I was thinking about this after it was posted, I think it just happens to be a coincidence in Ohio cities. I think the real driver is the wealthy tended to move up hill to escape the pollution during the industrial age, which was usually centered around to river valleys. Examples being West Akron, Northside of Youngstown, The various Heights on the east side of Cleveland. I'd say Akron is a notable exception. West Akron and the area around it is absolutely gorgeous. And West Cleveland is certainly better than East Cleveland ;) . I was thinking about this after it was posted, I think it just happens to be a coincidence in Ohio cities. 2. Be gentle it's my first poll. A poll in honor of McCleveland's recent addition to his family and his impending 3 months of sleep deprivation. Plus I had a really crappy week of sleep, so I decided to see how much sleep other UO'ers get a night. I am usually in bed at 12:30-1:00 and then up at 5:45. Rarely do I get an uninterupted night of sleep.

  10. Thanks John S, I think that my house was "contempory" for the time that it was built. Overall it is very plain and I am guessing that is why it doesn't have a double door entry. There are no pocket doors but rather two sets of folding french doors with beveled glass that seperate the front room from the hall/open stairs and the dining room. There is some beautiful wood work but it is all very plain. I do however have the facenailed this strip hard wood floors with inlays around the perimeter that make fancy designs in the corner.
  11. duh'oh I made the mistake and ready the comments section... Really, that is good news, especially given how thin the police are spread in the city..

Honestly the problem with Nirvana is they don't have enough of a recording library to make a true judgement. One indy lable album recorded in 12 hours or something like that, and 2 major label LPs, an MTV Unplugged session and a few odds and ends. I agree that Cobain is totally overrated based on his production. He did have quite an ear for melody and chord progressions but he hid alot of his technical failures in distortion. I would have loved to hear the music that he would have made once he learned to "play his instruments". Then we could have made a judgement. Right now his legacy is effectively killing Hair metal, honestly by the time Nirvana rolled on the scene had already turned into a parody of it's self. It was waiting to be killed off. Oddly enough very few of the big alt bands that followed Nirvana embraced the indy/punk music culture that Nirvana was built on. Pearl Jam's music is basically Hendrix/classic rock based and so were many of the other early 90's alternative bands.

What were we talking about again? Like somebody pointed out above only people above 40 care about the E-W rivalary. I'll joke about it but I am not really being serious. Avogardo, how long did it take you to get home yesterday?

I too think the Beatles are overrated...Stones not so much once I started listen to the other tracks that don't get played on Classic Rock stations. I still have no idea what Justin Beiber actually sings, I am sure that I have heard his songs but I have probably thought it was a girl. Taco Bell is one of the main food groups. I don't like the Office, I get it but it really isn't funny. I have always hated playing video games. MTS, I would call that a power/control complex over a Napoleon Complex.
  20. Yes, I am talking about two seperate doors with a tile floor usually. I have a small 6 x 6 foyer but it has a 5 foot wide entry into the living room, and as far as I can tell there were never any french doors on it. Who knows maybe I had one of the first storm doors originally?
  21. A couple of questions for you old house guys out there. 1. Double door entry ways. What was the purpose? I am guessing to have a buffer from the cold weather. As far as I can tell my house is one of the few houses on my street that does not have (or had) a double door front entrance. My house was built sometime around 1907 and the rest of the houses were built in the 1900- 1915 range. Most are some variation of the Four Square and there are few true Edwardian style with seperate parlors and a little more ornate detail. 2.Red brick foundation - When was that common? Both my double and my house have a redbrick foundation. Most of the house that I have been in Lakewood have the clay bock foundations, including my neighbors.

And he was doing this while he had a wife and a 2 YO? Wouldn't you want to at least keep it semi-legit to keep yourself out of jail? It seemed that he a low opinion of the people that would buy from him, because they were being greedy because he had a low price and wouldn't take the time to research who they were buying from. Almost as if they deserved to deal with him and to be ripped off.

Link to an article on an e-retailer that was using negative traffic to drive his ranking up on Google search algorithm. Guy sounds like a borderline psycho, threatening customers, leaving nasty e-mails and voicemails. Following link on his arrest a week after the article ran. http://www.nytimes.com/2010/11/28/business/28borker.html?ref=business Article on arrest: http://www.nytimes.com/2010/12/07/business/07borker.html?ref=technology
