans... Auctioneers upset over new licensing requirements slipped into transportation budget bill Published: Monday, June 20, 2011, 10:00 PM Updated: Tuesday, June 21, 2011, 8:25 AM Reginald Fields, The Plain Dealer By Reginald Fields, The Plain Dealer COLUMBUS, Ohio -- Ohio auctioneers are crying foul over a little-known amendment slipped into the state transportation bill that would give a single auction firm -- a giant of the industry -- the exclusive right to handle the sale of construction equipment. "Why are we passing legislation that is favoring one firm over 3,000 licensed auctioneers in the state of Ohio?" asked Jeff Bub, of Jeff Bub Auctions in Brunswick. "We all want this amendment appealed," said Bub, who has held an auction license since 1984. "We want it off the books so we can continue doing what we have been legally able to do all of our auctioneering life." Bub is upset over an amendment that creates a new, separate license for auctions of construction equipment. The qualifications for the license come with some heavy-duty requirements: the firm must be on over 90 acres containing an operating facility that is at least 60,000 square feet and grosses more than $1 million a year in Ohio auctions. Admit Your Cultural Blasphemy!
^because you're a nice guy????? And as far as skin-a-max goes I am willing to bet it's do to the increase in nursing home/ assisted living population. At least that's been my experience with my 90 year old grandfather.... Semi-kidding. He had all the movie channels when he got cable in his apartment. He let us know what he was watching at night...

Ohio one of the "least free" states?
Not to mention that the roll out of the smoking ban coincided with the largest recession in 80 years. Try separating the effect of that from the effect of the smoking ban.

Please tell me that isn't what you call your hoo-ha. That would be disturbing on multiple levels. No! You perv! That's what I call baby! He's such a little Diva! Still not sure what you're talking about. Could go either way..... Oh Lawd. Thing No. 2 and his wife (Mrs. Thing No. 2) had their first child. I'm the baby's Godfather. Keep up already! I call the baby "Mr. Fussy Pants". I'm still not convinced that these people really exist, and that you're not some schizophrenic typing this from a basement filled with feral cats. I often wonder the same thing...

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
I can see your point. Although fail is probably a strong word. I agree with you that CBS probably blocks most of the prevailing wind, the location could be better but it is what it is. I don't think it's capable of being an inspiring exhibit at that size. It's just too short, it's catching the breezes and not the "winds", the Lincoln Electric should be pretty inspiring. Ironically enough, the winds tend to die down in the morning due to the land and water temperature differential being smaller, when the largest amount of people drive past the GLSC. Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
First off you don't want the blades spinning too fast, they are long to generate torgue and then gearing is used to spin the generator faster. And the big thing is that wind power happens mostly at night, so most people won't see it spinning. And last, that turbine like most of the exhibits at the science center are there to demonstrate a scientific principle, not really a viable commercial application.

Cleveland: Wind Turbine Construction News
Below are 2 links to the Regional Transmission Organizations (RTOs) study queues for generator interconnect. The RTOs are the open access controllers of the high voltage power grid and both operate the grid and wholesale energy markets in their terriotory. You can filter both of these by fuel time to get an idea of how much wind is being studied and already approved. This list will only include turbines or windfarms selling into the grid over 1MW. Feel free to PM with questions, this was part of my old job. https://www.midwestiso.org/Planning/GeneratorInterconnection/Pages/InterconnectionQueue.aspx One project proposed 48 MW wind farm in Erie County, about 12-15 turbines like the one at Lincoln Electric. http://www.pjm.com/planning/generation-interconnection/generation-queue-active.aspx
