Ohio Education / School Funding Discussion
Interesting read on Slate.com from one of the archeticts of NCLB http://www.slate.com/blogs/blogs/thewrongstuff/archive/2010/05/17/diane-ravitch-on-being-wrong.aspx Diane Ravitch on Being Wrong Posted Monday, May 17, 2010 12:53 AM | By Kathryn Schulz "We are in the grips of a kind of national madness," Diane Ravitch told me, "closing schools, firing teachers, shutting down public education." What makes this statement interesting is that, for many years, Ravitch was a powerful voice within the national education reform movement she now rejects as faddish, empirically unfounded, and bad for America's kids. As assistant secretary of education under George H.W. Bush, Ravitch became an outspoken supporter of educational testing, school choice, charter schools, and No Child Left Behind. Later, she championed those positions as a member of the National Assessment Governing Board (the entity that oversees education testing in the United States) and through her involvement with two prominent conservative think tanks, the Thomas B. Fordham Institute and the Koret Task Force.....

Cleveland: Cleveland Marathon News & Discussion
I think that part of the spike popularity with the marathon comes from the Hermes Cleveland road race series, these events have generally been growing in popularity and are well run. Once somebody has a good experience running a 5k or 10k they will set their goals a little higher to the half or full marathon. They also have it set up so there are 2 good training races before the marathon, the 5 mile St. Malachi in March and the Cleveland 10-miler in April (which soldout this year too)

If he doesn't see eye to eye with you and just randomly pops in. That's all. Maybe heard you spend all of your time on UO and really was checking up on you! BTW it is one hell of a beautiful day in Cleveland right now. I am sitting on my front porch at home in the breeze waiting for my boss to log off of IM, so that I can too.

Even better once you post them on Craigslist you could set up and use a (whatever the hell Grandcentralstation numbers are called these days ) that would ring on their phone. That way you at least can cancel the number once the joke was up.

Wouldn't it be crazy if we ended up on the flip side of the free agency frenzy. We lose Lebron but pick up two other high profile players....

Can't a UO'er be allowed a day to wallow in self-pity? Besides everybody knows the river bank that will give way, not an earthquake.

The question really is will Gilbert cut his loses if the Cavs lose LeBron? No casino. No luxury tax team. Just some mediocre basketball team that could easily get lured away from the city.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I have given LeBron a lot of slack for his antics over the years but I am with AJ, I am OK if he leaves. The constant holding the fans hostage with free agency is mostly his creation helped out with national media. Combine that with his play during the last three games, and I have had enough. He's a tremendous talent and could easily be the best ever, but what we saw this series character wise is the exact opposite of MJ playing with the flu. It's obvious that winning a championship is his second or third priority right now. Who knows maybe he made up his mind that he wasn't going to do it alone so why bother I'll go to another team. I don't know, all that I saw was that LBJ and the team saw the Celtics were a better team and quit. MJ probably spent last night watching the game giggling and pissing his pants knowing that his legacy his secure for the apparent future. I will gladly welcome LBJ back next year especially if he decides he is the greatest NBA player ever first and an international mogul second, but if he bolts, so be it. Also anybody getting on Danny Ferry for the supporting cast please remember that Ferry did not pull the trigger on any of those trades without LBJ's approval. Now Mike Brown.... sorry you are nice guy and good coach but I doubt you will ever be a great coach. You had too many players to pick from and too many line ups that were good but not great. Take a year off. Enjoy your family....

huh? I get what you are trying to say but I would say that would be a stretch. I don't think if the indians suddenly changed their name and adopted zippy the squirrel as their mascots the Browns would be magically better. It's a culture of losing problem and bad luck.

Lebron caught mono from making out with Beyonce when she was in town, but he doesn't want Jay Z to know so he made up the story about the elbow. That sounds as plausible as anything that you will hear publically.

They stood around and whatched Rondo dribble with 45 secs left. I don't care if it is almost impossible to win. foul that little f'er! I realized as a Cleveland fans I can handle losses and disappointment but the quitting really pisses me off.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
There is no good reason they can't win this series... Following article pretty much sums up my feeling about LBJ. Time to grow up. Although I had no problems with the not shaking hands with Orlando last year. http://sports.yahoo.com/nba/news?slug=aw-lebroncavs051210

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
I listened to the Brian Windhorst podcast on CLE.bomb and he basically laid it all on Lebron. He said that everybody (his sources) seems to have no clue what is going on with him. It's also obvious that all these writers that are crucifying Cleveland fans for getting on Lebron for a "bad game" haven't watched him very much before. I hope that less than 48 hours gives LBJ the time to finish the soul searching that needs to be done before game 6. This has blown up in his face and he needs to play like a god in games 6 and 7 to keep this incident from permanantly tarnishing his legacy. Go Cavs!..

Funny I was sitting next to a guy who had a chance to last night and he was sooo thankful he did not blow his money on the ticket. I hope this debacle last night is the wake up call they need.

Cleveland Cavs Discussion
What is up with Lebron? Shouldn't he be just a little bit testy right now? He is all wishy washy. Is this the same guy that refused to talk to reporters after the Orlando loss last year? I think he feels like he has lost control for the first time in his life and it is freaking him out. Is there something going on in his personal life? The way this whole thing is playing out is just weird, which is a word I have seen 3 or 4 times in the write ups on last nights game. Buck up son. Make it happen. PS thank you Shaq your efforts last night did not go unnoticed by the fans.

F************ck! I got out to the bar for that? If you can play, then play. If you are hurt then sit. Mike Brown I know it's LBJ's team but tell him to sit his ass on the bench if he can't contribute.

Does anyone know
I haven't heard anything from him in years. He may have figured it out. Musical talent aside, was his shtick really that different than David Bowie and Alice Cooper? or Dee Snyder?
