Fellow UO'ers is it time to retire Al Bundy? I am sort of getting sick of being stared at by him all day. I love me some Ed O'Neil but it may be a time for a change.

the 'show us what you are eating/drinking' thread
Doc, if you post something thing to FB it gives you a direct link that you can use to insert it here. Of course your friends will wonder why you are posting pics of all your meals but I have seen much stranger things on FB. Made pizza last night, even with the crappy dough mix that I used it was great. Garden tomatoes, fresh basil, fresh mozza, some pepperoni. Yum. I should have taken a picture because our convection oven does a pretty good job on pizza the cheese melted and was nice and brown and the tomates ended up with a nice brown edge.

Living Car Free
Article from Slate on how Hollywood depicts not driving as "loserdom". Dude, Where's Your Car? How not having a car became Hollywood shorthand for loser. By Tom Vanderbilt Posted Friday, July 30, 2010, at 9:57 AM ET -------------------------------------------------------------------------------- In Greenberg, Ben Stiller plays Greenberg, a drifting musician-turned-carpenter who's getting over a nervous breakdown. He's a needy and casually abusive schmuck, a socially awkward and obsessive crank. And if you need any more clues to the extent of his pathological loserdom, here's one: He doesn't drive. Greenberg once drove, as he grew up in Los Angeles. But he has since let his license lapse, an affliction apparently picked up—like something foul in a public bathroom—in New York City. Greenberg's inability to drive is treated as a weakness—watch him flail hopelessly at the SUV that cuts him off at the crosswalk!—but also as a more insidious character failing. As the reviewer for the Guardian put it: "Greenberg takes emotional advantage of … quiet, compliant people, not least because he's that classically dependent figure, a non-driver in Los Angeles who needs people to transport him around town." Once we all buy into the idea that the car is freedom, not having a car reads as a form of clingy, needy dependency............ More at: http://www.slate.com/id/2262214/

The Official *I Love Cleveland* Thread
Lately I have been seeing a lot of Falcons and Hawks around Lakewood. I swear last Sunday morning when I was walking the dogs there were 3 falcons hunting squirrels on my street.

Cleveland Browns Discussion
I am not really sure where this team is going to end up this year record wise but with the improved O-line and Vickers lead block any running back (Harrison, Hardesty, etc) is going to have a much easier time than 2 or 3 years ago. The blocking was so bad before that the only thing that opened up the running game at all in 2007 was DA's deep downfield threat. All of these guys are young and fairly quick and with the blocking we have 4 or 5 yds a carry is always legitimate possibility, so the D will have to respect the run first which should help the passing game tremendously. Plus all of the guys out of the backfield have pretty good hands. I think what I am trying to say is we should have a real life balanced functioning offense for the first time in years with the run threat opening up the passing game. Should be exciting. PS Can tony Grossi be anymore bitter at the demise of Camp Romeo? Did they used to hand feed him grapes in the press room or something? Did Mangini do something to him back in the day that he holds a grudge about? Or maybe I am now spoiled by Pluto's and B Windy's coverage and realize that TG is a major hack?

Show a pic of yourself!
Wow, sounds like my cousins wedding at Immaculate Conception in Youngstown. High 90's no AC, the bridal party ran outside immediately after the ceremony was over to sit in the AC in the limo and chug beers to cool off. They had to be conned back into the church for pictures.

It's a bargain for a wedding too. A permit is somewhere between 100 and 200 dollars.

United Methodist Church of Berea. She rocked. Very Cool lady unfortunately she moved. Oh if you could have seen the honeymoon pics. Boardshorts and a meat sweater. Not cool. Fortunately (or unfortunately) we lost all but one of the disposable cameras that we took with us to Mexico.

All the talk of Doc Broc's engagement got me thinking. No engagement pictures but a random picture from my wedding in 2003. We were married at the Rose garden Pavillion at Mill Creek park in Youngstown. I am the stout fellow on the left tipping the scales at 230 lb. Normally I am around 200 lbs, nothing like having to look at fat wedding pictures for the rest of your life. Oy!

My kids once managed to sneak/knock a roll of TP into the tub with them. Dissolved instantly and I had to schlep all these wet TP pieces out of the tub. It was great. We went to Disney this April and my three year (he turned 4 in May) rode everything we did. Space Mountain, The Train roller coaster in Adventure land and this crazy Himalayan express coaster at the Animal Park. One of the perks of having a giant child. Most of the rides at Disney you have to be 42"or 44" tall. He is way past that. We probably could have gotten him onto one of the 48" coasters if we got creative. The best part is he loved them. I am sure his older brothers enthusiasm helped.- Favorite Music At The Moment?
http://stereogum.com/365572/black-francis-with-joey-santiago-the-cover-of-the-rolling-stone-stereogum-premiere/mp3s/ I was listening to the Pixies on the way into work and I started wondering what Joey Santiago was up to these days, the last I saw of him was the music he composed and performed for the first and second seasons of Weeds. I always loved his sound. This was interesting because I never knew that Shel Silverstein wrote "Cover of the Rolling Stone" or "A Boy Named Sue"- What, if you have one, is your workout routine?
Wowwee Zowee is it hot out there. I cramped up during my "urban run" up from DT Akron to Highland Square today at lunch. I was feeling good because there was a breeze for the first mile or so, then I decided to continue on and do my 5 mile loop instead of just the 4. Dumb idea....- moving to cleveland, family man , wife, and kid.
HTs the reason that happens is besides Clifton Park (by the lake), the Goldcoast (highrises and old apartment builds) and Birdtown (old factory town in SE corner) the rest of Lakewood is very much a street by street experience. Depending on the mix of housing and the lot sizes the experience may be completely different. Plus the walkability is about the same because there are three main east to west streets where the businesses and transit are located and almost all of the housing is on the streets that run North to South. Most amenities are pretty equally distributed among the East to West streets.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
I think Niko (he was listed on the permits posted in the window) still owned the building and leased it to the propeitor of Route 6. They did major renovations during the first switch so it looks like he just went back to what he knew on a limited scale to keep from losing money on the space.- Cleveland: Restaurant News & Info
Random Lakewood update, Route 6 Cafe on the corner of Summit and Detroit (in the old Niko's space) is now Niko's On Detroit again and has the full Greek menu. Currently they are only open for Dinner after 5. Business seems brisk from when it was Route 6.- Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I wish I had thought of it, I was just repeating my friends comment. I went to the Tribe game on Sunday and was amazed at the large selction of anti-lebron shirts the street vendors have already, including the "LeBron maybe heading south, but his momma is riding West"...hehehe..- Off Topic
