I wonder how much of Scott's 30 min tirade after the loss to the Pistons was directed at JJ. He played like a man possessed last night. It's nice to see him coming along.

126-119 Cavs beat the Clippers in OT. The streak is broken. In other news the Clippers are still a horrible road team. About f$&king time. Come on guys, beat Washington on Sunday so we can have a winning streak. Then you can tank a few more.

^ Saw that episode. Kind of the "Law and Order" method to writing a cop show. So far I like Detroit 187. In that episode I thought the cop's angry reaction to urban explorer was interesting, especially the line about only taking picture of the abondoned building but not the new one next to it. I guess that's true for some, I think that most people on here would be just as interested in the new building.

^ Agreed. Especially when a movie is about capturing the moment. I saw that ad for Fast and the Furious 5 :Fast 5 during the superbowl and thought they were close approaching Police Academy. Police Academy 5: C.O.P Citizens On Patrol

There was a blip in the wiki article about John Hughes and Matthew Broderick were discussing sequels and they felt the same way as you do AJ. The one idea that they came up with that they did like was Ferris and Cameron were old, and Ferris breaks Cameron out of the nursing home that he has checked himself into because he still thinks he's dying, and they hit the town, going to strip club and such...

I loathe the car buying process. I did find that when we bought our minivan if your bring two screaming toddlers and a screaming baby with you the back and forth goes a lot faster.

Oops forgot about the parade. That could be a tough one... We'll just have to stage our own Ferris Bueller Day parade. I was on wiki trying to figure out the sequence of everything he did and apparently John Hughes just stuck a float in the parade for filming and very few people knew about it. Then they shot the close ups of the parade the next day and he had 10,000 people show up by word of mouth.

I am game for this new Holiday, anybody have a classic Ferrari (or a Miata would work too) that I can borrow ? So I can recreate Ferris Bueller's Day Off: the Cleveland version. Just need to make sure that the Tribe are in town and the Terminal Tower obeservation deck (instead of Sears Tower) is open... http://www.theatlanticwire.com/features/view/feature/Your-Newest-Holiday-June-5th-Is-Ferris-Buellers-Day-Off-3162# Your Newest Holiday: June 5th Is Ferris Bueller's Day Off By Ray Gustini | February 08, 2011 11:59pm Ever since Ferris Bueller looked out his suburban Chicago bedroom window and declared, "How could I possibly be expected to handle high school on a day like this?" his day off has been an inspiration for people trapped in offices and classrooms on those bright, sunny days when the tedium of work seems cruel and unusual. Until now, the exact date three teenagers skipped school, drove an antique Ferrari into downtown Chicago, looked at some art, went to a Cubs game, briefly united the entire city in song, and destroyed an antique Ferrari, was unknown. But thanks to some heroic statistical sleuthing by Baseball Prospectus's Larry Granillo, we know the date: June 5, 1985.
  14. ^Eastsiders... Besides the mine, waterworks and storage facility there is also Great lakes Towing (http://www.thegreatlakesgroup.com)which is producing tugboats and did the extension on the Miller's Ferry for PIB a few years back. http://www.thegreatlakesgroup.com/page_text/Miller Ferry.htm Best view of the saltmine is the patio at the Harp on Detroit. The huge Cargill sign and piles of salt. You can't miss it. I thought Garret Morgan's gasmask gained national fame in a salt mine accident, but I googled it and it was a waterworks tunnel project. saltmine from google steet view. It was cold this morning? JK. By the way Packzis are OK but my favorite ethnic donuts are the fresh fried chunks of dough spirinkled with the sugar at the Italian festivals. MMMmmm Straight from the fryer into my belly.

Not sure if it's a decent place but there is one where Lakewood Hts blvd wraps down around to Berea Rd. It's generally good area, mostly light industrial. From Lakewood just take Bunts south to Lakewood Hts, turn left and keep going past the RTA garage over the bridge, turn right onto Berea road. It's right there, you can't miss it. Looks clean enough from the outside.

^ Oddly enough I was just reading an article in one of my wife's magazine on a sexuality study using videos, where they measured men and women's physical arousal as well as the particpants opinions on what they found attractive, including animals. Men's opinions lined up with their physical response. Straight men like man and women, and two women. Gay men like two guys. Neither group of guys found animals arousing. Women were all over the place. Their opinions of what they like pretty much lined up with orientation, but their physical arousal was much more broad, including the animal videos for some.
  18. ^ Just a thought to add to that KJP. I think a lot of us still are struggling about how to get our heads around an economy not based on producing things (ie manufacturing) and based mainly on services. I was sitting here and I realized that a keypoint to realize is that technology has produced a split where the notion of hardware and software has changed things dramatically. My example involves a stopwatch. Pre-PC and pre-handhelds/smartphones the only way to buy a stopwatch was to physically buy a stop watch. That stop watch would be both hardware and software (by the design to make it work). Now you can just buy a program or an app to use as stop watch on your handheld, which is soley software. I guess my main point is that technology has divorce a large portion of function from form and even if we are not making physical objects, a lot of tech jobs, which are considered service, are still producing things that have tangible value and can be sold. The creation process is just seperate from the hardware creation. Now the down side to that is a computer program is way more easy to counterfeit or pirate than pig iron or a car. Sorry if I rambled.. Edit: Way off topic sorry, I forgot what thread this was.

Friendly op-ed on Cavs fans on Yahoo sports. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ycn-7801326 Why you should be friends with a Cleveland Cavaliers fan By Sylvie Branch, Yahoo! Contributor Network Feb 7, 3:30 pm EST With the loss to the Portland Saturday, the Cleveland Cavaliers have officially set the record for consecutive losses in a single season. Over at Gobbler's Knob, Punxsutawney Phil predicted an early spring, and I, along with the rest of the Cavs fans, can only hope this season will pass quickly. Like in the movie "Groundhog Day", it is like we are on a repetitive loop, loss after loss. It is beginning to all blend together. There is really no need to go over the stats again. Cleveland fans know the sad truth all too well, and yet, they continue to watch, hope and wait for the rebuild. What needs to be reported on is the fans themselves. If you know a Cleveland Cavalier fan, count yourself lucky. There is no better friend to have then a Cavs fan. Top Five Reasons to Befriend a Cleveland Cavalier Fan. 1. Loyal - a Cleveland Cavs fan will stick with you through the worst of times. They know your faults, and can love you regardless. In fact, even with glaring inadequacies, they can find something positive to focus on. You may hear, "You tried," "Good effort," "That was close, maybe next time." Loyalty is a rare commodity, so when you see a Cleveland Cavalier fan who still admits the Cavs are "their team," know you have found a loyal person. 2. Patient - Cavalier fans know this is not the season for a championship. They are willing to hold out...... Read more at: http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=ycn-7801326

It was nice to see the MAC schools so well represented in the Super Bowl this year. I believe I read that there were something like 16 or 17 MAC players on the the SB rosters. Notables being Big Ben (Miami), James Harrison (Kent) and GB running back James Stark (Buffalo). I am sure there are some anomynous offensive linemen in the group too.

Ugh, I just talked to my wife. My neighbor's beautiful century Lakewood house caught fire this morning. Fire was contained so I don't think there is structural damamge but tons of smoke and water damage from the sound of it. So frickin' sad. On the upside they caught it early and nobody, including their dog was hurt.

My kids liked the Doritos one where the pug knocks the door in over the guy who was taunting the dog. Overall the commercials were a B-. I personally liked the Dorito one with the guy sucking the cheese dust off of the fingers of his co-worker, right up until the point he ripped the pants off of the other guy, that kind of weirded me out. The Chrysler commercial with Eminem was tight (The Lipton Brisk one with Eminem was annoying). Too bad it couldn't have been for Detroit its self and not Chrysler. I did relate to the Pepsi max one where the guy was trying to sneak food. I have never gone as far as hiding in the bathtub to eat a burger, but god knows I have discarded the evidence of getting fastfood on the way home from work, on more than one occasion...

I didn't even get one hotdog. Boo. We took the kids and it was a pretty goodtime. I actually learned quite a bit because I know exactly squat about Hockey and the one of the guys we went with who sat next to me explained a lot of the strategy. Bobbleheads are for the first 5000 fans only, make sure you get there early and get a voucher. We missed out on the George Washington and Abe Lincoln bobbleheads.
