Cincinnati: Downtown: Western & Southern Headquarters
New thread. Should we infer anything from that other than there was enough chatter to split it off?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Banks
After looking at the pictures, I feel like ICON blows away the Newport thing. Also, not mentioned here yet is the fact that now we have some added park space and the culdesac and stairs are now added at the foot of Race. When is Hilltop supposed to vacate their spot?

Cincinnati: Downtown: The Artistry
Rabbit Hash replied to The_Cincinnati_Kid's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionWhat could one ever do with that building? Often wondered if some type of geometric mural could be pulled off.

Cincinnati/NKY International Airport
I was just talking about this to a fellow NKYian last night. There is already a subtle yet noticeable boom in NKY, especially in Boone. I mean Boone has had crazy growth (by MW standards) the past 30 years but there's lots of road construction + home and commercial activity. As secondary and tertiary business gear up to serve AMZ and the incomes start to be spent, there will be a ripple effect.

Newport, KY: Ovation
Rabbit Hash replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionYeah. Fingers crossed. I know we joke a lot about some of these developments in our core and how they are more suited for the West Chester/Mason throwaway corporate architecture scene but in this case that criticism seems to fit too well.

Newport, KY: Ovation
Rabbit Hash replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionNot bad for a rookie at this stuff, eh? One random thought: Hopefully this development is clearly visible on TV during Reds broadcasts. I think of the newer stadia that have been built and the changing out field views they've had...and then there's Cincinnati.

Newport, KY: Ovation
Rabbit Hash replied to buildingcincinnati's post in a topic in Southwest Ohio Projects & ConstructionI've been over there looking at it. They have a bunch of the white manufactured soil fill blocks (you experts probably know what that stuff is called) on site. I think what they are doing is constructing the wall up to the height of (or just above) the levee in order to create a "front yard" effect. The soil fill blocks are cheaper hats hauling in clean fill, I assume. Basically it becomes a flat plateau on the top of the level instead of it closing back down. Doing it this way probably relieved them of ACE approvals as they are not excavating into the levee, just fortifying the backside. (???) Re: the skywalk - To me what they are doing is establishing the height of the levee as "ground level" so that there is a strong ped connection form the river/levee to the music venue. Goven where the office and hotel parcels are located in relation to the already constructed skywalk, I think it will actually work out well. The section of "future/potential building is the spot most likely to fail in the street presence category. It mentions plaza level retail...barf. This part is the next phase to be built so we should find out soon. Here are more pics and info: https://www.corporex.com/our-real-estate-portfolio/mixed-use-development/ Thoughts?

Same here. We need a space race. A new 800' changes the whole dynamic of a skyline. If it's at the 5th Street elevation, it will make QCS look short.

The article in the BizCourier says they have no immediate plans and that it will be used as green space. At the same time, maybe they are being coy. Want there some bill passed last year in Ohio that gave insurance companies credits for building a skyscraper?

It's hard to say. I haven't really chewed over the subject. The "P&G" thing would be interesting as you consider how PG has grown into a recognizable brand (as a house of brands) itself over the past 25 years. The Tide's and Crest's of the world stood on their own back in the day with no awareness by the average person that PG was behind it all. For the rights, I was thinking in the other direction that since they have invested so much in the league, it makes sense to tag their home turf. Not sure though...?- Cincinnati: West End: TQL Stadium

Boo hoo. It's time. But, boy will it leave a hole in the skyline. Hopefully to be replaced by something modern and glassy. The west side of the skyline needs some flair. Can we please just get a "twin" to Indy's JW Marriott?- Cincinnati/NKY International Airport

Who has seen the documentary on Netflix? "Long Shot" Kinda similar. He won a pile of cash for his trouble from LAPD.- Cincinnati: Brent Spence Bridge
To me, the greatest enemies of smooth flow on the bridge (and possible fixes) are: NB Kyles Lane Entrance - The merge is too short and should be extended considerably or just added as a lane that eventually becomes the 12th/MLK NB exit. Pike Street Entrance - Basically zero merge. This is the genesis of the AM merge delay on NB. either eliminate it, and/or close the 4th Street entrance, create a Texas Turnaround (as we have discussed) and add a lane between Pike entrance and old 4th Street entrance to create 4 lanes of the 75 mainline. SB: Truck traffic fed into the left hand lanes by SB I-71. (If I-71 was rerouted on 471, you could probably lose one of the lanes on the ramp to SB freeing up space for a third SB lane in the 75 mainline. 6th Street Expressway lefthand entrance - Literally dumps traffic on the end of the bridge with no merge. 9th Street Entrance - Same as above. I bet there are 1000's of lifelong Cincinnatians & NKYians that have never used this ramp. Have we discussed what becomes of the Lytle Tunnel if 71 is rerouted?- Cincinnati: Pendleton: Hard Rock Casino Cincinnati
Recently overheard... Times-Star Building: What's the appeal for you in living in Mt. Adams? Mt. Adams NIYBY: The beautiful views of all the great buildings that combine to make the Cincinnati skyline awesome. P&G Towers: What are your thoughts on a 15 story Hard Rock Hotel at Broadway Commons. Mt. Adams NIYBY: We can't have a building like that blocking our view of the skyline. In all seriousness, I don't think it will be a big problem. Uphill from where the pit is certainly not where the bulk of the high dollar views are.
