I was talking about his fans that just like scary pictures, man boobs, flashing lights and loud noise. Also two chord songs.... BTW I totally agree that MM is totally a performance artist...

So EC are you for the Cavs before you were against the Cavs? I am confused....
  3. I put the interests of my brother and siter behind my other tenants! But seriously if the double isn't a viable housing model, the inner rings and Cleveland better put there colllective heads together and figure out what to do with them because they are just an invitation for more trouble. The economics aren't there to covert them into single family homes without some serious incentives/subsidization. They need to make the case in the county, Columbus or DC that the infrastructure subsidization on a new home in a development is greater than the subsidization needed to convert these doubles and try and get some money/tax credits to start the work. I know this has been tried before several times but it never got past the pilot houses.
  4. Yes but as the landlord of the double you have control (insert evil laugh and pressing of finger tips together  )
  5. All the inner rings should be doing everything they can to encourage owner occupied mutli family housing. It is such a win-win for the cities it needs to be done. A lot depends on how this all shakes out with housing market and mortage market. Once it stabilizes it will hopefully become an attractive model for young buyer/family again that otherwise wouldn't be able to own a house that 5 years ago were able to pick up a house with zero down.

Ha ha. Can you blame him? I didn't even bother to watch it.
  7. Thanks Mayor, I was wondering about that because in the Lakewood school building projects, some were rehabbed and some were demo'd. I know the all the schools that are left for phase 3 of the project needed to be demo'd because they were uneligible for state funding for rehab. That sheds some light on the subject.

MM fans were not included with the artsy and fartsy crowd, they were in addition to. As far as your second question goes, if you have to ask you probably are.... :)
  9. 327 you are underestimating the paranoia that parents have about school. I have know several families that lived for years and professed to love Lakewood but moved further out because their kids were going to be starting school....Regardless of the school ratings. But I think playing off of the economic development going on the eastside is a good start.

My question is why isn't the level of intensity higher over all? Besides game 3 in this series and game 4 of Chicago they have been overall pretty flat. You don't have to be on fire all the time but at least look like you want to win 50% of the time. They were in Sunday's game and just never really turned it on. They cut the lead down to two and then blow it with multiple sloppy ball handling and crappy shots.....Don't you want to win???? It's the playoffs against Boston??? And the rest of the team is flat because LeBron isn't putting on a clinic. Weak.

Sounds too arsty fartsy for the circles I ran in. I imagine those drawn to absynthe were art history / literature majors, into lounging around on their velvet couches discussing the Proust they just read in class that morning. Also Marilyn Manson fans....I remember reading he was a being a big fan/consumer...

AJ93 comes through with another classic... Rocknroller: Close, but I don't think my crowd was fartsy, just artsy. AJ93: I suppose it depends on diet.

I am a reformed movie guy by the way. My parents owned a video store from the time I was 5 until after I graduated highschool. So I have watched a lot of movies in my day. I think the problem with movies that I have grown up with such as Clash of the Titans and Willie Wonka is that most people don't realize that the cheesie part of it plays so much into the experience. And when that is gone it affects you on a personal level. Hence the negative over reaction to an OK to mediocre movie. Things I don't understand are projects like Van Sant's Psycho. You want to do a scene by scene remake of a masterpeice? With Vince Vaughn? (usually I have much love to VV) EDIT: Waiting for a Bill and Ted's Excellent Adventure remake. Jonas brothers? Maybe VV as Rufus?

Happy Mothers Day.... My wife got stuck working a double at her restrauant. How was that for a Mothers's Day present...

Lackluster performance by the Cavs, brilliant performance by Rondo. Bring it home for the win.
  18. Very cool. 8-) His very Ohio friendly acceptance speech from last summer when he was in Warren for the dedication of a street named after him and it looks like he was a awarded a key to the city too.

My thoughts below from FB. I'll admit that I was holding my breath there in the last half of the 3rd waiting for the Celtics comeback. It never came. Nice demoralizing victory. Game 4 should be a bloodbath: CBC's FB Friend Post : To: The Dark Underworld Overlord controlling the Cavs playoff run From: Every Cavs fan on the planet Whatever Doc Rivers is paying you, we'll double it. 4 hours ago via Facebook for Android · Comment · LikeUnlike . CBC:You mean David Stern? I swear to god he is the pulling the strings to drive drama and ratings. It is the only logical explanation I can come up with to explain this playoff run. The Cavs should be tearing heads off and pissing down throats in every game like they did tonight. Word.
  20. Well it looks like Dimora has figured out half of the equation. The cronyism and corruption did nothing to bring the city down, it was all the PD's fault. Pot meet kettle...

    Vikings wear miniskirts?
  22. Nice article, I think he did a pretty good job of capturing the spirit of Youngstown. I love the national fascination with the ytown-pittsburgh wedding cookie table, it manages to make it's way into the strangest articles.

The world hasn't been the same since.
  24. There is something to be said for a city whose residents can come up with the slogan "Defend Youngstown", (look for him on facebook if you want to stay up on Y-town news and development). God knows I wish that Cleveland had a little more of that attitude. Your city is your home and you protect and defend your home.
  25. Thanks KJP. Y-town is your town and my town. I don't know if Youngstown has turned the corner but if they haven't it is on the last block and can see the corner from where they are standing. It's really interesting to see how these smaller industrial cities (y-town, akron, etc) keep reinventing themselves. Let's hope the good news keep rolling in. Sooo much better than back in the 90's when the murder rate was through the roof and when I was in college and told people I was from the Youngstown area, their reply was Yompton? (Youngstown + Compton).
