Just set out a ton of cardboard boxes for recycling this morning. from the new kitchen cabinets I am putting up (Longest kitchen renvo Ever!) apparently my kids were playing exotic animal smuggler or something the other day. i walked into the living room and they were putting all of their stuffed animals in the boxes and closing them up. When I asked them what they are doing, they replied "shipping our animals". Hmmmm.

I think the Braylon-ectomy went a long way to curing the Browns cancer. Was he a Savage pick or a Davis pick? I forget? Maybe Cincy can pick up BE next year after the Jets dump him? He has an assult conviction. He should fit right in

I actually vomited in my trash can when I read the NYTimes article...

Mine is in my nightstand. Yellow Sony Sport model probably from '89 or '90l. Still works. Funny the numerous Discmans I had all bit the big one. Portable CD players always kind of sucked.

Interesting post. Even though they have gotten larger, much larger the flat screen TVs are are just so much less invasive in a room. The new TVs are probably more of a focal point due to the size but the tube or projection TVs had such a large footprint and usually required a large piece of furniture that they demanded attention in the room. North Andre, you obviously are doing much better than me. I am a packrat so I just collect electtronic devices....
  6. Thanks for posting that. I run on the path there all the time and I was wondering what was going on there...

Then you have my wife on the other end who tries to recycle everything. Everything including important papers, dirty containers, etc... Bam, pile of papers she hasn't sorted? In the recycling bin. I have to sort through the papers each week and pull out the bills and personal information that should be shredded. The best part of recycling? I get to see what the neighbors are drinking and I know where to go for a good beer.
  8. http://www.cleveland.com/cuyahoga-county/index.ssf/2010/08/cleveland_planning_commission_postpones_vote_on_med_mart_designs.html Looks like the planning commision liked the plans on the CC but postponed the vote to get more detail on the actuall MM portion.
  9. That babysitter is always a kick in the gut. Hope you enjoy the concert.

http://datingmyself.tumblr.com/ Wow. That's creepy. Photochops of couples with the same face. Some are celebrities, some just regular people. All are creepy. Reminds of the Aphex Twin videos...
  11. Niko, I will see what I can dig up, I am guessing probably around 8-12 cents a kW-hr depending on maintanence costs. Wind turbines are never going to replace baseload units (or beat them on cost per kW-h) but they should (especially) when teamed with storage technologies be profitable. the wind tends to blow the most at night when prices are cheap, so you store that power and sell back on the grid during the day (peak) when the prices are at their highest and the wind tends to not blow. Wind turbines are a little different than most generation because they are price-takers in the market. Other generators basically calculate a minium run price and are dispatched either by the market when the price gets high enough or because they are selling at a price above that to a buyer under contract. So that 18 cents per kW-hr represents the average market price they need to maintain or they need in a contract based on estimated yearly output. Almost all wind is currently sold in contracts, and the buyers also get the rights to the RECs (Renwable Energy Credits) needed to meet state mandates. So currently wind power in contracts sells for a premium.

Ha. Yeah my kids haven't been to Terrace Club yet but usually we end up in Section 138 where my parents have a part of the season ticket pack. So they expect to be able to actually be able to see the players. My 8 yo is really getting into it. He has been listening to the games every night when falls asleep. They are a exciting young team playing slightly better than .500 ball so you can watch them now because you know they have a chance to win on any given night, unfortunately they torched their seasonin the first half. I hope Acta has better luck carry momentum through to the next season than Wedge did.
  13. Hippie! Just kidding. I love me some CSN. Last time I saw them (2005?-ish) Stephen Stills wasn't looking or sounding too good. I am not sure if he was having health issues that have since gotten better or what. Still sounded OK but it was just a noticable decline from just a few years earlier. I don't know if I am more amazed at how good D. crosby sounds or the fact that he is still alive. Really an amazing voice though, even before you realized he spent 15 or 20 years freebasing.Coke fumes have to play hell on your lungs and throat.
  14. Those are some big sea gulls on page 27! Ok just so I have this straight in my head, there appears to be a large ramp in the entry of the actual MM that leads down to the exhibition level (page 9). Is that what everybody else takes that to be?

We took the kids two weekends ago on Sliders birthday (free cupcakes!). Good time had by all, it was raining in the morning up until game time, so they didn't have the inflatables set up for kids day. They do a nice job with the kids day stuff. Your kids should have a good time. Just make sure they know how to shout "choooooo', my kids have started doing it at home too. Sucks that Santana is out for the rest of the season on a semi-dirty slide...
  16. That rendering on Page 21 is pretty cool looking. I like the single lobby because when you enter the lobby you will be overlooking the main exhibition floor connecting you to the space, where as I think think the splint entrance would give you the feeling like you are entering a mine or something really reinforcing the undreground aspect(reminds me of the connecting tunnel to Terminal d at CLE) The best part is the CC is only really taking up 250 ft of street frontage. That is the nature of the underground design I know but I think about how other cities CC take up block after block of streets, leaving a void.

This maybe more psych 101-ish but hand our cardboard lebron masks and have 25,000 lebrons booing lebron...
  18. I like it. Just trying to get a feel for the scale of 27 feet. I know that is about a 2 story building. Also there will a lobby and a ramp or two that lead down to the exhibition floor at the main entrance on mall B, is that everybody else's understanding?

That would be great to watch (or not watch)
  20. Sweet Jesus those comments following that article are priceless. As the saying goes, the Haters will always Hate. I follow this closely for work so if anybody has any questions regarding this post them and I will try my best to answer this. Some follow up to the article and comments following the article. 1. Yes offshore wind is more expensive than on shore wind however Ohio in general is pretty crappy for wind and the capacity factors (actual amount produce vs unit rating) for offshore wind on Erie are 2-3 times higher than what is available on land. So you would need at least twice the amount of turbines on land to generate the same amount of power. So off shore may actually be cheaper. Also I believe the winds over the lake are less gusty. 2.What hapens when the wind doesn't blow? The turbines don't make power. end of story. Right now this is a problem but there is a big push for energy storage and it is coming. Pumped hydro already exists, compressed air projects are in the works and other storage technologies. Once the renewables and storage get synced up watch out. Wind is free besides O&M. 3. Grid Issues. Ohio off-shore wind has the benefit of being right next to the two big load centers of Cleveland and Detroit. The upper midwest likes to be known as the Saudi Arabia of wind but the Transmission required to connect to the electrical load in the east will be very expensive. Not to say that study was not ridiculously optimistic but I think some offshore wind in Ohio is a very viable option.

All that I can say is they better make sure they introduce Z directly after LBJ and not give the fans too long to get worked up. They may have to set up the penalty boxh from the Monsters games to protect James when he is on the bench from a hail of beer and objects. Hell they should probably put the glass up around the whole court too. And a net on top. This could be a major sh!tstorm. Stern and Gilbert need to make sure that it is clear that there will be zero tolerence for throwing things at that game. Zero. Gilbert and the cavs need to come up with something that is a big enough FU to LeBron to satisfy the fans but has zero potential to escalate into anything violent.

My only comment is that it took Z posting an ad first....

I am sure that it was grand and insightful!, Did you have an inappropriate thread all picked out to post it in ,too? Perhaps the Cincy Streetcar thread? I am sure that Mayday is sorry that he didn't get a chance to use his bloody ax graphic. Seriously though, both of my bosses are out this week I totally missed one day of slackig....

There was an interesting article in the PD about how Carolinia tried to switch to a more rigid rule based passing strategy last year than the loosey goosey "Farve-esque" play by your gut style that Delhomme was used to. F'd his head up, I hope he can recover. He doesn't need to put up huge numbers, just hand the ball off and get a first down when we need it. This is a team built for running first.
