Thank god that's over. So let's pretend like it never happened just like a sitcom.

One of my favorite lines from the movie "Back To School" on how to cut down on college costs....Lou is Rodney Dangerfield's driver/bodyguard and Jason is the son. Lou: Come here. I want to tell you something. Jason Melon: What? Lou: You were pretty hard on your father last night. Jason Melon: I know, but the guy doesn't understand. Lou: I know your pop thirty years. He understands. He's a nice guy, and he's tough. Like me. I'm nice, and I'm tough. I'll give you an idea what I mean. My two boys, I put one through college and the other I put through a wall. Your papa loves you. He's lookin' out for ya. Look out for him.

I never even heard of that one. I guess I was too old at that point. Anyone remember 3-2-1 Contact? they used to make us watch it as homework back at PS 30. Heck yeah! It was on immediately after Square One in the afternoons in the late 80's. I was a really smart 5 year old. I don't know what happened to all that intelligence, lol....... It got lost somewhere. Too much education! I only got my bachelors so I still have plenty of smarts in reserve!

Eh you got me, it's one of the headlines of both ESPN and SI NFL pages. I was just annoyed to see it there when I wrote that. Apparently Brady Quinn is now the 3rd string behind Tebow out in Denver. That trade keeps getting better.

I would like to personally like to thank Jim Brown for getting Cleveland back in the national spotlight again, just after the Lebron-a-drama died down.

There is no bad italian food in Youngstown, lets put it that way. If you are looking for homestyle red sauce Italian, it's pretty hard to get a bad meal. The list of above pretty much covers the Y-town institutions. Try some Briar Hill style pizza while you are intown (red sauce, green peppers and grated cheese) it is availible in many of those restuarants its named for the working class Italian neighborhood on the nothside where my grandpa grew up. Open Hearth has awesome copper covered tables in their booths BTW...
  7. Oh jesus what kind of thread have I spawned? :? Wow that Avon house is craptastic inside..

You are welcomed to overstep that boundary with me anytime. I am sure GoTribe would agree with me...he's got 4 kids that could be in college at the same time.

If Tony Grossi owned the team they could be the Cleveland Bronzers! TG I kid because I love. I went to listen to his podcast and I just had to share the picture. I feel for the guy a little because Mangini comes from the Belechik school of secrecy the guy won't give you the time a day even if he has a watch on his wrist....Romeo probably gave him a copy of the play sheets each week. It was a big change and he has a lot of column to fill each week.

The hotel in the cascade complex is now the Akron Centre Hotel, no longer a Raddison. I second checking out the Angel falls in Highland Square. There is a coffee shop/gallery at musica called Mocha Maiden but it really never seems to be very busy I love Crave, so definately make that one of your meals. I work with several vegatarians and they never have any problem finding something to eat there. Be sure to stop into Rubber Cty Clothing (RCC) and pick up your Akron wear.
  12. RC, Actually I hadn't really noticed how bad that double gable was until you pointed it out.I was just taken aback by the garage. That gable is just bad no matter what the overall style of the house.

  15. oops sorry.
  16. I thought kids came out 9 months after commmencement... Too drunk that night! I started drinking at 8AM that morning... I already have one of my own that I want to get rid of sometimes.
  17. LOL That's some funny sh!t.
  18. Too bad Shaker Square is in the city limits! Actually I think it was based in part on the national coverage that MELT has been getting. I love my Lakewood!
  19. I've been reading that on and off but I haven't made it all the way through yet. I skipped to the comments which are pretty venomous from both sides. I really didn't have that post college "discovery" period ( I had a kid less than 12 months after commencement) but I always thought you were suppose to get that out of your system in college. LivinMog with your parents until you are 35 isn't acceptable unless you are an Italian momma's boy. :)
  20. Pleated skinny jeans....
  21. Damn Straight....
  22. WTF is this house? I appreciate the victorian detailling but you attach a front facing 3 car garage with a two plain white slab garage doors? Not even faux carriage house doors with windows? as MTS would say, "Child please!" Eye bleach please! Edit; Linked the picture. And yes I am a house snob/junkie...
  23. The Apple Store is on it's way.... But yes Akron has a lot of amenities, some from good planning and some left over from the boom years in the early part of the century. The downtown revitalizations and Lock parks are coming along nicely. So is the integration of the UA campus into downtown. I agree with C17 on his rings theory, if I am hungry I am not driving 45 minutes to get a burger at Swensons but I would do it to go to a muesem, zoo or ball game.I have cousins in Y-town who drive to Crocker Park/Legacy village to go shopping.
  24. Apple store joking aside, I know that from a national retailer level. They really see the NEO area around Cleveland divided into Eastside Cleveland, Westside cleveland and Akron (particually west Akron/fairlawn). My wife is friends with the owners of the Melting Pot franchises in CLE (OK she works there, but we are still friends with the managing partner) and before the economy tanked their research showed that the area could support 3 stores, the Legacy, Westgate and a 3rd store in Fairlawn/west Akron. I think that shows a lot of overlap between the 2 cities. I am not saying that Akron is a suburb of CLE. Just that West Akron is the overlap point with the southern CLE suburbs, Akron and Canton, just like Legacy is the overlap point with eastern CLE Burbs, Euclid and the Lake county exurbs.
