Bullied LeBron questioning Spo's lineups? 08:13 AM ET 11.12 | The second of two bad home losses didn't bring out the best in the Heat. "For myself, 44 minutes is too much," James declared. "I think Coach Spo knows that. Forty minutes for D-Wade is too much. We have to have as much energy as we can to finish games out." Read more: http://www.fannation.com/truth_and_rumors/view/247835-bullied-lebron-questioning-spos-lineups#ixzz1555hDmUZ Well that didn't take long. I am convinced that Byron Scott's no BS style was the final nail in the Cavs chance at retaining LBJ. Hmmm maybe Coach Spo should give Mike Brown a call to see how this movie ends...

^^Do you mean the general "flat' Great Lakes accents instead of a NE accent or Southern drawl? I do a lot a work in a midwest regional power organization and talk to a lot of people (and listen for hours) to people from the midwest. Here is my take on "Midwest" dialect based on my ears. Warning, these are generalizations. Ohio, Michigan, N. Illionois, Chicago Land Indiana and Wisconsin generally sound the same to me, meaning they sound like me. Southern Indiana, Missouri, Kansas and Southern Illinois start to get what I consider a dry midwestern drawl, they also tend to use what I consider "folky" sayings or at least saying that I wouldn't use. Minnesota and Dakotas natives totally have some variation of the "Fargo" accent going on.

Interesting I always thought the Pittsburg dialect was more Appalachia /Southern without the accent than midwest. Sack, gumbands, git, warsh, etc...

I love that, especially when I am treating my self to a good cup of coffee in the morning instead of drinking the swill we make at home (my wife dumps flavored creamer in so I am not wasting $10 plus a lb coffee). As a fiery italian with anger issues and a caffiene addiction nothing pisses me off more. Luckily there is a Caribou right across the street so I still could get coffee. I all about supporting local biz over the chains but.....

^ agreed. Or fickin coffee shops that don't open until 6:30 and that is if their staff shows up on time, if you open at 6:30 you should have coffee by 6:30 not 20 minues later. This used to a major peeve of mine with the old Phoenix Coffee in Lakewood, however since they moved into the bigger space next door and became the Root Cafe they always open on time now or at least by the time I leave for work. Ironicly enough my wife worked at Perks the coffe shop in Athens while we were at OU and was always late when it was her turn to open up.
  6. There is a piece in this month's Cleveland Zoo Member magazine about the clean up of Big Creek and one of the graphics accompaning it is a postcard for Brookside Park from the early 1900's. It has a picture of the park and the name of the park and city with the Cleveland labeled underneath as "The Sixth City". Anybody have any idea what that means and what the other 5 cities are in reference to? Or what that means in general, it looks like some early attempted to brand the city. Link to a postcard, not the one in the article but of the same vintage and style, just a different shot of the park.. http://www.flickr.com/photos/mytravelphotos/2769056193/# Edit: Duh, google is my friend. http://urban.csuohio.edu/sacredlandmarks/csl/1910s.html

I guess I am just sensitive after all of the coments by our favorite Shaker Square resident about the river being the start of the midwest. Edit: Natininja, I just read your post. That's hilarious.

Note; This latest spike in gas prices has less to do with supply and demand, and the effects of a speculative commidity market than it does with the fact that the dollar is currently weak, weak, weak. Oil is priced in $US so that means it takes more $US to buy it when converting to other currencies thus driving the cost up. Voinovich is proposing a penny a month hike in the federal gas tax for the next 25 months. See the article on Cleveland.com, the comments are painful as usual. http://www.cleveland.com/open/index.ssf/2010/11/sen_george_voinovich_suggests.html

About the only part that I think is really screwed up is the video montage during the boat ride. That is just creepy, IIRC there are slaughter house scenes during that? Or I am mis-remembering? I know for sure that there are snakes and bugs. I still don't like that part as an adult. "Is it raining? Is it snowing? Is a hurricane a-blowing?..." I do have to agree with Mayday those lyrics are spot on for raising kids and a great self-check for parents. It's a daily battle with my kids over what they eat and how much TV/video games/computer time they get. Gum is not much of a problem though.

http://sportsillustrated.cnn.com/2010/writers/don_banks/11/10/week.10.power.rankings.2/index.html Browns are number 16 in SI's Power Ranking this week. I believe they started out at #31 this year.
  16. I hope that it's nicer for winterfest than it it's been the last few years, of course my kids are older so I would be more willing to drag them out than I would have been in the past.

She might work her charms on you.. watch out it can go both ways... David.. my advice to you dig a little deeper and find out if her opinions are of her own self-discovery or if it is what she grew up with. If its the first take AJs advice, and if it's the latter, there may be hope for her. It amazes me how many peoples political views are passed down and accepted without any thought if the parents beliefs really line up with the individual values. Though the Beck rally would be really hard to get past regardless.

From wiki, yes but no...I always considered it a Professional Degree but I guess I was half right. http://en.wikipedia.org/wiki/Juris_Doctor Juris Doctor (see etymology and abbreviations below) is a first professional[1][2] graduate degree[3][4][5] and professional doctorate in law. The degree was first awarded by Harvard University in the United States in the late 19th century as a degree similar to the old European doctor of law degree (such as the Dottore in Giurisprudenza in Italy and the Juris Utriusque Doctor in Germany and Central Europe).[12] Originating from the 19th century Harvard movement for the scientific study of law, it is the only law degree that has a goal of being the primary professional preparation for lawyers and the only professional degree in law. It is a three year program in most jurisdictions.[13][14] As with other professional doctorates (M.D., D.O., D.D.S., etc.), a research dissertation is not required.

Bachelors of Science in Industrial Engineering from OU. I work doing rates and federal policy absolutely nothing to do with my degree, but I really just want to get the band back together and hit the road. :) I agree with AJ on the JD. They are touchy about their education. And doctoral holders would probably point out that they have way more education than lawyers..Probably should add a MD/OD for the med folks too
